She doesn't need to be tall though; she has Loki for that.

"Cash and candy? Yeah, sounds like a good time." Only the high-quality candy, of course. None of that high-fructose corn syrup nonsense. "Thank you. Now I feel quite prepared."

His dinner is broken. By which we mean his bowl is empty, oh no, how did that happen?

"Sensible shoes, cash, candy, jacket. You want more stew?" She's already reaching to take his bowl when she asks. She knows that look.

"Yes, please." Look, he's grown manners! For Verity, at least.

She appreciates them. And he appreciates how they get her to do just about anything, she'd guess.

More stew and dumplings for her dumpling. And more mead if his glass was getting low.

"So is it that your parents don't actually feed you when you go home to visit or are you just too excited for the treats you know I'll make you to want any?" The teasing is gentle for him, but it's not exactly a secret she doesn't think well of Odin and Freya.

"I much prefer a home-cooked meal to the meat-on-a-stick I'd get back in Asgardia."

Because Asgardia isn't really home, is it?

He has a very happy Verity cuddled up against him now. Very happy.

"Mm. This is good," he comments, half-way through his second bowl.

"Yeah," she agrees with a happy sigh. "The stew's not bad either."

He laughs softly, and drops a kiss atop her head, before finishing his dinner.

"It is indeed not at all bad."

Careful, Loki, or tonight you might have a melting Verity to deal with. Those kisses are potent.

"I added some mushroom powder to the broth and some sweet smoked paprika."

He can live with a melted Verity.

"Mm. Mushroom powder is one of my favourite seasonings," he comments, as if she didn't know that.

"Is it? Gosh. Must have been really good luck that I thought of it then." Her attempts to play it innocent are not subtle, but polish will come with practice.

"Or something like it," he agrees.

"Mm. Something like." She sets her bowl aside and takes one of his hands instead to massage his palm with her thumbs. "So, what's the plan tonight?"

His fingers twitch, and he vanishes his glove.

"Hnn. Sit on the couch with the most wonderful person in the worlds?" he proposes.

He's such a show-off. "I like this plan. Can I stay until your boyfriend gets here?"

"He's not coming over tonight," he says. "Just you."

"Well, that's better for me. But I'm sorry he's busy." She doesn't have to like the boyfriend, or the idea of the boyfriend she hasn't met, to be sympathetic.

"It's all right," he says. "He has responsibilities of his own; most magical types do."

"Good for you that I've never got anything else to do then." She doesn't mind, except when the boyfriend does come over.

"We should find you another hobby," he says, without much vigour.
