Some things don't need explanations. Chicken wings. Wonderful weather. Guilty pleasures like Michael Bay movies. This meme is one of those things. It's simple: one character is in another's lap, and eventually the two get hot and heavy. Whether it's a friend sitting on a lap because there's no room, couples cuddling, or a stripper giving a lap dance, one thing will lead to another...after all, the loss of personal space can certainly set actions (and more) in motion.

2. Romantic Canoodling: You two are spending some time together, and there's no way to be closer than to snuggle up in your lover's lap.
3. Out of Necessity: No more room on the bench, in the booth, or on the couch? There's a place on their lap.
4. Amateur Lap Dance: Just something sexy between lovers. Or maybe more silly than sexy.
5. Professional Lap Dance: Better break out the ones. This lap dance will cost you.
6. Dare: Nobody ever thought you'd get this close and personal, so they pushed you into doing it.
7. Pointed: They said you couldn't turn them on so easily. Challenge accepted.
8. Accidental: Oops, you've fallen! Good thing this lap was there.
9. Step Back I Feel a Little Poke: Wait. What's this? Maybe you should wiggle your hips a little to find out.
10. Lovemaking Lapsitting: Riding someone while they're sitting up can make the rider feel powerful, since they're on top, but the one being ridden may notice just how soft and small they are...and embrace them out of instinct.

The thing is, yeah, it's inconspicuous, but the car Steve chose is also really small. And between their suits, their gear, the changes of clothes they all have, clothes, extra ammo, toolkits, first-aid kits, so on and so forth... All that stuff takes up a lot of space, and there's still a ways to go before their rendezvous with the others. Of course, Steve decides that he's driving, no two ways about it, no requests for switching off, nothing.

The passenger seat is pushed way up now to make more room in the back, since the trunk in the little Bug is basically nonexistent, and with all their stuff stuffed in and around the backseat, there's essentially only space for one passenger. So, much to Steve's never-ending amusement, after a long argument about who's taller (Bucky, by one inch, okay, maybe two, it's kind of hard to tell) and who's heavier (Bucky, because of both that stupid arm and the way the serum had bulked him up) and who is more inconspicuous if they're spotted from outside the window (Sam, because Bucky's face is plastered all over the news), Sam had ended up on Bucky's lap.

Great. As if things weren't awkward enough.

"Stop moving," he grumbles, "Jesus, Barnes. What are you, six?"

[ Terezi's toothy grin says it all; she knows exactly what she's doing, even if the devious troll would deny any accusations. This was supposed to be a movie night, but the lines of some cheesy romcom now drone on behind her, totally ignored as she all but blocks the screen from the unfortunate troll beneath her. Everything about this visit was distracting, from the over-saturated colors on the tealblood's saliva-stained TV to how she was straddled over Karkat's lap. Her arms were crossed in front of her chest, empty eyes staring antagonistically at her friend, as if she were daring him to yell at her to get off and let him watch in peace.

It is all a petty little game and gamble to her, but then again, wasn't anything? She doesn't even have an exit plan; all she knows is that she dangles that tantalizing choice in front of her poor friend's face. Shitty romcom, or her? As much as the wannabe manipulator would love to say she knew the answer, she honestly didn't. She never understood Karkat, or what was on his mind in terms of... this whole deal between them. Friendship? Moirails? Flushed? Who even knew! But then again, that's what made it so fun! ]

I'm not in the way, am I? [ Again with her incessant teasing; she knows damn well she's in the way. All she wants is to tease and prod her poor victim. That predatory way that she licks her lips confesses her guilt, let alone her unblinking, unseeing stare straight at Karkat. ]
