THE IMPRISONED MEME

Maybe you know exactly how it happened, or maybe your memory is hazy. Either way, you're now a prisoner. How will you deal with the strain of losing your freedom -- will you cooperate with your captors or will you plot behind their backs? Lend a hand to your fellow prisoners, or turn informant? Make a small fortune in black-market goods and information, or make a break for it? The choice is up to you: will you be a number, or a free man?

How-To:
* Post with your name, fandom, etc. in the subject line.
*In a sentence or two, describe what you're in for, if you're innocent or guilty, and anything else you think helps set the scene. If your character's canon involves a canonical prison (Azkaban to Alcatraz), feel free to include a note on the setting, or make one up.
* Play around and tag other people! Feel free to decide for yourselves what role you'll play when tagging, based on the other person's description. Some suggesions:
- Their lawyer, come to discuss the case
- A visiting loved one. Enjoy your file cake, sweetie!
- The Warden. Are you a fair person trying to do a just job, or a corrupt megalomaniac?
- A fellow prisoner. Maybe you're here to show the new guy the ropes. Maybe you want to warn them of an unknown danger, bring them in on an escape attempt, or just commiserate on your situation.

The sky is the limit and there is no RNG. Play nicely, respect one another's boundaries, and have fun!

[Mission gone wrong. Way wrong. Trapped in a foreign prison with no backup or way out.]

[She really would have preferred a trip to Malaysia, but its close, more conservative Brunei was where some poor soul was being held, and thus where the mission called her.

The plane ride was spent listening to CDs on the basics of the Malay language, drinking Ginger-ale, and sitting in the body of a rather overweight man who just really, really wanted to visit the country's famous mosque. White with a bit of stubble and a wallet heavier than an anchor, it wasn't exactly a "good" form by any means, but it was perfect for what she was called to do.

As soon as she was off the plane, said fat American disappeared into the crowd, as odd as that would be to people who'd spotted him before. A man like that couldn't just disappear.

But he had. Disappeared only to come out the other side of the alley as a man who, appearance-wise, had been born and raised there. Born and raised and kept his head down, didn't make eye contact with women, and walked with ease down a dirt road overtaken with thorns and moss. She found what she knew to be there easily, nodded her head to be let in and mumbled a few words in Malay, and once in, she was good to go. Good to go to work, that is, as she was taking over for a shift from a guard who had just gotten up and left his desk.

Which meant that she was all alone in the body of a man that had been dead since the plane touched down in the basement level of a shitty prison where she had one objective: retrieve Barton.

It was easier still to recognize who Barton was. Not because he was the only white man, but because he was one of two people, the other incapable of speaking English. It made complete sense why Mystique had been the perfect selection for this...retrieval. A glance around to find only one security camera, a wire easily snipped to end its transmission, and she was right in front of those rusty, slimy bars with a clipboard, tapping it against them and giving him a stern look from the body of a stern guard.

A stern guard who took out his gun while staring across the way...only to also produce a silencer from his pocket, twist it into place, and nod his head. A nod of the head, a brief glance in the direction of the other prisoner, a flash of yellow eyes, and, suddenly, there was only one man being locked up. Alive, at least.]

You're coming with me.

[Perfect English, and not the same voice as he may have heard before. Keys unlock the door as she mutters:] You better be able to move quickly.

( Distrust in Asgard, husband disappeared, the Lady Sigyn has been exiled, cast out to a location unknown to her, trapped in a cell and kept away from her children. Her wrists are bound. A fitting entrapment, she thinks idly to herself. At least they have not muted her voice.

She paces and waits, singing to herself, reciting memorized stories and poetry - anything to keep herself from going mad. She couldn't go mad, not when there is still so much to live for, not when there are those who still rely on her. Would he come for her? Would anyone? )

[ It's not with a bang but with a whisper that rebellion begins, not with the grandeur that had been flashed on Midgard. This was a far more serious matter, his own flashy tricks could easily get her killed-- not his goal and making this entire exercise futile. Instead he appears from around a pillar, the binding that caged her only causing his expression to harden that much more. Stepping over to the case he moves with the silence afforded a man who has played the predator more often than not. Fingers extended the first thing he does when he is just close enough is to clasp a hand over her mouth. He doesn't need her to let out a scream because she's startled. ]

