The Be My Therapist Meme

Your characters have been trapped in a strange but comfortable room, with a big desk and couch, and now have to spend some time either talking about their problems or listening to other people's problems and trying to give good advice. Both is fine, too.

The room itself will compel them to at least try to play those roles, and will only release them after they do what it wants them to do.

The problems can be silly or serious, deep or shallow, it's all up to you.

[The List Of Possible Problems]

1. Small but still sucky problems that are just bothersome- They've gotten bad grades at school, they have a bad hair day, they fought with a friend about something really silly, etc etc.

2. Love, relationships and family problems - They're fighitng with their SO, they think their spouse might be cheating on them, they have Mother/Father Issues, their siblings are their worst enemy, etc etc.

3. Lifechanging problems - They flunked out of school, they find out they have superpowers, they find out they are the only one who can pilot a super robot, etc etc.

4. 'Our world as we know it is in danger' type problems - The Dark Lord is raising and is trying to take over their world, they have zombie problems, the Evil Space Empire is coming for their planet, their experiments with time travel ended up unraveling reality, etc etc.

5. Work related problems - They have to deal with the boss from hell, how are they supposed to defend the Earth with all those budget cuts, etc etc

6. Money problems - They have to deal with budgeting, inheritance problems, etc etc. Or maybe they just can't afford that fancy car...

7. Trauma related problems - Something bad happened to them, be it the deaths of important people or being trapped in a warzone or anything else, and they have to deal with the resulting trauma.

8. Really cracky problems - I hate my superheroine uniform, my brother always chews my slippers when he turns into a werewolf and I wish he'd stop, etc etc.

9. Something else

[How To]

1. Post as your character. (Please write down the name and canon/fandom of the character in the subject line, and also if they're canon, AU, crossover or OC, etc.)

2. Please choose your character's role - Therapist (Counsellor) or Client - and set the first scene. Setting the scenes for both is fine, too. (It is also all right for the characters to take turns being the therapist and the client, if that's what you want to do)

...You know, it actually wouldn't surprise me if Dave swung both ways. That's sort of the epitome of his "chill" factor that he's always going for.

Correction; Dave Strider wants to be too cool for gender distinctions in the dating arena. In actuality he's just an awkward nerd in sunglasses who doesn't give a shit.

Which somehow comes full circle and is pretty cool of him. Huh.

It's a little uncanny when Strider actually lives up to one of his boasts, isn't it?

Yet another example of life catching us off-guard by taking strange twists and turns. Unfortunately for the general populace this particular twist has a horrid ego that won't let anyone forget it.

[He smacks his head into his forehead.]

[Gosh he likes that sound. He shifts a little on the couch and lays on his side, worrying at his lower lip with his teeth.]

...hey, Rose?

[she quiets down, looking over at him] Yes?

[It's funny because he was okay, and then suddenly it's like the sheer magnitude of having someone he can talk to just crushes him until he's squashed flat against the couch there, and he bites his lip hard enough to leave marks for a second before he rolls onto his stomach and puts his face against the fabric to hide it.]

[he can't see it, so Rose feels comfortable letting her expression soften at the edges a little. her lips quirk up on one side as she leans over and ruffles his hair fondly]

[His glasses get smushed into his face kind of funny but he doesn't seem to mind, given it takes him a while before he sits up again.]

I feel pretty silly right now.

[by the time he's up and able to see her once more Rose has arranged her face into faint (and safe) amusement]

[He rubs at his arm a little bit, sniffing, and eventually pushes his glasses up onto his forehead to swipe the heel of his hand across his eyes.]

Does everybody cry at therapy? Oh-- I know, you collect their tears for weird gothic rituals. What are they, seances?

[He laughs at his own joke, because he's that awkward in this moment, but just winds up driving the heel of his hand into one eye and sitting there.]

Voodoo spells, actually. If you awaken one night to find yourself being ridden by a Cajun god of darkness I promise that it's simply another step in the psychiatric process.

[she rubs his shoulder comfortingly, not quite sure if she should go in for another hug. Rose is really godawful at this physical affection shit, and she's never felt it quite so keenly as she has today. some great friend she is.]

[He chuckles a little bit and nods, flashing a very brief, wobbly smile in the direction of the Rose-shaped blur of color where she sits.]

Sorry. Also sorry to the Cajun god, I don't really like spicy food.

There's nothing to be sorry for. I'm certain that he'll learn to stifle his disappointment.

[although it's pretty obvious that she meant that first sentence towards him personally rather than the joke]

[He bites his lip again and puts the heel of his other hand against his other eye, laughing quietly. At this point he's just leaking.]
