There are many supernatural beings that congregate in groups for survival or protection or just for companionship, not unlike humans. Witches have covens. Vampires have nests. But none of those have connections that can compare to the bond of a werewolf pack.

You should know. You're part of one, either born a werewolf or turned. For humans, blood is thicker than water; for wolves, the pack is to the bone. Of course, with humans, romantic relationships can complicate closeness of other sorts. That's not the case with werewolf pairings, as they tend to grow out of natural pack dynamics and are viewed as just another facet of life. The only difference is that werewolves tend to treat relationships, even potential would-be-mates, with extreme seriousness.

After all, you'll fight for your pack, so you'll fight for your mate, won't you?

I don't know. The history is kind of vague, but I think it's because it's being spread through bite and then packs formed that way.

[He shrugged his shoulders, still stroking his fingers through the Soldier's hair.]

Maybe it's easier to recover if your packmate dies if it's not a mate induced bond?

[He felt a twinge, like some old wound, long since healed, was acting up again. But it was... inside, like he was being reminded of some missing piece he didn't even realize existed. He shoved the thought away, because he wasn't supposed to dwell on thoughts like that. He focused on Rumlow instead.]

Maybe. That... seems like sense.

[He turned the idea over in his mind.]

But if the bond is stronger... wouldn't that make it worth it?

[Unaware of the brief discomfort, he was getting used to being the one to do the talking, even if they had only been pack for a short time. He had plenty of subjects to just babble on about and not tire.]

Maybe those who aren't in high risk situations. It might be nice to experience. Someone to call your own?

[He was young enough, fresh enough and perhaps possessive enough that he didn't yet consider serious consequences of that kind of bond. He only had one pack member, but that might change over time, right?]

[The Soldier breathed slowly, closed his eyes and turned his face into Rumlow's leg, nuzzling slightly. He was not permitted to dwell on those... faint memories that emerged. It wasn't allowed. He had to focus on Rumlow, on his voice, on the hand in his hair.]

I'm not allowed.

[His fingers paused in the Soldier's hair, a bit surprised that such a rule had been laid down in the first place. Was it because the Soldier had to focus on the mission all the time? That didn't make sense after they had spent so long trying to force a pack on this weapon.]

How come? It might make you more productive to get laid.

[He shrugged. He didn't know why, not really. He thought he could remember Pierce saying something along the lines of not wanting the distraction, which made sense, but it was a faint memory, and might not be real.]

I don't know. I'm just not allowed.

[It seemed that his pack mate wasn't allowed to know a lot of stuff, like the guy wasn't even human. He supposed being a weapon jockeyed between packs and hoping something took was a strong indication.]

Maybe they're afraid you'll throw away a mission to save a pack mate instead if the bond was too strong.

[His brow furrowed as he considered that possibility.]

[His brow furrowed further as a thought came to him.]

[Rumlow chuckled and had to hold his side with one hand for his action. His other hand continued to card through the Soldier's hair still.]

You mean, you aren't supposed to orgasm? It might blow your mind?

[He was confused by Rumlow's amusement, and stared up at him, blinking slowly.]

Maybe. But also... most emotions are considered unnecessary.

[He raised an eyebrow and patted the Soldier's cheek affectionately.]

You don't have to have emotions for sex. It's just a release. You feel good for a few minutes and get back to your day after.

[That action surprised him, but he didn't shy away from the contact. He just blinked.]

[He was still fairly uncertain about the entire situation, but if he couldn't trust his packmate, he couldn't trust anyone. So he got to his feet and stood before Rumlow, his stance one of unease.]

[He didn't offer to do this for just anyone; he was doing it for pack. He reached out when the Soldier stood, resting his hands carefully on the Soldier's hips and tugging the other man closer to him. His thumbs rubbed circles through the thick material of the Soldier's trousers.]

You can relax, you know. Nothing painful is going to happen.

[Rumlow tugged him closer and he let it happen, stepped toward his packmate and took a few deep breaths. Relax. He had to relax. If Rumlow said this wouldn't hurt then it wouldn't. He could trust his packmate.

He was just so used to pain.

Slowly but surely, the Soldier's muscles loosened and he stood more easily, more calmly.]

[He waited, letting the Soldier settle down before he reached out and began to systematically open his packmate's fatigues. He paused once he had them open, peering up at the slightly taller man and smirked before slipping a hand into the material and palming the Soldier.]

You're going to have a generally automatic unconscious reaction to stimulus here, alright? It's normal. [Unless HYDRA had already killed the response. He was hoping for a response in a big way from at lack of contact.]

[He blinked in surprise and tensed slightly when Rumlow put his hand into his pants, but relaxed again at his words.

He took a breath and nodded. It was... strange, to have Rumlow's hand there, but not altogether unpleasant. It helped that he knew this wasn't an experiment, that Rumlow wasn't a doctor and wouldn't be prodding and probing with no concern for the Soldier's own comfort.]

[Slowly, he rose to his feet, allotting him a better angle to touch the Soldier and so that he could lean his chest against his packmate's side. He leaned in to breathe in the Soldier's scent, his fingers curling around the asset's dick and stroking slow and easy, like they had all the time in the world.

His nose nuzzled the curve of the Soldier's neck, specifically breathing warm air across the skin to see if he could also get a reaction. Did a half-frozen guy get erections?]
