The Be My Therapist Meme

Your characters have been trapped in a strange but comfortable room, with a big desk and couch, and now have to spend some time either talking about their problems or listening to other people's problems and trying to give good advice. Both is fine, too.

The room itself will compel them to at least try to play those roles, and will only release them after they do what it wants them to do.

The problems can be silly or serious, deep or shallow, it's all up to you.

[The List Of Possible Problems]

1. Small but still sucky problems that are just bothersome- They've gotten bad grades at school, they have a bad hair day, they fought with a friend about something really silly, etc etc.

2. Love, relationships and family problems - They're fighitng with their SO, they think their spouse might be cheating on them, they have Mother/Father Issues, their siblings are their worst enemy, etc etc.

3. Lifechanging problems - They flunked out of school, they find out they have superpowers, they find out they are the only one who can pilot a super robot, etc etc.

4. 'Our world as we know it is in danger' type problems - The Dark Lord is raising and is trying to take over their world, they have zombie problems, the Evil Space Empire is coming for their planet, their experiments with time travel ended up unraveling reality, etc etc.

5. Work related problems - They have to deal with the boss from hell, how are they supposed to defend the Earth with all those budget cuts, etc etc

6. Money problems - They have to deal with budgeting, inheritance problems, etc etc. Or maybe they just can't afford that fancy car...

7. Trauma related problems - Something bad happened to them, be it the deaths of important people or being trapped in a warzone or anything else, and they have to deal with the resulting trauma.

8. Really cracky problems - I hate my superheroine uniform, my brother always chews my slippers when he turns into a werewolf and I wish he'd stop, etc etc.

9. Something else

[How To]

1. Post as your character. (Please write down the name and canon/fandom of the character in the subject line, and also if they're canon, AU, crossover or OC, etc.)

2. Please choose your character's role - Therapist (Counsellor) or Client - and set the first scene. Setting the scenes for both is fine, too. (It is also all right for the characters to take turns being the therapist and the client, if that's what you want to do)

3. Tag, thread and have fun!

[Oh, does he have problems. The Master has nine hundred years of them. The Time Lord is far from sane, centuries of bitterness and loneliness and the constant drumming in his mind causing him to live in the realm of almost pure insanity.

He does not look very amused to be stuck here, and is loathe to talk about his own issues.]

[Lyrl really doesn't need a therapist--or at least no more than his father does--but he has no choice. His father is making him.

Probably as a political ploy of some kind, but nonetheless.

Lyrl sat down and worked out problems in his head. At least talking would not take up all of his concentration. Far from it.]

[ Good luck getting so much as a word out of this one. She does have a pen and notepad to scribble thing down on, though, and she's at least vaguely willing to do so, no matter how vacant she might seem. ]

[Counselor]

[ either way works! either he will be the worst client ever or the worst therapist ever so uh pick your poison |D ]

As a client: [Sabriel could understand that she had gone through things most people her age hadn't. Like fighting the Dead, losing her father, and finding out that she was the latest in a line of people expected to dedicate their lives to fighting the Dead and Free Magic. She was also aware that her nightmares had been getting worse ever since her brush with death at the hands of Kerrigor, and there were dark circles clearly visible under her eyes.

Still, she leaned back on the couch, and carefully removed her sword-belt and bell bandolier, setting them aside, and giving the individual at the desk an exhausted smile.]

As a counselor: [Sabriel sits down at the desk, looking like the awkward teenager she is. Just ignore that she's reading a spellbook instead of anything related to therapy.]

[Shakes a little, then sits down on the couch and begins swaying his legs. It seems like an awfully large room, but in reality, it's actually kind of small. And very nice looking.]

Edd gulps.

[Everything is so peaceful and quiet, just the way he likes it. Usually. Still young, he finds many things to be...untidy.]

[ Mikoto has no idea how she ended up here. She didn't even know until now that she had, well, "problems". Still, all she knows is that she's sitting on one of the chairs, pouring her heart out to this funny-looking shrink. ]

... I- I mean, it's not that I don't like admitting some of the things I like. But some things just has to be kept to yourself, right? And t-that doesn't mean that I like that guy either! Especially for a really stupid person like him who'd go out of his way to save anyone....

[ SO MANY CONFLICTED FEELINGS. But then she looks up at this "counselor". ]

Oi, are you even listening?! Aren't you being paid to do this kind of work?

[He'd invited Ariadne to his home in hopes of being able to talk dream sharing with her, find out if she's been working any more after the Fischer inception. There was no way he was going to travel with two young children, even if he was growing restless and a little depressed from staying in constantly.

The kids were playing quietly in the living room when he answered the door, inviting Ariadne in with a relieved smile.] Glad to see that you made it in one piece.

[Yep, losing both her abusive husband and her young daughter has definitely taken it's toll on her...]

[Stuart will be sat in a chair, arms folded defiantly.]

I don't need any therapy. I'm a master of my own emotions, and there's nothing you can do or say to prove me wrong.

[ of course he's listening! of course. he's nodding, see? perhaps he looks a bit . . . out there ( every few minutes he kind of-- spaces ), but he's listening! in some shape of form!

gamzee gives his final nod just before she looks up, then putting his hands up in a small gesture. ]

Shhhhh-- [ closing his eyes, he claps his hands together. ]

This be a place where tits gotta stay calm, yeah?

[ pointing to his ears ]

[ resting his elbow on his knee and his chin to the palm of his hand, he gives mikoto the calmest, near lazy look-- but he's smiling. he's okay with this.

Now, you tell Gamzee here some more about this motherfucker.

[ emotional problems including curses, dead boyfriend trauma, and crippling regret! it might be difficult to get something easy out of her, but in due time. soon. all she needs is one more person. ]