Continue your story, as if none are here. [ Is all the words he offers just against her ear before his fingers pry at the bindings, curious if there's any magical hold to them. ]

[ Deep within the cylindric cell he sits on the floor, knees drawn near to his chest, his face raised to the bit of light which filters from above. The cuffs on his wrists are thick metal, linked by a gleaming chain, strengthened by wards and spells. Mjolnir is nowhere near, nowhere he can call it from; his strength is bound, it will not come to his hand. Thor is a caged beast, abandoned to solitude, bound to an uneasy and temporary order. Surely this peace cannot last. ]


((ooc: This could certainly be OU, perhaps where he's been captured by an enemy or being held by SHIELD during the events of Thor, but I've also played alignment swap AUs in which Thor was cast out of Asgard for being unrepentantly savage and destructive, and that could work here as well--perhaps he's imprisoned in Asgard now or on earth. [Eliot grunts quietly as he's shoved into the cell. He lands on his face, unable to catch himself with his hands trapped behind his back, a length of chain connecting them to equally confining shackles. He rolls onto his back and looks around the round cell. His eyes narrow as he sees the man sitting in the center if the small room.]

So how did you manage to piss them off?

Well, it was bound to happen sometime, what with being a not-so-secret mage in a society that keeps them locked in towers. Hawke finds himself in a holding cell at the Gallows, handcuffed with runed shackles to keep him from casting any spells. There's no telling how long it's been... mana exhaustion makes it a bit difficult to keep track of time.

But the templars who are continually patrolling outside his cell are making him nervous. Very, very nervous.]

[ Hailing from a land unbeknown to Ferelden was an Elf imprisioned unjustly by the Templar for being none other than a Elf. The guards captured Haldir at the border of Denerim, instantly labeling the marchwarden as Dalish rogue. Despite his protests, the Templar wrongfully arrested him and tossed him in this shoddy jail cell for hours on end. While Haldir certainly possessed no fondness of humans, even he found their treatment of others to be quite deplorable.

Idly watching the mage who stayed in the cell across from him, Haldir wondered if sparking a conversation would shed some light onto the Templars plan for them. He was most certain that the knights weren't going to release them anytime soon, thus they have all the time in the world to talk. ]

[ His voice was low but loud enough for the mage to hear. ]

While it is not uncommon to see Men fight amongst themselves, I am quite curious to know what you've done to spark their wrath.

[Anyone who thinks that seals are docile creatures couldn't be more wrong - they are angry fucking dogs in the water and Selkies are worse. This one is relentlessly kicking at the door and screaming profanities, a tactic that had gotten him attention at the psychiatric ward he'd been assigned to a teen, at least.

This place was different. Lochlann didn't know where he was or how he'd been captured. It didn't look like any sort of prison cell that he knew of. And the more time passed without any answer, the more he began to mull over the usual suspects: vampires, werewolves, Fey cultists, pro-humanity sects.

Well, he would go about pissing people off.

Eventually, throat raw from shouting, he takes a rest and slumps back against the door.]

[Such a noisy creature. But he's certainly finally drawn D's attention. The God approaches, not with caution but with a lazy sort of curiosity spurred by decades of boredom.

There's a click, a crack and a twist and the curious figure leans back casually against the door, regarding the selkie with a fond bit of amusement.

It's been quite some time since his last encounter with one of the creatures.]

While they are debating what to do with her, Integra sits quietly and waits, skirt tucked underneath her and her hands in her lap. She is scared- she is, not that it would be admitted. They have roughed her up a little already, but the Hellsing Heir will not show fear.

It is just a matter of time, either way.]

[The time it takes for him to arrive can be partly explained by his shock at the sheer audacity of taking Integra. Unless of course 'they' don't know who she really is and what she has at her command.

That lesson will be taught in short order.

it was meant to be a routine investigation following a string of unnatural murders, and he's not quite sure how whoever was responsible for landing a solid blow to the back of his head and dragging him here did it in a house full of detectives.

kicks and punches are useless against the unyielding steel door of his prison, and after what seems like hours and hours of yelling through the window laid into one wall without receiving any sort of response magnus gives up in favour of pacing back and forth in the tiny cell, restless, the headache that undoubtedly occurred as a result of that hard knock doing absolutely nothing to improve his mood. damn it, damn it, damn it. ]

[Thor had arranged a meeting with the ruling judge over Magnus's case, he had been vaguely answered about the reasons why his friend was in prison. But the fact that he was in such a lock-down, tight security, facility had Thor's concerns high enough to seek audience with the judge.

