Life is hard. You can go through rough patches and over bumps, and sometimes it feels as though you're definitely worse for the wear, both physically and mentally. It's nice to have someone - someone more than a friend - there for you in those times...even if you don't think you want them or deserve them. But they're here, and they'll take care of you.

How to Play:
* This is a shipping meme for more tender, soft moments, but a little more serious than your usual "fluff." It's for people who've been broken down by their experience and those who wish to heal them.
* Comment with your character/your preferences. You may also want to specify whether your character will be the one "cared for" or the one doing the "caring" + pertinent information, but for most effectiveness, it's best to be open to both.
* Comment around.

You know what?

Some days, you gotta go screw it and have a drink instead. Or maybe more than a drink... maybe ten. Twenty. Whatever they could get down before one of them ended up passed out at least. It'd be fun. It'd get their minds off-- well. He had no damn clue what was keeping Daimon's mind preoccupied really, just that something was. Figured he knew the guy well enough to know when things were off with him.

And he had his own troubles to deal with, sure, but this seemed like the better alternative at the moment.

So, that's basically how Daimon ended up with a demon showing up with some bottles of the hard stuff tucked under an arm. "So, whatever you're doing, drop it. We're havin' a drink."

Well, unless Daimon was doing something that was end of the world related, then... that might be more important.

Daimon's a little surprised to see him, or anyone really since he doesn't get a lot of house calls unless someone's lost or the there's some sort of world-ending event and the Avengers forgot he had a cell-phone.

He also doesn't expect the sun to be out (low in the sky as it is), which leaves him ducking his head to put himself in Hellboy's shadow, squinting red-rimmed eyes at him.

It takes a moment to regard him, gaze sweeping down to the liquor bottles under his arm, and one brow goes up as he steps back to let him into the dark foyer of his home.

"... are we celebrating something?"

"You look like hell." At least he's got a pretty big shadow to recoil and hide in? He shifts his weight a bit, looking Daimon over again before he steps inside.

"Not really. We don't need to celebrate to have some drinks." He puts the bottles down on the closest table he finds, shrugging.

"What have you been doing in here?" Besides not looking at the sun in a really long damn time, he means.

And he plucks one of the bottles up the moment HB sets it down, at the very least to examine the label as he replies with a dry tone to comment on his appearance. "Yeah that's funny, you're funny."

It's still dark in here, and while he can maneuver around in the dimness, his big friend probably can't, so he gestures at the back wall so some of the candles flicker to life.

There's probably a light switch somewhere but, eh, Daimon's allowed to be showy and dramatic.

"Um...things?" And it looks like like a frat house and library had a brawl in here between the cluttered mess of old books and scrolls set between empty take-out boxes and beer bottles. Usually he kept the place fairly clean (between the bouts of intense research).

Daimon sets down the bottle and picks up a few things to clear a path, and an overturned pizza box up and scurries itself away when he gets too close, leaving a trail of imp prints in pizza sauce.

Candles, really? Well, it's better than the dark... or you know. Maybe. Now he can see the mess that Daimon's keeping his house in, books and old boxes scattered everywhere like a tornado ripped through the area. He shifts, bringing up his left hand to idly scratch the back of his neck.

"Must be some impressive things if they're keeping you this occupied."

Oh, what the hell, Daimon?

"Your pizza box is getting away." He hopes imp and it hasn't just been sitting long enough to actually become sentient on its own anyway.

"Hn? No. I just... lose track of time." He turns his head to watch the box scurry across the floor, nose wrinkling before he snaps his fingers, sending the cardboard up into a burst of flame, screeching imp and all. Luckily the floor is granite so it leaves little more than a scorch mark.

Daimon rubs across his eyes with the back of his wrist and continues on, expecting Hellboy to follow.

"Did I miss something important?"

"That how you clean?" Well, it was effective at least. He squints slightly, watching Daimon for a moment. Yeah, yeah, he's following.

"Eh, nothing that can't wait. Haven't seen you around much... guess I know why now." Hiding off with imps and pizza, apparently.

"C'mon. Let's get comfortable and open those bottles. Your eyes look like they're begging for a break from all the reading."

"I can't keep a maid." Even though the house probably needed one, as big as it was. But you know, probably a little haunted, and there was that thing with the portal to Hell in the basement...

The study is even worse, when they pass through it and down to the den, which seemed to have avoided the whirlwind and was still somewhat tidy.

"So instead of straining them in books I get to look at your ugly mug?" It's all in gruff fondness as heads over to the wet bar to grab a couple of rocks glasses.

"Hey, change of scenery can't hurt, right?" Besides, Daimon's gotta love his mug, often as he wants to drape all over him. He moves to take a seat somewhere, watching Daimon as he grabs the glasses.

He takes the bottles, opening one and setting the other to the side, taking a moment to take a whiff of the contents before filling both glasses.

"So no special occasion? You just missed me, huh?" There's a glint of something like amusement in that worn gaze as he crosses over to pass off one of those glasses.

And yes, he does enjoy draping himself all over him, because he's a big infernal space heater and Daimon's like a damn cat. So when he drops down to sit it's right next to him, resting his back against HB's side so he can prop his legs up over the arm of the couch.

He is like a damn cat. No wonder Hellboy likes him. He shifts, glass in one hand and the other arm draping along the back of the couch as he settles in. If he's going to be furniture, he at least wants to be comfortable while he does it.

"Yeah, you found me out. You never call, you never write..."

"You just don't get into enough trouble without me." He comments, nursing his glass between both palms, letting the liquor take a moment to breathe before he takes an experimental sip.

Both brows go up. "Did you break into your director's liquor cabinet again?"

"You're right. I'd have no excitement at all if you weren't here." Daimon, it ain't poison or anything. He's pretty sure about that anyway.

And c'mon, maybe he did, but-- "Stop askin' questions and drink up. It's good, right?"

Hush you, he's just savoring it a little, it's not like the usual cheap convenience store canned beer they usually grab. He's allowed to be a little hesitant.

"It is good, I just didn't take you for a whisky guy." he finally takes a long pull, even if it burns his throat and leaves a lingering flavor of charred oak on his tongue.

It's nice and warm in the pit of his stomach and he lets his head tip back and eyes close, admiring the complexities of it.

"Next time, I can bring the cheap beer we usually get." He'll even make sure it's the cheapest, just for Daimon.

He shifts a bit, looks down at the half-demon lingering against him for a minute. Well, doesn't he look comfortable "So, what have you been reading up on anyway?"

"As long as you're the one that keeps buyin it." Daimon probably has an entire cabinet full of expensive or one of a kind liquors, but for some reason he likes the novelty of sharing cheap, shitty tasting beer.

He's quiet for a minute, humming thoughtfully. "The end of the world."

Well, wasn't that one of his favorite topics? End of the world. The apocalypse. He's quiet for a few moments, long enough to finish the drink in his hand at least.

"Yeah? What about it?"

"I think we're expecting one." He says it almost casually, but he's probably already run his gamut of hot and cold emotions regarding the subject.

"You can't just say that and not give some details." Expecting one... what.

"Are you tryin' to say there's no way to stop it?"

"Yes and No? Honestly the world comes close to ending on a daily basis around here, this one just seems a bit more..." He hums out a tired out. "Impending-- but I'm told I'm a pessimist."

"Yeah, well... how's it supposed to happen?" Maybe they shouldn't be sitting here, drinking it up, if it's that urgent.

"I'll see what I can dig up."
