Poe had fought this deal initially. He would do anything for his boss, no matter the risk, but working for their enemies on this turf just seemed like the worst idea. Snoke and Organa had made some kind of arrangement for this heist, that apparently they thought they were better off teaming up for than fighting over.

It was a good point. Their target was Kanjiklub, a formerly small rival group from Jersey that had kept to their own turf up until their leader got taken out. His son,
Tasu Leech, was far more enterprising and had merged Kanjiklub with the Guavian Death Gang. Now Kanjiklub was bigger than their shoes and dealing in shipments of illegal weapons, as well as closing in on the deals and turfs of both Rebel Force and the First Order.

The team being sent to send a message and deal with Kanjiklub had to be split between the generally rival gangs. It was too big a mess for either of them to deal with alone. Their groups dealt in different types of crime. While Rebel Force dealt with civil disobedience, theft, stealth and speed, First Order had the brute force, fire power and ruthless nature needed to be taken seriously. Poe didn't want to have to deal with First Order, but the Rebels needed them if they were going to send Kanjiklub packing back to Jersey where they belonged.

So rivalries were 'set aside' for the moment, and Poe had agreed to be the driver for their first strike. He was the best driver in Rebel Force. Really, he was the best driver in New York. He had never failed a getaway, and he had never been outmaneuvered in a race, chase or shootout.

His bright orange and white Lola T70 that he had rebuilt from scraps and parts was far from inconspicuous but BB-8 was his baby and he refused to change it for anyone or anything.

He was leaning on BB-8's side as he waited for his teammate for their part of the mission. Some weapons expert from First Order that he wanted nothing to do with. He wasn't even sure why they needed Hux to look at the weapons. They could just hit Kanjiklub, steal the weapons, blow the warehouses with First Order's explosive stash and get out. He didn't understand why it mattered what weapons Kanjiklub had been buying.

He flipped his phone and sent Hux a sarcastic hurry the fuck up text.

[chuuya had always sort of thought that this would feel more like a promotion than replacing someone, but then that was before the traitorous waste of space he called a partner ran off on them-- and nevermind their connection, taking the place of someone like dazai is a problem unto itself. he may hate his now-ex partner, but there's no denying that he was very, very good at what he did.

he'll be fine. it's not like he doesn't have the skills to back up his new rank-- mori would never have given it to him otherwise. but chuuya is still preoccupied when he answers kouyou's summons, his mind still running over a number of things.
