[Funny... It always seemed as though people always considered the zombie apocalypse occurring, but their preparedness for the actual event had been lacking. Didn't take long for cities to crumble, but society didn't break. It fractured, but it still held in the communities scattered across the land despite trouble communicating between them.]
[It was this lack of communication that she had to set out. Being so far away from home when this happened, she hadn't heard anything about the Agent or Alyssa... She had to go back herself and find out if they were okay. Had to try, right?]
[She wasn't the only one though... and turning to her young companion, she nodded.]
Time to move while the activity's low. Still, stay alert. [Not that Naomi would permit harm to befall the girl if she could prevent it, but the smallest slip could spell trouble.]

Looking up, the brunette nods. She admittedly probably wasn't the most helpful, but she worked not to hold Naomi back. For her age, Ib was surprisingly brave, willing to move without hesitation when Naomi gave her instruction.]
Okay. [Voice naturally soft, she doesn't have to whisper.] I'll be careful.

[With her own nod back, Naomi turns and heads to the fence keeping the few people living here in and the zombies out. It wouldn't last much longer; the people were already considering where to head next before it fell completely. Its compromised structure would allow the two of them to slip out this morning.]
[The doctor slips out first, peeking and listening to make sure none of the wandering drove was near again, but they were gone. Stepping out, she waits for Ib, head still turning every which way as she listens. She's... had a few moments in her life that required attentiveness.]

Her skirt drags on the ground, collecting a bit of dust, but that's nothing to make her slow down. A lot of others had shredded clothing, and that her own continued to be in such good shape was a small blessing. She cares more about making it home and making sure neither she or Naomi get hurt.
Ib follows behind, staying as close as she can to the doctor. Once she catches up, she looks around too. Spying something from a street, she tugs at Naomi's shirt. Once she has the other's attention, she points to a building, a window that has a zombie trying to get through the glass. Likely, the other saw it as well, but Ib really does want to be careful.]

[The doctor had seen the zombie; in fact, it's why Naomi was frozen. She watches the zombie, considering their options. It was one zombie, they could probably move on and leave it to trying to break through. She silently ushers the girl to quietly follow, keeping her steps careful still.]

Her footsteps are slow, careful, unhurried by fear. She had always managed an amazing level of calm. Maybe it was more accurate to say she was always good at keeping her emotions level.
The glass seems to hold as the zombie beats against the window, which is a small blessing. As they get further away from the building, it becomes less and less consequential.]

[Eyes forward again, she leads further on in their trek. Where there's one zombie, there might be others somewhere near.]

That's when they can pace themselves a bit more, not too slow but not too fast either.]
Doctor Naomi? [Her voice is soft as she uses the name and title to address her. Looking away from the path for a second, soft but serious brown eyes turn up to look at her traveling companion.]

Yes, Ib? [Had she saw something? Or did she merely have something on her mind?]
