The 'We're Stranded' Meme
You’re stranded it’s as simple as that. Maybe you were on your way to a nice relaxing holiday, a business trip or maybe you were just on your way home. Whatever the case, it doesn’t look like you’re going to be reaching your destination any time soon. You’re stuck and all you can do is to try and survive until help arrives. If help ever does arrive. Well, at least you’re not alone. No, there’s someone here stranded with you. Maybe you know them, maybe they’re a complete stranger or maybe they were stranded here long before you. Whoever they are you’re going to have to work together to get out of this mess.
What you do to survive and what happens to you is up to you. Do you search for food, do you try and find any signs of human life, do you have a run in with the locals or the local wildlife or do you just close your eyes and hope someone finds you. Whatever happens good luck.
RULES
- Comment with your character, canon, preferences and any ideas you might have
- It might be useful to note whether you want the interaction to be between two strangers or if you’re okay with any assumed cr
- Feel free to set up your own scenario in your initial comment to give taggers something to work with or just leave your comment blank
- Pick a scenario that catches your eye or use trusty old RNG
- Reply to others!
WHERE ARE YOU STRANDED?
- On an island – You’re stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere. There’s no phone or radio signal and there are no signs of life (that you can see). It could be a huge island with a dense forest in the center or it could be a small, sandy island with sparse vegetation cover. It’s up to you.
- In the jungle – One minute you’re making your way along a jungle trail and the next minute you’re completely lost. You have no idea where you are, you have no idea which way to go and all you can see around you is trees and more trees. Have fun in the jungle. Look out for the wildlife and any local tribes
- In space – The sci-fi option. For some reason you were in space. Maybe you’re inside a ship stranded in the middle of nowhere or stranded in the middle of some kind of asteroid field. Or maybe you were outside of your space shuttle and now you’re stranded with no way to return. Let’s hope your oxygen supply doesn’t run out
- Open Water – Maybe you were simply out for a swim and the current was too strong, pulling you out to sea. Maybe you were diving and after resurfacing you’ve realized you have absolutely no idea which way is land and your boat is nowhere to be seen. Or maybe it’s a Titanic-type situation and your ship has sunk. Better get your life jacket ready.
- High in the air – Maybe you’re trapped in a ski lift high above the ground just like the movie Frozen. Maybe you were on a roller-coaster or a Ferris wheel and the rides malfunctioned. Or maybe you’re just stuck at the top of a really, really high mountain or cliff. Whatever the situation you better not be afraid of heights!
- Inside an elevator - This one is pretty self-explanatory. You were in an elevator, the elevator stopped and now you’re stranded inside the small space, probably with a bunch of people you don’t know until help arrives.
- A cave – Maybe you had planned to explore the cave system or maybe it was a spontaneous event but you went inside and now you’re stranded with no way out.
- The middle of nowhere – This can cover any landscape really: a mountainous area, a desert, the middle of the countryside, a tundra area. Whatever the landscape there’s no signs of human life anywhere. You’re stranded.
- Wild Card! – Don’t like any of the options given? Come up with your own scenario!
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
- Extreme weather! - You're caught in a blizzard or a thunderstorm.
- Searching for food/supplies!
- Setting up a camp/shelter from the rain
- Coming into contact with (possibly dangerous) locals/local wildlife
- Calling for help
- Trying to find a place with better signal
- Just generally freaking out
- Trying to come up with a plan
- An obligatory smut option
- Wild Card! – There are so many options and so many things you could do in this situation. Use your imagination!

[He gazes up into the clouds above. He could try to drive off the clouds and get a glimpse of the sky, but without Mjolnir there is no guarantee it would work. It might just make it rain, which would make this little trek even worse.]
You mentioned an Infinity Stone earlier?
no subject
[ Peter pauses to regard Thor again, a touch wary. ] What do you know about 'em? The Infinity Stones, I mean.
no subject
[Thor looks worried. The Tesseract and the Aether should be safely locked away, which would mean a third stone has been found. That is not good. Not good at all.]
