You are surrounded on all sides by death, torture, despair, and hopelessness...all this, but you are not alone. Through this experience, you have come to meet someone else, someone in the same situation as you, a prisoner or a survivor. Perhaps you are both ruthless fighters, or total pacifists, or some combination of power and a calming influence - an important mix, given than you can't lose your heads.

This complete degradation and mutual understanding has brought you together in in a way no one else can understand. This bond is not platonic; romantic may not be the right word, not exactly, but you are closer to them than you've ever been with anyone else. It's a fire-forged relationship, made in the most dire of times. To you, they are your world. And you've made a promise, to them and to yourself. You'll get them out of this alive.

[ a moment to relax is greatly appreciated and since Jetfire isn't the sort to believe in God or any other supernatural deity or being... he is just going to take it for what it is worth. a bit of peace and quiet.

maybe peace and quiet. traveling with Starscream? one can never really tell how that is going to go.

Jetfire gives it about thirty seconds before his 'dear friend' says something. ]

I can't believe I let myself be talked into this.

[It is approximately 29.5 seconds before Starscream says something. And of course that something has to be a complaint.

He's been letting himself be talked into several things lately and it was becoming grating. He's not sure if those feelings are better or worse with Jetfire actually being alive and not ... blown up into little bits floating around the Earth's atmosphere. His spark still felt all scrambled from the situation.

He had a small distraction when the almighty one decided to show up. But then Jetfire appeared among the living as well.

And now this. The two of them. Traveling together like it's nothing.

What has his life turned into.]

Here I thought it was the other way around. I suppose if you really want, we could go our separate ways.

[ but they won't. Jetfire no longer cares too much about the great fight between Decepticon and Autobot and Starscream... well Jetfire isn't sure what is up with his former and current again? friend. either way, the larger jet is pretty sure that, despite the complaining, Starscream isn't going anywhere. ]

Why would I do what you want me to do?

[Is Jetfire trying to get rid of him? How dare he. But at least it's a good distraction to Starscream's other thoughts. Instead he instantly shifts to being offended that the larger Jet would even suggest such a thing to begin with.

And Starscream being Starscream decides he has to stick around just to be contrary to that.]

[ and forty five seconds in, Jetfire is already exasperated. ]

Starscream... That doesn't even make sense. I said if you wanted to, not what I wanted you to do. Really, I'm only giving you a way out of your misery. That's all.

[aerospacecommander]

You only said that because you are trying to twist this around and deceive me somehow. But it won't work.

[When in reality Starscream is the one twisting this around to somehow be a ploy against him. Because clearly that's what Jetfire wants to do with his time.]

[airguardian]

[ well then. Jetfire gives Starscream a flat look. unamused. ]

Do you think I can actively deceive anyone?

[ kind of bad at that whole thing you know, Starscream. to make it BETTER, he flicks Starscream in the nose. ]

Use that brain I know you have.

You did wear that purple badge for a little while. Don't forget.

[He swipes at the hand that flicked him, feeling very offended at the action. Though it is a rather lazy and annoyed movement, not an aggressive one.]

[airguardian]

I haven't forgotten. Nor have I forgotten the reason that I abandoned it either.

[ all right. now Jetfire is just amused. don't make him repeat the action, Starscream. ]

Because you didn't have what it takes to be one of us. Your soft-sparked morals got in the way. So you abandoned everything. I remember too.

[And it's a sore spot.]

I didn't abandon everything, Starscream.

[ what's gotten into him? ]

You left. That qualifies as abandonment.

[He's been thinking about a lot of things lately.

Jetfire started it.]

I left because I am not for galactic conquest, Starscream. What turned out to be wasn't anything that I could tolerate and the only reason I stayed for as long as I did was because of you. Not quite sure where it means I completely and utterly abandoned everything.

[aerospacecommander]

You decided to make us enemies. And you don't see that?

[airguardian]

I didn't decide anything of the sort.

[sigh. is that how he really sees it? ]

What was happening wasn't right. In truth, I had hoped that you would come to understand that. Besides... Why would you have wanted a weakling that refused to fight anyway? Wasn't I just a disgrace?

[aerospacecommander]

That's not the point!

[Okay so Starscream finally snaps at that one. Why couldn't the big jet just get it through his head?!]

You purposely put yourself in the crossfire. You forced us on opposite sides. You were a traitor.

Starscream...

[ oh. oooooooh. ]

No. I'm just upset that you picked such a stupid path to go on.

[Yeah he took it personally.]

You wouldn't be upset if you didn't care, you idiot.

I. Don't. I'm just tired of you waltzing around acting like you're above everyone else.

One of these days you'll tire of lying to yourself, Starscream.

[ because Jetfire is done with that, thank you. ]

And one day you'll realize that I could never aspire to take your place in that waltz.

What am I lying about? You've always considered yourself to be better than everyone. Even back at the academy. The high flying over-achiever who underestimated those around him.

It wasn't intentional.

[ no, really, it wasn't. Jetfire is just really, sincerely, adamant about his work. so hands on that yes, yes he might think that he has to do it alone or that he's the only one qualified. ]

Still... Isn't that what you are doing with your life, Starscream?

Don't turn this around on me. We're talking about you.
