Carlos was running down a sidestreet, ducking around a corner when he saw the girl in the alley. He could see how she thought she was safe for the moment, but he knew where the hoard of zombies were, lumbering towards them, and he grabbed her arm with the hand not holding an automatic weapon as he kept moving.

"You can't stay here. Come on. Run."

Nothing beats the life-lesson "run first, ask questions later" into your head quite like a zombie apocalypse, but Kate had also learned pretty fast that the end of the world didn't exactly bring out the best in people, and "stranger danger" applied as much now as it ever had.

So, she went for a compromise. Run and ask questions.