The judge permitted him allowance to visit Magnus, however, Thor knew that it was most likely because of his father being the chancellor of state.]

"The leader has heard of your powers. He wants to make use of them. And he has sent me to discover how they work." Itachi crossed the floor quickly. "There are many ways this can be accomplished. Some, far more terrible than others."

[Szayel's hands are bound behind his back and his feet are bound together to he can't do much except kneel in his cell. Not only that, but the last person he had tried to talk into letting him out of his cell had slapped a massive metal plate over his face to keep him from talking. If that wasn't embarrassing enough, the entire cell was spiritually sealed, so Szayel had absolutely no access to his abilities.]

Things like a tiny pink haired intruder into the very cell of the "oooh so very dangerous" Espada via her own personal tunnel which she had to dig herself because Nemu wouldn't do it for some stupid reason.

After the table comes the basket of goodies and after that her box of various teacups and teapots and saucers and doilies and tablecloths and other such fancy little-girl nessecities. And last of all, Yachiru comes up through the hole she's excavated.]

[Innocent? Guilty? The Doctor never answers that question. Hell, there's debate on whether she's even a prisoner, or just a civilian who got caught up and pressed into service by the unpleasant people who run this place.

One way or another, here she is; as much a fixture as the bars on the windows and the concertina wire that tops the walls. She makes her rounds and gripes equally about the prisoners and their captors, but at the end of the day it's probably a good thing she's around.]

So. What is it you've done to yourself this time?

She may not have done whatever she was accused of this time, but the villagers were plenty justified in their hatred of her. And the most obvious means of escape would involve killing and/or injuring a bunch of them and, well, Xena just doesn't have that in her anymore. Not innocents.

So she sits, thinking.]

[And here sits a girl, barely older than a child, really. She's quietly drawing a picture, and it looks like she's a really good artist. Finally, she shifts. She's starting a new drawing. She's drawing Xena now.]

[Sif sits in her cell, and tries to isolate the moment where things could have diverged. They would have had Heimdall’s support. She is sure of it. Had they reached the bridge, they would have gone to Midgard and retrieved Thor. But Loki was smart in his madness, and had spies posted along the way.

She can close her eyes and imagine a different world – a phantom ache. Thor would have stopped Loki, would have seen that one of the fundamental branches of the world tree remained attached. Sif has no love for the frost giants, but there are consequences to ripping out a patch of the universe. The darkened skies outside of the bars on her window tell her so.

She may be the one in a cell, but they are all imprisoned, now. Waiting for the heavens to fall.]

( A pharmaceutical company with one chemist determined to silence those ready to shut down the development of his drug - lethal injections disguised as a weight loss supplement. That much she knew. But their file on this man wasn't as inclusive as she would prefer.

Now to investigate. She doesn't have much time, so she works quickly, breaking the guards down layer by layer. Mockingbird isn't so easily caught - until she finds herself in a room full of sleep gas.

She wakes up handcuffed with a bruised head, blinking blearily into a small gray room with now windows. )

[ Prison.

She'd brought enough people here. Spent enough time during punishments coming down here, dragging people up to their interrogation and torture sessions. Kate supposes it's almost karmic that she'd end up in a cell of her own, with nothing but a bed and poor excuse of a toilet and sink. But, she mused, the idea of being left on her own -- powers suppressed by an injection they'd forced upon her as she was thrown back into Headquarters -- left her feeling less nauseated than being on the Torture Squad.

Kate curls up against the wall, staring at a spider scurrying across the floor, her hands running through her lank, faded hair. Of all the concerns she could have, the state of her hair crept its way to the forefront of her mind most often. It remains the only thought in her mind that didn't play any sort of emotional trick on her -- no fear of what could occur; no ridiculous, unnecessary, and yet present hope that someone might appear (she blamed Faith) -- and thus the only thought she wants to entertain now.

How much longer would she remain here until something happens? Until someone comes to take her from this cell and carry out the sentence she dreads. ]
