1. Let's just get through today - it's a special occasion! Whether it's a birthday, Christmas or some other celebration, it's a big day and there's a lot going on. Control the sugar rush and avoid tears before bedtime, and you might just survive it.
2. What did you do!? - The dreaded call from the school has come, and now you've got to march down there and find out what your wayward child is up to today
3. Sick Day - Nobody's going anywhere today, call into work and notify the school, because your child is ILL.
4. Big shoes to fill - This is not your child. They're your little brother, your niece, your best friend's son, their real parents are gone and you're the only one who can step in.
5. Other - Got another idea? Fill your boots! No, not with that, oh god, who's going to clean this up?

Parent and Parent

1. Playdate - Oh my gosh you'll love my friend, he has a kid too! It's a blind date based solely on being parents, and your kids are there as well. Oh this should be fun.
2. Field Trip - You're both chaperoning for the school field trip, I hope you get on well together because that's one long bus journey.
3. Support Group - It's a lonely, difficult road, so it's nice to have somebody to talk to that understands that your sweet, adorable child gets less sweet and adorable after the fourth screaming fit.
4. Your child did WHAT? - You're both called in to the office because your kids have been fighting. Or caught making out. Or otherwise getting in trouble. Who gets the blame here?
5. Other - Go nuts. Literally, kids are hard.

[ akaashi loves his job. being a pre-school teacher can be difficult a lot of times but akaashi doesn't mind; it's all worth it in the end, seeing his kids happy when they try and learn new things. it's always worth it when he sees his kids proudly tell their parents about their big achievements each and every day.

some days it's particularly hard, especially if one or a couple of his kids don't listen to him, or when one of them is feeling unwell. akaashi's heart sinks too; he may not be their real parent but he stands in as one for them inside the school.

today, it's one of those days. one of his kids had the sniffles but had been feeling fine all throughout the morning session. things went bad however, after the morning break.

akaashi excuses himself from the classroom while his class are concentrated on coloring, taking his phone out of his pocket and dialing a familiar number. ]

True to her word, a black sports car pulls into the driveway at about 5:45, and the passenger door opens to release Trixie, obviously hopped up on sugar and carrying an array of souvenirs, including a bag of cotton candy and a stuffed tiger nearly as big as she is. Maze has not, thankfully, given the kid liquor, but three milkshakes and a huge slice of chocolate cake with ice cream is probably just as bad.

Maze herself gets out of the driver's side, all leather and bare midriff, and she's smiling as Trixie goes by. She's not as excited to get pulled to the front porch by the hand, but whatever.

To say Kitty was nervous was an understatement. It wasn't all that long ago that she had graduated with her teaching degree, and while she had picked up substituting whenever she could, this was her first lengthy tenure. Also, her first parent/teacher conference.

So far her time in this position had been a little... rocky. The students had loved Mrs. Jones, so when she'd gone on maternity leave and Kitty had taken over, then hadn't been quite so welcoming. Or well behaved. In truth, it had been kind of a nightmare, but she had thick skin and strong determination.

If she could get through tonight then what could be worse?

Taking a moment to collect herself when a particularly hostile set of parents walked out, she stood and took a few deep breaths before accepting the next on her list.

Fenrir sat sullenly in his chair, staring down at the floor with his arms folded across his chest. He didn't see why he had to be in trouble, the boys he'd been fighting had started it, they just hadn't counted on Fenrir and his anger management issues, and it definitely hadn't been them that finished it. Just because they were far more beaten up than he was, didn't mean he should be the one with his father called for his apparent misdeeds to be reported to.
