[He would not make her hide, make her sneak around, make her some shameful secret. As much as he were tempted. It would certainly make things easier on him. But no. She had compromised, even sacrificed much already, simply to admit her emotions and be patient. He found as awkward, even confused as his desire for her could make him feel at times...he wasn't ashamed of her. The only shame he felt was entirely on his own.

He was bold and opinionated still. It was simply his character. If he was going to do this...if he really was going to become the sort of man who couldn't contain himself to one woman...then he would own up to it.

It would be a scandal that would rock wizarding London, surely. But maybe in the aftermath of that awful war, what everyone could use was the distraction of a little juicy scandal. With irony and wryness, Lucius felt he could be only so gracious as to do society the service and provide.

He made dinner arrangements for two at one of the most upscale restaurants on Diagon Alley. A place for the wealthy, the connected and the cultured. A place to see and be seen. And he sent the invitation to Hermione, asking her to join him there, naming the time and place.

Hopefully in the midst of everything else that was sure to be going on, at the same time they could still manage a touch of romance.]

[Hermione has enjoyed the time she has spent with Lucius over the last few weeks, getting to know him better since their intimate encounter. And it was nice learning about him. She knew that being involved with him was complicated -- after all he was still married to Narissa.

But the moments she had with him meant the world to her. And it was the small things that made things even more special: the walks through his garden, researching books in his library (or convincing him to help her look over a book selection in another part of the world), listening to him, and those private stolen moments of affection and desire.

Hermione never asked for more from him, so it was appreciated that he didn't feel ashamed of her. Even though he was still battling some of his own inner conflicts still. She didn't imagine any of this was easy on him.

From her own social circle, Harry and Ginny were both aware of the scandal. It had been a difficult conversation with Harry, one that still tested their friendship at times. Sooner or later, more people would discover the relationship. But Hermione was not afraid to fight for them. She could still be quite stubborn.

When Hermione received the invitation for dinner arrangements, it made her smile. She never had an opportunity to visit the upscale restaurant where she was to meet Lucius -- but she was determined to put her best foot forward.

And because she had seen the romantic offer for what it was, Hermione also took the time to select a new dress, jewelry and also style her hair. The blue dress she had chosen was very suitable for the upscale restaurant, without making it seem like she had gone overboard on her selection for the evening.

Of course, being Hermione, she arrived to the restaurant a little early, ready for the outing. And of course, just to see Lucius again.]

[The last time he had been in a position to invite a lady out for an evening with him -- well it had been some years, but Lucius was used to his dates being fashionably late. It seemed de rigueur for the daughters of high society families, for some reason. Lucius would arrive promptly on time and expect to wait around for ten minutes or so, at his leisure.

He had on a set of well-made dress robes - a very pale shade of periwinkle that was almost silver, that at first glance seemed to be one solid color but when he moved and the light shifted across the thin folds of the finely tailored fabric it would catch on the ornate, almost delicate spiraling patterns of gray and white embroidery, so finely-done as to almost seem translucent. His shoes were polished, he had a pin in his cravat that matched his cuff-links and the button on his vest, and he was wearing his hair down, shining sleekly. In one hand he carried that heirloom cane with the serpent-topped handle, in the other he held a large bouquet of fresh roses, pink and orange wrapped in a white satin ribbon.

And he was unable to hide how his face fell in bemusement when he strolled up and saw that Hermione was already waiting by the door for him. He glanced back at the big clock in the nearby square -- no, he hadn't misplaced the time.]

You're early. [Stating what must be obvious, by his expression:] I wasn't expecting that.

[He does his best to recover, though, taking her outfit in and feeling a fresh rush of attraction to her. My, but she does clean up well, doesn't she.]

You look lovely.

[One advantage to her being early, Hermione is able to appraise him when he comes up to the door, where she was waiting. Of course, Lucius is a very well dressed man. Always has been. Tonight is no exception. Her eyes dance a little as they watch the fabric of the robes move against his skin. The warmth of her brown eyes brighten further upon spying the flowers.]

Thank you Lucius. And you are simply breath-taking, as usual. [She laughs softly]

Oh, what, these old things. I hardly ever take them out of storage.

[Blatant lies. He's smiling a touch both shrewd and wry as he forces the quip. He tucks his walking stick into the crook of one arm for the moment, so he can hand her the flowers with both hands and an air of ceremony.]

For you, my dear, of course. It seems you were able to find the place all right?
