Blind Date meme

The Blind Date meme. Pretty self-explanatory. No matter how awkward and unexpected they might be, there is always something exciting about them. Who is your company for the evening going to be? Will it be a person of your innermost dreams or someone you absolutely can't stand? And most importantly...

How are you going to handle it?

What do:
1. Post with your character! They're now in the middle of a blind date.
2. Comment to each other! When you do that...
3. Go to Random.org and roll a single die!
1.
First date
-- You've never been out on a date before, so someone's decided to give you a helping hand.
2.
On the rebound
-- You're recovering from a painful breakup, but your friends/family think they found a great person for you anyway.
3.
Not strangers at all
-- Someone thought you didn't know your date. Turns out you know them from somewhere.
4.
Hideously awkward
-- Hey wait, that's your ex/boss/doctor/distant family member! Or, even worse, it's that person you absolutely despise. This will go well!
5.
Existing partner
-- You two are just acting like strangers to spice up your love life.
6.
Future spouse
-- Unfortunately, you have to have an arranged marriage. Fortunately, you get to meet that special someone for a date beforehand. How will the night go?
7. ...or, instead of rolling, come up with your own scenario!
4. Play out the date. This meme can be completely fluffy, smutty, or hilarious. If you don't want smut, you can put that in your subject. It doesn't even have to be romantic.

[Maki hated this. She hated this so much. She was in a flattering, blue summer dress, reaching mid-thigh, a floral hair accessory pulling back some of her bangs. She was self-conscious, awkward, and wanting to run back to her room and study or something.

But no. Her friend Honoka, exuberant and insistent as she was, somehow convinced her to go on this blind date. And Maki was not in the mood to see her pouting face if she'd ditched. Plus, it'd be rude- it wasn't her prospective date's fault that Honoka set this all up for some reason.

She looked around the restaurant for the described person - a girl with brown hair and a green ribbon, wearing--

Her eyes widened in recognition. Maki didn't have a lot of friends, but she did remember names. Kotori Minami, daughter of one of her father's important partners.

She smoothed out her dress, trying to put on her best face. She had to make a good impression, date or not. She approached, stumbling a little, and cleared her throat.]
Um... Minami-san?

[It's kind of hard not to jump to attention when Maki approaches, and she still ends up standing and bowing politely. They've only met at semi-formal settings, after all, so it's almost an ingrained response. She will absolutely throttle Honoka the next time she sees her; this feels more like a business meeting than a date.]

Nishikano-san! Ah, I didn't...realize you were friends with Honoka-chan.

[Honoka sort of forced her way into Maki's ligh, not that Maki's complaining. They're good friends, after all. She bows as well, giving a slight, polite smile.]

Please, call me Maki. [....this is a. Date. After all. Not that Maki's about to say that out loud out of embarrassment.]

It's good to see you again. [She sits down, hands folded neatly in her lap.] Last I saw you, it was during my father's new year party, wasn't it?

[Oh, darn it, isn't she supposed to be the cool, older girl in this situation? (It's only by a year, but that's still older!) But her cheeks are pink as she nods.]

Maki-chan, then. Please call me Kotori as well. [She sits down, nodding in agreement to what the other girl just said.] It was! I don't usually enjoy the dress up parties, but everyone really went all out this year. It felt so glamarous! [And she'd also kind of maybe checked out Miss Nishikino in her white party dress. The other girl was just so elegant, like a high born lady or a princess. It made her hard to approach, so she'd just watched her all evening, like some sort of creep.]

It was crowded. [Maki had just wanted to crawl into her music room and play some songs, fine-tune some sheet music. But alas, she just played wallflower all night.]

I, um. Heard you design clothing?

It was crowded. [Note to self, Maki didn't like crowded placed.] The venue was nice, but I guess they had to pick something a bit smaller to keep it within budget.

[At the mention of her design, she blushed, tugging on a strand of hair nervously.] I do, actually! I made my mom's dress for that event. [It had been a stunning crimson number, with an asymmetrical hem and gold detailing on the neck.] It's what I'm going to school for. I love sewing.

[Maki is visibly impressed, though she definitely doesn't want that pointed out. Another creative mind- and so talented, too! She remembers that dress- it looked like the work of a famous designer.]

That's incredible, Kotori. I didn't know your family was involved in the fashion industry.

[The compliments make Kotori blush, ducking her head to try and hide it.] Ah, we...we aren't, really. I was self taught for about five years before my mom found me a suitable instructor. I've been making connections through her since then.
museician: (oneesama laugh)

[personal profile] museician 2015-06-01 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? Self-taught? [That really IS impressive, though. Maki herself is skilled in music, though she had an instructor for most of her life to teach her the basics, intermediate, and advanced techniques.]

Did you make what you're wearing now?

[personal profile] littlechirp 2015-07-02 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, just the skirt. I don't have time to make everything in my wardrobe, unfortunately. [she laughs, smoothing her hands over the material self-consciously.] But enough about me! I've heard you're quite impressive yourself.
museician: (b-baka)

[personal profile] museician 2015-07-03 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what you mean by that. [She looks away, flustered.] I don't do anything nearly as interesting.

[she giggles at the way maki so obviously tries to deflect.] Is that so? Does that mean you aren't an accomplished musician?
museician: (t-tsun...)

[personal profile] museician 2015-07-15 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
W-well, it depends on your definition of accomplished, I suppose. [She STEADFASTLY looks away.]
