Haunted House Meme!

Everyone knows to stay away from the large empty house on the hill. It’s haunted. But maybe you’re seeking a thrill, or maybe you’re searching for something lost or locked away. Maybe you are the ghost haunting the old building. Maybe your car has stalled, and the house on the hill is the only building for miles. But is it empty, or is there something waiting?

The Haunting
A. Ghosts. Creepy, tragic, and possibly violent, they’ve got unfinished business in this world and you’re the unsuspecting victims who have just become the targets for their wrath.
B. Creatures. Unearthly monsters summoned from a hell-dimension or mutations created by a mad scientist, this is their house now, and they are fascinated and hungry.
C. The People in the Walls. Someone—or several someones—have been living in this house. They’re no longer human anymore, and their sanity has been frayed to the very edge. They’ve been surviving on mice and bats until now. But now you're here, and don't you look delicious?
D. The House Itself. Maybe it was built evil, or maybe it became evil after the horrible deeds that were committed in it. The very walls of the house are soaked with blood, and the house is angry, and hungry. It has you now, and it doesn’t plan to let you out.
E. The Cabin in the Woods Experiment. None of this is natural phenomena. You don’t know it yet, but you’re part of a larger experiment. You’re the rats in the maze, and the scientists are observing—and toying with—your every move.

The room appeared empty, but the way the lantern made the shadows flicker at the edges of the room had a more liquid appearance than in the main hold. It made Charles' skin crawl. Something here was unnatural, he was sure of it, but that didn't mean they couldn't manage the situation. "My name is Charles Vane," he announced, loudly. "This is my ship. Show yourselves."

Jack looked around the room feeling increasingly uneasy, he couldn't quite convince himself that the movements out the corner of his eye were just shadows, some of them seemed just the tiniest bit more...solid. Every time he turned his head there was nothing there, only shadows... shadows that seemed darker than before, and while he wanted to put it down to them being deeper into the ship and thus further away from the diminishing sunlight, he didn't feel like that was quite the reason.
"Whatever it is that you are looking for, we will do what we can to provide it," he offered in addition to Charles' words "If you are tired of scaring away lesser men, try us."
Somewhere in the shadows, he could have sworn he heard movement.

"Well," said Charles, heart pounding in his chest. His hands felt shaky, and his instincts were telling him to run. He ignored that. "I can see why they other crews were unnerved."

Jack was fairly certain that the only reason he wasn't running away right now was because the terror had pinned his feet to the floor, but even when the initial shock subsided slightly he fought to stand his ground, reminding himself that Charles was right behind him and even shadowy eldritch horrors were no match for Charles Vane. Probably.
"Quite," he agreed with Vane, struggling to keep his voice even "That's... well..." for once in his life, words failed him, he had no clever quip for this situation, no witty little throwaway line or impressive speech, he had no idea what he had actually been expecting to find down here, but it hadn't been this. He felt something brush against his calf and it took all his self control not to flinch.
"Tell me what you want," he finally managed, directing his question at the inky black centre of the shadowy tendrils.
