Buddy Cop AU meme

You're two renegade cops with nothing to lose. A loose cannon who plays by his own rules and a tight cannon who plays by everyone else's rules. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Shit's getting real? You better believe it. Shit's always real when you two are on the beat. This, is the Buddy Cop AU post.

Rules:

1) You're a character posting in a meme (blank or not, don't care) with your character's name and fandom in the subject line.
2) They're a character replying to your comment.
3) YOU FIGHT CRIME!

For the creatively stunted, I do have some prompts if ya need 'em.
1. Out On The Beat
Out on patrol in your squad vehicle of choice or on foot. Looking out for action, be it someone stealing from a little old lady or a gang getting ready to beat some poor schmo up.

2. No Time for Backup!
Looks like they have you surrounded! It's a firefight/fistfight, and you two are in the middle of it! What are you gonna do? Run for it? Call for backup? Or go down in a blaze of glory? Or none of the above.

3. Next Time, I'll Have Your Badge!
One (or both) of you just got chewed out by the chief because your methods are reckless and unreliable! Seriously, you killed at least 40 people AND ran your squad car into their hideout! Who do you think you are? Also, you're off the case! What do you do now?

4. We're Going Undercover
No, not like that, you crazy smut writers. But, you're going to need to get the drop on these crooks, or get some info out of them. Luckily, you're a master of disguise. Yup, you two are going to have to dress up and act like them or something along those lines in order to get the info you want!

5. Looks Like He Was Murdered Over Here
Man, fuck those detectives. They aren't finding anything important. No, you and your buddy could probably figure this out just by looking about the crime scene. From the bloody outline on the wall to the lab in the basement, you probably have this covered. Just remember, don't touch anything.

6. A Good Ol' Fashioned Game Of--
Good Cop, Bad Cop. You finally got the lead you're been waiting on, and all that's left is to get the info you need out of them. Thus, you and your friend get the opportunity to interrogate the poor sucker and make sure that they talk. In order to do that, one of you might have to become a little unstable, and the other may have to act as if they're trying to comfort them. Don't forget to ask, WHERE ARE THEY

7. Another Day Done
Welp, you two are officially off duty. What're you going to do now? Go out for drinks? Go looking for trouble now that you're not restricted by the law? Or maybe talk about the tough day you had of foiling evil. Doesn't matter, now you have the whole night to think about it.

8. Wildcard
Mix/match or make your own. Anything goes!

[Basil hadn't been interested in working with any other of the moronic imbicles that populated the ZPD. Hopps, though, he had heard, was something of a rarity. First bunny officer to be accepted into the ZPD, and her reputation was glowing. All in all, she might be a little less annoying to work with]

Just Basil, if you don't mind. You're late, Officer Hopps, I've examined the body and I can tell you that this "murder scene" will be in the papers tomorrow as the latest in the string of unexplained suicides. It is murder, however. The question is how do we find our murderer without exposing ourselves...?

[Yes, he went straight to shop talk. No time to mess around, after all. There was a case to be dealt with]
carrotcop: (Not amused)

[personal profile] carrotcop 2016-03-06 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[Judy jolted as the other corrected her then chastised her for being late, ears standing upright before they gave a twitch and fell back. Her expression went from one of surprise to annoyance slowly but surely until she finally crossed her arms, puffing up a bit.]

I'm sorry, detective-- [She will use your title, thank you very much.] --there was a lot of traffic thanks to this current situation.

[She paused then glanced over to the crime scene.]

What makes you so sure it's a murder?
worldstiniestviolin: (in need of deeper thought)

[personal profile] worldstiniestviolin 2016-03-06 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Basil looks her over]

I have no title. I'm not a part of your... force. I'm a consultant for the more difficult cases. And this is one of them.

As for why I am sure it's murder, consider each individual. There's no connection between any of them apart from the very remote locations in which they have shown up. Similar suicides are usually from people who are close to each other, but these people... completely ignorant of the others, all from different social backgrounds.

And that it effects both predator and prey animals? Someone is playing a game, Officer, and we will solve it. What did you think of the body?
carrotcop: (Awyeah~)

[personal profile] carrotcop 2016-03-06 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Then Mr. Basil it is.

[Not a detective? He was just a consultant?

That didn't make a whole lot of sense but if he was called in on difficult cases, then he had to be good.

She quickly absorbed everything he was saying, snatching her notepad out of her belt and jotting down a few notes. While she was good at what she did, notes helped. Especially when so much information was being given at once.]

I..well it did seem a bit strange that a suicide would had landed like that. [Tapping her pen against her lip, Judy frowned.] It's almost as if they were already dead when they fell but I didn't see anything that would point to foul play, sir.
worldstiniestviolin: (on the hunt for a clue)

[personal profile] worldstiniestviolin 2016-03-06 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
No, neither did I... Which would imply that we are up against someone who is capable of thought on these matters. Potentially dangerous, but also gives an advantage. Someone clever will want to have the credit for what they are able to do, they won't be pleased with the media coverage.

