When is a monster not a monster? (oh, when you love it.)

the monster & the maiden fair meme

There's a long precedent in folklore and myth of beautiful young people - both men and women - being kidnapped by monsters: dragons, beasts, goblins, demons, elves, vampires, wolves, or even evil humans. In the end, however, these prisoners are almost always rescued and brought back to civilization to live a normal and happy life.

But what if they didn't want to leave their jailor?

They've seen behind the surface and have begun to sympathize with this "monster;" no, more than that, they've fallen for them. Will this story have a happy ending? Will the monster believe that anyone could love them? Most importantly, though, can the two of them be left alone without any attempts at a "rescue?"

how to play
  • Comment with your character, your preference, and what role they'll play. Feel free to AU characters to your desire role.
  • Reply to others.
  • Thread anything that could remotely fit under the umbrella theme. Was the kidnapping just that, or did both parties know (and care) for each other before, making it a collaborative, mutual effort? Perhaps you'd prefer to play the actual Beauty and The Beast-style getting to know each other or seeing behind the grizzly facade. What about an attempted "rescue?" Or maybe you could thread out a scene where the prisoner runs away from the society they were forced back into and returns to their beloved beast! It's all up to you. You could even do smut if you wanted to, but this isn't a smut meme.

[It wasn't that Ginko wanted to be distant. She just wasn't used to this new human body, how to express those feelings more directly and how to regulate her voice better. Not that it mattered at all since she couldn't really explain those things.

One thing she's good at, though, is walking up on people. She knows how to keep her footsteps light. Then by the time she's within grabbing distance--]

...hi. Growl.

[She stops walking. Maye she shouldn't just grab her right away.

[Sena doesn't know. Her knowledge is limited to the surface appearance, to the attitude Ginko displays, not the one she wishes she could manage. That's why the distance was there between them, at least in Sena's mind. She has no idea she was being followed.

The voice surprises the blonde enough to cause her to jump slightly, blonde hair swirling around her as she quickly turns. It's a feminine, cute voice so she's not afraid, but the startled expression remains for a few seconds more.]

...Yurishiro..san? [Sena blinks, her mouth and eyes finally returning to the neutral position. Why was she here? Girls didn't approach Sena so she can't help but be suspicious.] What is it?

[She sniffs at the air. Was that a new shampoo? It smelled good; a suitable scent for Sena. It didn't overpower her natural smell at all unlike some of the shampoos that their classmates use. She walks forward a couple steps.]

I wanted to say 'hi'.

[Wasn't that obvious?]
mightletyouknowme: (Just a little embarrased)

Really?

[She voices her surprise before she has time to catch herself. Why? Females didn't like saying hi to Sena. She should know, she had tried, and Ginko had seemed so distant, so cold. It makes no sense.

Of course, some of that was Sena's own biased expectations.]

I-I mean...of course you would. [Suddenly, a blush overtakes her cheeks and she has to look down. This had never happened before. What did she do? And Ginko was cute...] Since you said it first, I should say it back.

...Hi.

Yeah. [Ginko would seem aloof to a great many people, especially to someone like Sena who wasn't used to her. She steps closer.]

The place I'm staying at is this way and I saw you. [A lie but she did often go this way often.] You looked lonely, growl.
mightletyouknowme: (Bothering me)

[Not only is Sena not used to Ginko, she's used to the snobbery of other girls.]

Huh? It is? [Sena had never noticed her before, but Sena didn't always notice people other than herself.

Reaching up, she catches a lock of blonde hair between her fingers and begins to twirl it.]
Then... it would only make sense if we walked together, right?
lycoctonum: (Don't break my heart)

[Ginko might be stoic in general but she seemed to obviously perk up at that.]

Growl. I'd like that.
mightletyouknowme: (So cute!)

[She was getting to walk home with a cute girl?! It's not a friend, but Ginko is cute and female and that's all Sena's ever wanted.]

Where do you live?

[Without waiting for an answer, she turns back around and begins to walk.]

[The answer was in the opposite direction but Ginko knows this path well.]

In an apartment building about ten minutes that way. [She calls to her as Sena moves ahead. She lingers back a little, as if she's shy but the real reason? Well, she had to get ready to knock her out.]
