[Asahi squirmed quite happily at the sight of the happy face on his pancake, courtesy of some syrup and fruit, and he nodded at Kuroo's suggestion.]

Let's eat!

Alright sounds like a good idea! [Kuroo carried Asahi over to the table and placed him down in his chair. He rubbed his head on his way to the counter to grab his plate along with his cup that had his favorite bird design on it. Once that was in front of him, Kuroo moved to grab his own food, including his favorite cup with the cat design on it, and some juice. He placed everything on the table before he took his seat.]

So, what kind of treat did you want after daycare today?

[Asahi took a sip of juice while he waited for his father to join him at the table, and didn't pick up his fork until Kuroo had sat down, too. Then he was content to smile at his breakfast and take a bite. Yummy!

At the sound of the word "treat", he looked up in awe.]

I get a treat?

[Kuroo waited a bit to see if Asahi needed something else, until he saw the content smile on Asahi's face. He happily sat back and started on his food before he chuckled softly, he really wished he could take a picture of every cute thing Asahi did.]

Yep! Today's your big day remember? So we're going to celebrate! You get a treat and you can pick it too.

[This was a really big decision for Asahi to make! It was a big day, that was true, so he had to pick something really special so that they could celebrate it together like his father said. Asahi stared down at his plate, which was now missing a few pieces of the pancake, and hummed seriously.]

Ummm... I wanna eat at a ramen-ya! Please...?

[He was too little for them to eat at restaurants very often, unless they came with play places, but Asahi loved ramen and it would be a real treat. His big brown eyes were pleading as he waited for the verdict.]

[Kuroo wondered what Asahi would pick. He was such a good boy that he always tried his hardest not to spoil him too much with treats, so he tried to spread them out as far as he could. He couldn't believe that Asahi was big enough to go to daycare. It felt like yesterday he was a baby.

When it came to restaurants Kuroo wanted to wait, until he was a little bit older. Sometimes there were a lot of people there and he didn't want to scare Asahi. Kuroo sipped from his cup as he moved to cut another piece of his pancake, he grinned when he heard his answer. Asahi loved ramen so much he wouldn't mind taking him there. He looked at his big brown eyes and pretended to think about it.]

Hmm...I'm going to say yes! We can definitely go there today.

Yay!!! [Asahi cheered, his fork falling onto the table with a clatter. He murmured a little 'oops' as he picked it up, then licked his fingers and wiped the messy syrup off the tabletop.] Ramen is my favorite.

[Kuroo chucked when Asahi dropped his fork in his excitement. It made him so happy to know that Asahi would have something fun to look forward to.] Ramen is really good too and you can get any that you want. Which one do you want? Or are you gong to choose when we get there.

[Asahi took another bite of his breakfast and then puffed his cheeks out in thought.]

It's hard to think about dinner when I'm eating breakfast... [he finally complained.] When we get there!

[Kuroo laughed when Asahi puffed out his cheeks and held his hands up in playful surrender.] Okay, okay we'll decide when we get there. [He moved to cut into his pancake again when he stopped and placed his fork back on his plate.] Wait a minute did I remember your snack? [Kuroo got up and checked the fridge again before he gave a small sigh of relief. He was pretty happy that he didn't forget. He walked back to take his seat at the table before he picked his fork back up again.] I packed your favorite snack too.

[Kuroo may have been a little nervous about Asahi's big day too.]

[More good news for Asahi, who was happily kicking his feet under the table as he ate. His favorite breakfast, his favorite dinner, and now his favorite snack too! Maybe daycare wasn't gonna be so bad.]

Daddy, did you go to daycare?

[Kuroo wanted to make sure everything was good for his first day. He nodded as he took another bite of his pancake.]

Yep, I did. I was a little nervous, but I had such a fun time! A few friends I made at daycare I ended up carrying when I went to elementary school. I'm sure that will happen to you too.

...Do you promise I'm gonna make friends...?

[That was Asahi's biggest worry about daycare, even more than being away from his Dad for a few hours.]

[Kuroo gave him a reassuring smile as he nodded.] I promise you're going to make friends Asahi. Remember my necklace? It's a good luck charm too. You're going to make friends, I know you will.

