[The door whooshes open with a wave of a hand. Luke can mage that, at least, and he rises, albeit a touch wobbly, and waves.]
Come in, please. The vodka is cold, and the room is warm.
[There are some advantages to going out and fighting so much, and saving so many lives. Namely, others making sure you had the parts needed to heat your place.]
[He never asks for these things, but somehow they show up. He tried, during the first few weeks after the Death Star, to return things, but no one would ever admit who did them. So eventually, he stopped, donated a lot of it to charity, and just worked his ass off even harder. So, he's not around a lot, but ends up having a nice place to come back to.]
Sit down, please. [He pours for her, into an equal glass for her.] Try it very slow, and easy, at first.
[She nods, taking this advice to heart because 1) she's never had vodka before and 2) again, Luke Skywalker, master Jedi speaking. He would never deliberately lead someone wrong. She sips and finds herself coughing a bit]
Now close your eyes, and let yourself feel the heat and strength of the vodka as it moves in your. Slowly open your senses entirely to the Force, and feel how the drink adds to the way you see it.
[A slow sip, and he follows his own advice, but keeps on trail of his senses on her. She is doing this for the first time, after all. No need to cast her completely into the deep end.]
[She nods, and closes her eyes. Controlling her breathing, she follows Master Luke's directions, and slowly begins to open her senses entirely to the Force. There is something different about how she can see it now, but she couldn't explain it properly if she tried]
[He can feel her mind sensing, and he nods, smiling a little.] Just feel it. Don't try to do more right now. This is about letting it fill you. The Force, with or without good vodka, is alive and within and without you. The more you feel it, and recognize it, the more it will fill you.
[His voice falls to a melodic sound, almost, the Force filling him slowly, as it always does. He holds it back a little, this time, though. She's new to this, and with her senses open, he doesn't want to hurt her.]
[Vodka boosted, and with it lowering barriers, he reaches out, without moving.]
Rey. Open your senses completely. Let the feeling flow through you.
[Carefully, keeping a hold on it in case he needs to shut it down, he lets the full power of the Force flow through him, and around him, and to her. She has the potential to be one of the strongest Jedi ever, he believes, but even the strongest must start small.]
[But it's not at easy as it sounds, opening your senses completely. She can feel it - just there out of her reach - but nly some of it is managing to flow through her. Is she trying too hard?]
A good thing. [He takes a moment, then speaks quietly, looking at her, eyes warm, if showing some old pain.]
The Force is a tool which we can use, or let use us. Mastery of it brings power, and skill, and the ability to walk your own path, while giving up your own ambitions. Losing one's self to it brings power, and skill, and an answer to all your ambitions and dreams, but the loss of any true hope.
[A faint smile crosses his face.] The choice is yours, and will be, every day of your life.
... I don't see why you have to lose true hope in order to have your own control of the Force. Wouldn't it make more sense to keep your hope, your emotions, and have the control you want?

It just happens to be very strong in the vodka.

And makes the Force a little, well, clearer.
You gain insight, even as you lose control.

Because life should be both of those things, at least a little.
Especially if you can combine them.

[The room is pleasantly warm, that's what Rey notices as she walks in. It's also a nice room. Probably because this is Luke Skywalker]

It's, um, stronger than I thought it would be.

[He settles, watching her, and sipping his own, slowly, very slowly, despite the good taste.] It grows on you.

[She takes another sip, with another slight cough, but she can taste it this time and it does seem to be ... pleasant]

[Her vodka is refilled as he leans back.] Relax. Just... enjoy the vodka. Tomorrow, I can show you a few things to help. You have a lot of potential.
[There is pride, whether he has a right to it or not, in his voice.]

Is potential a good or bad thing?
[The question slips out without her really meaning it to]