I'm glad to hear that the stone is with the Nova Corps. They should be able to keep it safe.
Who was it that used the stone?
[It's obvious from his tone that he's assuming this person is dead.]
no subject
Me.
And my friends. Took four of us to channel its power, but we managed to, y'know, not blow up and die.
[ He clears his throat. ] Still. Never doin' that again.

[Thor's shocked exclamation is followed by some intense scrutiny of his companion.]
Forgive me. It is only that I would not have expected a man of Earth to survive such a thing. It seems I have underestimated you, Star Lord. You and your friends must be quite formidable.
[Perhaps he should not be so surprised, after all Jane survived. But from what he was told, the Aether works in different ways from the other stones.]
no subject
Well, I guess the power of friendship saved us, or whatever. That, and apparently I'm only half man-of-Earth, on my mom's side. Dad's a big ol' question mark.
no subject
[Thor is lost in thought for a minute.]
I wonder if that has some bearing on our current situation? I have been in close proximity to two of the Infinity Stones in the last few years, and you have used one. Perhaps there is a connection.
no subject
Wait, did you say two? Two? Seriously?
no subject
After we stopped the Chitauri, the Tesseract was returned to the vault in Asgard.
no subject
But what about the second one?
no subject
[There's an implied "and you shouldn't either" in there, but Thor doesn't sound angry, just quietly resigned. He continues on to the rest of his tale.]
The other one is called the Aether. We believed it was destroyed long ago, but it too was uncovered recently. The Dark Elves attempted to use the Aether to cover all the realms in darkness, but they were defeated. The Aether has also been stored in a safe place.
no subject
Two stones on Asgard? That seems kinda dangerous. I mean, granted a guy would have to be suicidal or crazy to try'n' storm Asgard, but still -- if you've got two Infinity Stones there, you guys're probably makin' it awful tempting.
no subject
What you say is very true, which is why the Aether was taken to a different location.
no subject
Good.
[ He purses his lips, hands stuffed into his pockets. ]
Three Stones showing up in such little time is awful concerning, considering they've been lost for so long, now. You think they might'a' brought us here 'cause of what we know?
no subject
[The river seems to be flowing into a canyon with bluffs on both sides. Thor points to a path heading up the hills to one side.]
If we climb up there we should be able to get a better view of our surroundings.
no subject
Oh, great. Climbing. Why can't they just make this easy and attack us?
no subject
It is indeed very inconsiderate of them.
Where were you before you woke up here?
no subject
We were recovering a stolen supply shipment on some shitty little planet that was, like, 60% snow or rain or whatever. What about you?
no subject
[He pauses to look around (and to let Peter catch up). Nothing to see yet, and he finds himself wishing yet again for Mjolnir.
He raises one hand in front of him, just in case, but nothing happens.]
no subject
[ Peter quirks an eyebrow at him as he catches up. ]
You-- waving at someone or something?
no subject
[And then he realizes that "I'm waiting for my magic hammer to fly across the galaxy to me" is going to sound ridiculous, and it's probably not worth getting into.]
Just wishing I had my weapon.
no subject
You and me both. They left me my helmet and my jets, at least. Not sure why.
Bright side: if they wanted to kill us, they probably wouldn't tried by now, right?
no subject
[Just about then Thor finally gets to the top of the hill. His eyes widen in surprise and he laughs.]
Very inept indeed. I doubt they intended us to find this.
[They've stumbled upon some kind of starship graveyard. There are numerous ships in various states of disassembly and disrepair. If it's a junkyard, there doesn't seem to be anyone minding the place.]
no subject
Damn, but this is still a veritable gold mine. He's not nearly as skilled as Rocket, but he can probably rig something together. ]
What do you think the odds are of us managing to get one of these heaps'a' metal working?
no subject
I think those odds depend on how skilled you are with mechanical constructs. That is not my area of expertise, unfortunately, but I will help in any way I can.
[He starts following the path down to the ships.]
