THE TWILIGHT ZONE MEME
RULES: Your character has entered a realm outside of normal space and time, where the normal physical laws don't always apply, and where Hitler is always the final boss, robot or not.
Post your character, have others respond and roll the RNG to select a scenario, or not, or just come up with one of your own in the same vein of weirdness you'd expect from the Twilight Zone. All the other normal rules apply; don't be jerks, have fun. And most importantly: Don't treat prompts like golden gospel, you don't have to follow them to the letter. Creativity is always appreciated!
Scenarios:
- There's... Something on the wing!: You're taking a trip somewhere, maybe after just overcoming a psychological obstacle in order to do so. You're okay now, there's no reason to worry... Except that there's something actively trying to sabotage your means of transport. But nobody else believes you about it! Maybe you're just imagining things... or maybe not.
- To Serve Man: There's some friendly alien benefactors who've come to show the world how to survive without war or disease or whatever, but something about them seems too good to be true... Maybe you shouldn't get on that flying saucer after all.
- Careful what you wish for: You've got what you've always wanted! Money, women, men, money, strength, a never-ending winning streak, treasure... but it's not what you thought it would be. Maybe it's just too easy, maybe there's no challenge. Maybe you just can't find any enjoyment in it now that you have it. You might want to relinquish your gift, but maybe the person you got it from isn't too willing to take it back... After all, it's what you wanted, right? Maybe, though, if you've learned a lesson, you can return to your old life. Just don't make the same mistake again.
- Not what they appear: Someone in the room isn't a human... or, well, whatever they're pretending to be. But, maybe they're not the only one. Keep all three eyes open, and play all three hands close to the chest.
- Like you never even left:You're stranded on an alien planet. Though, it looks suspiciously like home. Let's just hope you find out why that is before you run out of water.
- Better left unknown: You've found something that tells your future, or at least answers your yes-or-no questions. So what? ... But what if it's right? What if it can really tell your future? It probably can't, but you'll never know if you just leave it and never come back; though that's probably what you should do.
- Devil Doll:Your ventriloquy partner's turned on you. He's always been hard to work with, but now... Now he's trying to kill you, and nobody believes you. You might want to convince them before you find yourself on the other end of the hand...
- He comes in many forms: It's the devil! Don't let him out of the cage, no matter what he's been telling you. You'd better stop that person before they make a mistake that leads to the next world war, or worse.
- He comes in... pretty much one form (two if you count robot): Arguably worse than the devil, it's HITLER. Shut up, it doesn't have to make sense. Just toss Hitler in there somewhere. Awfulness will ensue.
- How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb: The inevitable has happened (well, it was inevitable during the cold war, anyway). The nuclear holocaust. Hopefully you were in a fallout shelter, and hopefully you didn't have to fight anyone to get into it. Now you can get on with your life, be it dwelling in a vault forever, surviving in the nuclear wasteland, or figuring out why nothing's changed at all even after all that hulabaloo you heard before you locked yourself in a fallout shelter for years.
- Dollhouse: You wake up to find yourself in an empty house (apart from your partner, that is), that is, more importantly, entirely unfamiliar to you. As is the equally empty neighborhood around you. It's weird, the whole place is empty. Except for that creepy laughter you keep hearing. Feel free to go out and look for a working car, but for some reason the whole place seems fake, like a giant toy set...
- What were we fighting about?: You're two soldiers from opposing sides, but unbeknownst to either of you, the war's long over, and you're long since abandoned. Maybe one of you will have the sense to try and call for a cease-fire, and maybe you can even come to understand one another. After all, winning the fight means being alone.
- HO HO HO: You're Santa now! Give people what they've always wanted from your magical bag of gifts! Don't worry if they take it, they won't get anything but garbage out of it. Spread some holiday joy!
- Into the corn: Don't make the kid with the incredible mind-powers mad, no matter what you do. Getting sent into the corn might be a good thing by comparison to what else he/she can do.
- The Outer Limits: What, Twilight Zone not to your tastes? Come up with something better, or rip off the Outer Limits. Maybe one of you's really a ROBOT and you didn't even know it! OOOOOH.
