Quick update.

Hey [community profile] bakerstreet!

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK
Okay, so last week we asked you guys your thoughts on how the community is going to be run and anyway I've reached a decision regarding that.

ANONYMOUS WILL BE KEPT ON, WITH IP LOGGING OFF.

That said, if there are anonymous problems that do turn up. Do not hesitate to PM or report it.

NEW MODERATORS! + APPLICATIONS

Welcome in, Chibs ( [personal profile] kostinaya ) and Eri ( [personal profile] vital ) to the moderating team! ♥ ♥ ♥

Anyway, it's a pretty big comm and I'm currently looking for TWO more moderators to make sure we get all the ground covered. If you're interested in applying, I've tossed up an application post.

MODERATED POSTING

Okay, I know it started out very rocky and consider last week a trial period, but we're extending the trial period for another week especially now that there are more moderators. There are a lot of really good reasons why I personally think the meme queue should be given another shot.

— It slows down the community. Some of us are in games, and [community profile] bakerstreet has had a point where it's received fourteen thirteen memes a day. there's some pretty cool raw stats here

— Memes are getting more play.

— Adjust the meme variety. Meaning if, for example, a smut meme gets posted yesterday, we'll try to avoid posting a smut meme today. So the last smut meme that gets posted gets more attention.

— We want to encourage backtagging and playing in older memes. A lot of people won't tag into something just because it's not in the front page anymore.

So since there are going to be more mods now, the queue should be sorted faster with the memes being posted in a wider range of timezones. Anyway, give us another week to try and run with this style. We want something that works for everyone. Which brings us to the question:

HOW MANY MEMES/DAY DO YOU WANT TO SEE?

MEME HEADERS
Okay, so no one in this community wants anyone accidentally triggered. So placing things under a cut, would benefit tremendously. We don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable.

Since what triggers what is subjective there's this list of common triggers that comes at a handy reference. Basically, meme makers, use your own discretion in handling it.

If there's an offending image, do not hesitate to report.

THEPILLOWFORT
a PanFandom Dressing Room
☁ premise
You wake up in a city it doesn’t matter where— a bedroom, an intersection, in a park, just somewhere in a city—and you quickly realize… this wasn’t where you were last. Or maybe you were just passing through on your way to somewhere else…. And couldn’t find your way out. Whatever the circumstances, you’re stuck in a city with thousands of other inhabitants; many are just like you, stuck with no way out.

The Pillowfort is a panfandom dressing room for anyone and everyone to join in on the fun. There will be scheduled events and setting suggestions, however everyone is free to play out whatever universes or settings they want to :]

☁ setting
The Pillowfort is set in a city called… well The City. There is no real name because the locals know no other place. And they will all be amazed by your characters’ stories of “far off places”.

The City is a large-city with no borders. There’s a bay, however the water extends on and on and it’s impassable. It doesn’t matter what language you speak or what kind of dialect you have, everyone can understand you and you can understand everyone else.

That isn’t all that’s strange about this place. Weird things such as setting changes, freak storms, or even monster attacks happen out of nowhere. No one knows how to explain it… and the locals aren’t even that thrown by it. However, new inhabitants should be on their toes. Who knows what’s around the corner!

PLEASE JUST POST THE FUCKING MEMES!

i'd like to see as many memes a day as we post

not like twenty, but i really don't see why it's necessary to micromanage the community

PROBLEMS/QUESTIONS/CONCERNS?

oh shut up. they're not keeping anything from us, just avoiding a flood of memes every single day. it's common fucking sense.

Did you mean to link to the pillowfort DR instead of memebells or are you affiliated with both and forgot to add the pillowfort DR?

PLEAE

YOU DON'T HAVE TO POST EVERY MEME BUT THERE'S NOTHING INTERESTED COMING THROUGH.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-26 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
I think around 3-5 memes a day would be best.

I'M ALLOWED TO VOICE MY CONCERNS.

I don't think this is micromanagement. I'm personally tired of seeing people post the same memes every week or even every few days, along with the fact that multiple choice setups mean that even memes that are "different" are functionally very similar. It's been a problem for months, and since mods are the only ones who can make the pacing better, I'm glad that they want to.

"PLEASE JUST POST THE FUCKING MEMES!" =/= "voicing a concern"... geez. You could try "I'd like a greater variety; I've been bored with the ones coming through."

I'd like a greater variety; I've been bored with the ones coming through.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-26 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
I think 4-6 would be a good range. I think at three memes or less a day, you don't have enough variety to appeal to enough people and at 7+ memes a day, there's too much variety and premises can easily get repeated or tired, and memes can get scrolled off before people have seen them, if they have to take a several day hiatus.

Just my two cents.

You're not showing concern, you're whining no on is entertaining you.

I'M CONCERNED NO ONE IS ENTERTAINING ME

I agree with 3 - 5 memes a day being posted. It's a decent amount of new stuff to look through without pushing too many other memes off the front.

Though I would prefer 5 more than 3 a day.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-26 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
it depends on the variety of memes + the popularity

and links to other comms or advertisements about "off-shore" memes (like club_id, tlh, etc etc) shouldn't count as one of the memes.

I'd suggest somewhere between 5-7 memes, although I'd be content with some of the lower numbers suggested if the few memes that were posted of a greater variety.

I think 5 a day is a great number as long as the memes aren't really similar. I know you have a queue and that can be hard because you don't want to have to be the ones picking and choosing.

But for example, yesterday/today it was a lot of dark memes and nothing really fluffy. BUT LET IT BE SAID: I appreciate the work you guys do though, you're in a tough situation!

Also: I think linking to memes that are not on the comm shouldn't count.

Putting memes behind cuts just makes more work and means you need to open a new page for every meme, which feels pointless. The words "trigger warning" and indeed, "triggered" in general are overused and I highly doubt the majority of whiny babies who use that term actually have a right to.

If you have a real phobia of something, like blood, then yes you can say something involving blood like a picture of a scar would trigger that. In which case, you have a right to politely ask the meme-maker to put it under a cut.

If you just don't like pictures with blood or cuts, you are not being 'triggered' by seeing it. You are just bothered because you don't like it. In which case, get over it and scroll on past.

Where, oh where, can my fun be?

The bakerstreet mod took ii away from me.

It's gone to the queue, so I've got to be good.
