STRANDED ON AN ISLAND MEME

How did it happen? Maybe your airplane was brought down by a mysterious electromagnetic pulse. Or your boat collided with a reef. Or your dragon pulled a muslce and had to make an emergency landing. Or the Love Boat decided you were a hopeless case and marooned you to die.

It doesn't matter, all that matters is you suddenly find yourself on a deserted island, with nothing but sand, sea, and whatever shipwreck/planewreck/dragonwreck washed up with you. What do you do?

1. Build a signal fire.

7. Get the sand out of your-- Look there's sand everywhere, okay?
8. Get your supplies back from the monkey that stole it.

[ Good question. It just takes him a second to think before he bends down and laces his fingers together to make a stepping support with his hands. ]

Here. Just-- I'll push you up with my hands and then you can step onto my shoulders. Use the tree so you don't fall.

[That... looks like it could work. Very carefully, Neku supports himself against the tree as he steps on to Roxas's shoulders. Lucky for Roxas, Neku doesn't exactly weight very much.]

[ Roxas is very lucky that Neku is as scrawny as he looks, doing his best to be steady so that the other doesn't fall off. He's never really done this for anybody else before so the weight is still a little unexpected but he is stronger than he looks. There's a tiny bit of strain though. ]

Can you reach?

Yeah, hang on.

[Neku manage to grab a couple branches (but since they're palm tree, it's mostly leaves), dropping them on the ground next to them.]

[ Roxas sees the "branches" falling from the corner of his eyes, wondering if the leaves would actually work but knowing that it couldn't hurt to try it. Still... ]

Those... aren't really branches, are they.

...Not really. But that's all there is up here.

[ Definitely screwed. ]

Ah, well. We could use them for the fire, right?

[ That's something at least. ]

Maybe we could try finding some rocks...

Yeah, that could work. And rocks should be easier to find...

[He manages to pull a few more off before getting down, looking at the... honestly kind of pathetic pile.]

[ Neither have clearly never been a boy scout.

Roxas scratches the back of his head, a little relieved that he doesn't have to be nervous about having Neku on his shoulders anymore. Even more so that the other didn't fall off... ]

They have to be a specific kind of rock, right? Or do you think any kind will work.

I... don't know. Let's just try things and see what happens.

[dualstance]

Right.

[ Taking a look around, he sees all different kinds of rocks laying about and picks up a couple, some of them the same and others completely different. Times like these he kind of wishes he had control over an element that could actually help them. Like fire.

Maybe he should just try practicing his magic skills more so that he's better at them.

Getting two particularly big stones, he squats down towards the pile of leaves and rubs the rocks together. That's... how you do it, right? ]

[Neku takes another pair of rocks and strikes them quickly against each other. Yea, being able to use his pins outside of combat would be really--

...I think I have an idea.

[ Roxas had been about to try it along with Neku but the other's next words have him looking up, curious look on his face. ]

What is it?

[ Cause anything is probably better than doing it this way. ]

Well... I should still have my pins. I could make a fire with one of those. Problem is, it doesn't work outside of combat.

[dualstance]

So, you have to fight in order for them to work?

[ That sounds a little weird if you ask him but also makes sense in a way. Kind of like a safety hazard thing. Or something. ]

Does it have to be a specific target?

[needsmorezippers]

I don't know. Usually it's Noise, but it's worth a try, right?

Ah, well. Guess it can't hurt.

[ There aren't any better ideas and though he didn't want to hurt Neku, if the other's able to fight against him, well then.

With a flash of light, the Keyblade appears in Roxas' hand and he takes a ready stance. ]

[Neku pulls out his pins, ready to go. It seemed like they'd work, but only one way to find out.

He focused on 'attacking' Roxas, summoning up his fire pin and aiming towards the blonde. It ran across their patch of leaves, which caught fire... but it wasn't exactly doing well.]

[ Considering this is the first time he's seen Neku use his abilities, it should be expected that Roxas is surprised at what happens. How it works is probably even more mind boggling than trying to understand magic itself so he won't bother to ask now. Just the fact that it seems to work is enough for him. ]

Whoa..

[ Watching the leaves catch fire but then start to quickly die down, confusion colors his face. ]

Wait, that wasn't enough?

Ugh...

[Neku frowns at the pile, tugging on his hair.]

I think our 'branches' just sucks.

[dualstance]

[ And watching the last bit of fire fizzle out, Roxas can't help but agree. ]

Yeah, no kidding.

[ There's no way they could get a fire going like this, not unless they wanted to burn the whole patch of trees down. ]

So what now?

Give me a minute.

[meaning... he has no goddamn clue. Looking around for anything useful now.]

[ Letting out a soft sigh, Roxas wracks his brains for something that could possibly help. With Sora's memories of the island, one would think that'd be enough to spark something but nothing's really coming to mind since they actually had boats to cross the water and knew how far it was to the mainland. But there might be something... ]

Maybe we should find things to eat while we try to figure out what to do. Who knows how long we'll be stuck here.

Yea...

[But what is there to eat? Neku looks around at the trees, and spots a banana tree in the distance.]

Let's try over there.

[dualstance]

[ Looking in the direction the other pointed towards, Roxas nods in agreement. ]

Alright.

[ As they walk to the tree, he tries to jog more memories of his Other, knowing that they would help a lot more than his meager knowledge about an island. ]

Do you think we could catch some fish too? I mean, we don't have any poles but we could try. And find better branches for a fire.