[Asahi tightly held onto the charm again for a few minutes, and it seemed to calm him down again; he was a child, so he could still believe in that kind of magic.]

A-And you're gonna come pick me up?

[It looked like the charm was doing it's work. Kuroo hoped it would give Asahi the little bump of confidence that he could use on his way to school with the magic that he still believed in.]

I promise I'm going to be right there when it's time to pick you up. When we come home we can play for a bit, you can tell me all about your day then we can go get your ramen.

[After another one of his little deep breaths, Asahi nodded and took the last bite of his food. Then he smiled at his dad.]

I'm ready to go right right now!

[Kuroo finished up the last few bites of his food before he pumped his fist in the air.] Alright! That's my little guy. I have your bookbag and your blanket for nap time ready. I'm going to clean this up, when I'm finished we'll go get ready!

[Kuroo gathered their plates and carried them over to the sink. He hummed softly while he cleaned them, put them up, then walked over to Asahi.] Okay let's go get you ready!

[Asahi waited patiently by the table while his dad cleaned up, and when he rejoined him again, Asahi immediately put his hands up, wanting to be carried. Even though he said he was ready, he still wanted to be close to his dad. And he was probably still going to cry when he got to daycare and had to say bye.]

[Kuroo grinned as he scooped Asahi up and carried him to his room. He couldn't believe it, in a few minutes he would be dropping Asahi off at daycare. He had a feeling it wouldn't be very easy. He knew Asahi said he was ready, but he wouldn't like when he actually left. Kuroo knew it would be alright. He just had to remind Asahi that it would only be for a few hours.

Kuroo walked inside his room and placed him on his bed before he walked over to his closest to get the clothes they picked out the other day at the mall.

The little red shirt with the black pants made Kuroo smile as he carried it over.]

Do you have this part? Or do you want me to help? Once you're dressed I can brush your hair okay?

[Asahi looked at his clothes with a tiny nod, and smoothed out his new shirt before he wrestled himself out of his pajama top.]

I can do it. [He replied, though there certainly was a little bit of a struggle for him. He was only four, still working on his motor skills, after all. After the shirt went on, Asahi sat down on his bed to help with his balance as he changed his pants, but he felt pretty proud of himself when all his new clothes were on nice and neat.]

Ta-da! [He giggled happily.] Look, Tou-san, I did it!

[Asahi did do a few more things on his own, but he was four. Kuroo made sure that he would always be close in case Asahi needed some help. He watched as Asahi wiggled out of his pajama top then put on his shirt, next was his pants. Kuroo almost leaned forward to help him when he put everything on. Kuroo cheered and rubbed his head.]

Good job Asahi! That's my big boy! Okay, now it's time for me to brush your hair. [Kuroo walked over to grab Asahi's brush before he returned to take a seat on the bed.]

How do you want your hair today? [Kuroo always tried to keep his hair trimmed so it wouldn't fall in front of his face when he played, but his hair always grew back before he knew it.]

[Asahi's pride only grew when his father complimented him. He was becoming a good, big boy! When the question of his hair came up, Asahi gently played with the ends, which fell below his ears. His hair was kind of long, but he liked it like this. He considered it and blinked up at his dad.]

Can I have a baby pony like Kenma-oji does sometimes...? [He pulled his hair back into the smallest ponytail behind his head to demonstrate.]

[Kuroo chuckled as he thought back to the way Kenma wore his hair sometimes when he came over. It was always cute to see Kenma showing Asahi how to play a game. He nodded as he got up to get a hair band then walked back to the bed. He brushed Asahi's hair back and put it in the little ponytail.]

Okay all done! Wait, let me go get my camera! I'll be right back! [Kuroo placed the brush down on his nightstand before he got off the bed and walked over to his room. He grabbed his phone and jogged back. Kuroo walked over and took a seat next to Asahi as he held the camera up.] Only a few okay? Alright now big smile!

[Asahi complied readily with the request, feeling really cool like Kenma with his hair pulled up. He couldn't really see in the mirror, but he bet he looked awesome. His grin was nice and big for the camera, and he even tried a cute peace sign pose like he saw the models on TV doing sometimes.]
