[Tom stands there staring for what is probably too long for comfort, but social interaction can be odd for a guy who lived in a van for twenty years. Finally he nods to himself, having made up his mind that if the button the woman is wearing wants him to ask about her injury then that's obviously what he should do even if asking seems like it'd be rude]

Right then. So 'ow did ya lose yer eye?

That is what happens if you anger the right diety long enough.

It's hard to refute that when I have Danu ripping my eye out of my head.

To put yourself above the gods is an insult to them, human or not.

Don't know a Danu, but I've met plenty who went around callin' themselves somethin they ain't. They don't care much 'bout who they insult. Fact, think they like the insult bit.

Then they are fools; no one is superior to the other, the results are always the same. Everyone must meet an end eventually.

[ Which is... a little strange to come from her. She hates humans, she says, but after watching a civil war unfold between her kind and humans, are they really that different? ]

Someone in my position does not fight.

[ But she doesn't hesitate to, if she needs to. She's a strong woman, that much is clear; she can hold her own, she's had to learn that the hard way. After all Myrddin has taught her, telling her not to fight, she tries to avoid it. ]

I've seen plenty of it between my kind and humans to know what it turns out to be. Pride insisting that they keep fighting, fighting over bits of land and coins, accusing the other of malice and cruelty. No one is without sin and they'll kill each other off eventually. There is no point in contributing in any of that anymore.

[He nods along, wondering if she's someone famous when she says that magical word. Humans. There is the implication that she is not human and that makes him want to smile widely, but he restrains himself, barely, only to lean closer and lower his voice]

Regina can't pick up on an aura around him -- whatever he is, she's not accustomed to it. Nor his scent. Everyone has a particular scent, she feels, one that makes them memorable and less likely to sneak up on her.

But she is considered to be a very weak nephilim, she cannot hone in on that like others. ]

Oh. Jus' I thought...I mean you said humans like, you know, you might not be...but maybe you are an' jus' meant something different.

[His face has fallen because he's met so very few werewolves in his short life]

I am a nephilim and you are certainly not a nephilim.

[ He doesn't have the pale hair or the height. Nephilim can hone in on another fairly easily. But that look doesn't phase her; she's notoriously cruel, she will work against others for her expense. There's no room to be compassionate. ]