[Basil walks around, thinking carefully. He turns to Judy]

This city. Organised crime? Are there any connections we can exploit. Clever suggests, at first, experience, and if we can rule out the obvious we'll be able to actually get on with solving this case.

[Because, yes, Basil was informed that it was "probably one of the Families" and was unimpressed with the narrow minded nature of the comment]
carrotcop: (Dear god)

[personal profile] carrotcop 2016-03-06 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Judy paused in her writing to glance up at Basil, hesitating for a moment before she let out a breath.]

I have a few connections we could use, though I can promise you that they had nothing to do with this.

[She wasn't about to have Fru Fru and her family slapped with false accusations.]

But we can talk to them. If anyone knows something about what's been going on, they would. There's also plenty of back alley places we could try to search, question some animals but they won't take kindly to someone with a badge.
worldstiniestviolin: (puffing away angrily)

[personal profile] worldstiniestviolin 2016-03-06 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't believe it is any of the organisations or Families, but we have to "rule them out."

[See that unimpressed look on his face? Honestly, these people had no capability of thought. He considers what Judy says]

I have no badge, so I am in a better situation than you. However, Officer, I do require a second in this case... I believe we will have to make you someone without a badge.
carrotcop: (Meter maid...)

[personal profile] carrotcop 2016-03-06 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Right.

[Well at least he wasn't jumping to conclusions. Yet.

The rabbit stared at him for a moment before her expression melted into something that was a cross between unsure and curious.]

What exactly did you have in mind, Mr. Basil?

[Undercover work wasn't something she had much experience with yet.]
worldstiniestviolin: (sees through rattigan's terrible plans)

[personal profile] worldstiniestviolin 2016-03-06 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Surely you've been briefed on going undercover, Officer? It's the same simple procedure. We just won't be requiring any back-up from your... rather clomping colleagues.

[Yes he is being rude, but it's more to do with his belief on the general lack of intelligence in most police officers]
carrotcop: (Catching runaway donuts)

[personal profile] carrotcop 2016-03-06 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh Basil. Why do you have to say things like that?]

Clomping colleagues?

[Her ears go back and her grip on her pen tightens.]

I'm more than willing to help you, Mr. Basil, but I will not let you insult any member of the ZPD like that!
worldstiniestviolin: (tiny baker street irregular in training?)

[personal profile] worldstiniestviolin 2016-03-06 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
They called me in because these recent cases are "too difficult" for them to approach. You, on the other hand, are rare in that you are a police officer who still possesses a mind capable of noticing small details and making deeper deductive thought. In comparison, they are rather clomping behind.

[He's not a complete ass, he's just... very, very blunt]
carrotcop: (Not amused)

[personal profile] carrotcop 2016-03-07 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone has their specialties and their specialized abilities, Mr. Basil. Being small let's me see things other wouldn't. It has nothing to do with a lack of ability on their part.

[She can feel her fur bristling but she refuses to get too heated, her foot absently tapping against the ground. The rabbit is quick to press her weight down to still the motion, letting out a breath as she tucks her notepad away.]

I think we need to get back to the case, sir. If we're going to go undercover, then let's do it. The sooner we get information the better.
worldstiniestviolin: (did i say the wrong thing)

[personal profile] worldstiniestviolin 2016-03-07 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
[He does not roll his eyes at her loyalty - though he suspects that some of her colleagues may not show the same to her - but does jump on the mention of the case]

Yes, we will need to make sure you are as unrecognizable from Officer Hopps as possible. I have not been in Zootopia long myself, but I do have my network set up to gather information from. Still... that they're able to move the bodies without leaving traces... Quite intriguing, wouldn't you agree?

Come on, Hopps, the game is afoot!
carrotcop: (In pursuit!)

[personal profile] carrotcop 2016-03-07 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well yes, it is pretty interesting--

[Her nose twitched as he just continued on, announcing that a game was afoot. Game? Who in the world thought of this sort of thing as a game?

And here she thought she had a lot of..spirit? Energy? It was one of those.]

Right! Let's get going then! We can talk to Mr. Big first and get some idea of what parts of town we should tackle. If anyone's going to know, it's him!

[She couldn't help but bounce on her feet a bit, giving a bit of a hop step to the side as she motioned for the mouse to follow.]

This way, Mr. Basil!
worldstiniestviolin: (sees through rattigan's terrible plans)

[personal profile] worldstiniestviolin 2016-03-07 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
Lead on, McDuff!

[Basil gave Judy a nod, following behind her.]

Mr Big would be the head of the organised crime syndicate, I would assume?
