The How Am I Supposed to Sleep Like This Meme

We've all been through it. The hotel room with the obnoxiously loud snorer, the camping trip with the air mattress that just won't stay inflated, that dog across the street that just won't shut up. You really want to sleep, but it seems like that's not happening tonight, for whatever reason. Use the RNG or pick from the list for some ideas or make up your own scenario!

1. Bed Hog - The person you're sleeping next to is a bed hog, hope you like trying to sleep while balancing on the edge of the mattress with someone's knees in your back.

2. Where are my blankets? - When you went to bed you were nice and warm but now it's freezing! It'd be nice if your partner would share some of the blankets.

3. Keep it down over there! - Looks like you're not the only one not getting any sleep tonight, but your neighbor sounds like they're having way more fun with it. Maybe hitting the ceiling with a broom will get them to knock it off, or asking politely never hurt...

4. The great outdoors! - Camping is a lot of fun, but night time can be an adventure. Maybe the tent isn't big enough, or there's some spooky noises in the woods. Was that a chainsaw killer you just heard?

5. Insomnia - There's no good reason, but you just can't stop tossing and turning. Just try not to keep everyone else awake.

6. Wild card - Pick anything! Or make up your own!

[For as hot as they were during the day, the desert certainly got cold at night. Edgar was a wonderful and generous host, to be sure, but Terra was feeling particularly chilled tonight, and the blankets on her guest bed just didn't seem to be keeping her warm. After spending a while shivering, she decided to go in search of more blankets.

Not wanting to bother or wake anyone, she wondered around aimlessly for a bit, still mostly asleep. So when she found a large, warm, inviting bed, she crawled under the many blankets without a moment's thought. With a soft, contented sigh, she promptly fell back asleep.]

[ Unfortunately there might be a slight problem of having forgotten sleeping bags... and blankets... and pillows. There was a little bit a kerfuffle earlier that day when they were setting out, and while Dad kept trying to pack cakes and John kept trying to remove the cakes from the car, and other objects got taken out and put back in the car at random, it seems all the sleeping gear was a casualty.

So sleeping on a tent floor isn't the most comfortable thing ever, and not exactly easy to do. ]

[The kid's about half his age. He's scrawny. Which means he doesn't take up half as much bed as Dean. He's used to taking up as much of the bed as he likes and when he's sleeping with a lady, to have them snug up against him. Sorry, man, but you're not getting much space here. Survival of the fittest.

Cherry on the top, while smothering Stiles, Dean's also not sleeping too well. Tossing and turning and grumbling. Worst sleeping partner. ]

( Havok thinks it would be nice if, every once in a while, he could keep the nightmares at bay. At least, it might be able to keep him a moment's peace so he can collect himself and actually sleep for the first time in years. Curse his rotten luck, really.

So he tiptoes out of his room, trying not to wake everyone up. Impossible. The floors are creaking and his feet are too heavy. Grimacing, he just tries to make it through the hallway and in the kitchen before anyone notices. He hopes.

It was late when Albus finally pulled himself from the bits of parchment that were tossed about his desk, the candle light making the scrawled ink blots blur together and difficult to read. He yawned and stretched, rubbing at his eyes before he glanced out the window. He was travel weary, he thought to himself. Floo powder had a way of sapping the energy from a person as they popped from fireplace to fireplace all across the country, bits of ash and soot clinging to ones robes. Albus had been busying himself with his research on potions ingredients, busying his days and nights with work and study. He'd spoken to brilliant minds, had come across his fair share of dragons, and poured hours and hours into dusty old manuscripts all in an effort to keep his mind from quieting down. That was the dangerous time when he realized he was fooling himself into believing his hard work was only to further the knowledge of academic wizards. There was a darker, more insidious reason why he was always up until the wee hours of dawn, why his eyes bore the signs of lasting, deep dark circles.

He couldn't sleep.

Insomnia was the word for it, but Dumbledore knew that it was more than that. His mind would always drift to painful memories, ones that refused to wash away with the passage of time. He had a family once and in one hot summer afternoon it had all been taken away. He didn't like dwelling on the past, strived hard to force his mind from thinking about that tragic day but in the quiet night the images seemed to wash over him, haunting him like a ghost.

As Dumbledore looked up he glanced out the window, the stars shining on a cloudless night. He had the strangest sensation that he was the only one awake, the only living person to witness the cool damp of a late spring night. He closed his eyes and tried to desperately keep his thoughts on the present when an odd sound drifted across his lawn. There was something almost muggle about the sound - mechanical in a way and yet unlike any muggle contraption Dumbledore had ever heard before. It seemed to emanate from his room, the grass, even the stars and the sound grew louder as Dumbledore stood, his hand moving instinctively to his wand.
