[She's hardly troubled by the way he looks her over, raising her hands in an unbothered little 'stop right there' gesture instead.] I don't see why I shouldn't take your word over that of your sticker.

[A barking husky laugh. That was good, a good joke, and it takes the edge off his irritation about being forced to show off a 'weakness', almost as much as the way she takes his (really kinda flimsy) excuse.] Generous. Thanks.

What do--oh. Bounty hunting. Mostly live tags, I haven't brought in a stiff since the war. At least, from my end, what my employer does after is none of my business.

I take it you don't wanna talk about your little message, either. What do you do?

Bounty hunting. [She sounded-- not quite impressed, more like a mix of pleasant mild surprise and amusement, almost moreso when he admitted to doing
'mostly live tags'.] Sounds like I have another rival.

[She took a step forward, actually offered a hand, smoothly.] I'm a bounty hunter, myself. Name's Fracture. And I'm not really bothered by discussing my modwork, if you're actually interested. You look like you have some very nice upgrades yourself, a good eye for toys. [If not for paint schemes.]

A rival? Really? [More intrigued than threatened.] I don't meet a whole lot of people in my line of work. I tried to get an Autobot into it with me, but he didn't bite, I guess he didn't like me as much as I hoped.

Sure, I'm interested. Always like figuring out new things, new tricks. [He took her hand, carefully, in his non-hook hand.] Actually been meaning to replace this one with something a little more functional. [It just looks so cool.] What've you got?

[It's a fair enough reaction; she wasn't particularly making a threat. After all, she'd have been happy to make some sort of arrangement with Drift, if he hadn't been a complete prick.]

It isn't very common. I know three other bounty hunters, they all work as a team and their leader is a hypocritical, sanctimonious pain in the gearshaft. Impossible to work with. You're lucky, meeting an Autobot worth asking along.

For starters, this, [waving a hand backward to indicate what's strapped to her back] fits neatly as part of my vehicle mode. A non-vital part, of course. [Just in case.] I have arm blades, retractable, [she shows one off, it sliding out of her wrist, and then back in a couple seconds later, smooth] external and internal mounts, protected, for my own partners, not to mention modifications that were more personal and less for my work...

Don't meet em often, it's true. It doesn't matter how many times I tell them I ain't a con--[An aside]--No offense. Turns out if you take jobs from Decepticons, you're a Decepticon, but if you take jobs from Autobots and Decepticons, you're... still a Decepticon.

[But it's whatever. He's only mildly put out by the hypocrisy, he's had plenty of time to come to grips with it. He's much more interested in her modifications.]

Niiiice. This looks like it's been a long work in progress for you. Where are your partners? Are they as modded up as you? They'd have to be kinda small, to fit in you internally. Smallest bot I ever saw was... [A hand gesture roughly equating the ground to Bumblebee's horns] And I don't see that working out with me. But ... You're pretty small for a Decepticon yourself.

Did it bring you inner peace? [Smarmy little shit. His badge isn't exactly flattering - ask me about my brainwashing, but he's ignoring it because he's able to evade, at least for now, what the implications are. Brainwashing himself? Brainwashing other people? Hippie love of nature? Nah.]

Or did it leave you groping for the next rush?

[Fracture gave a little chuckling laugh.] None taken. My condolences, Lockdown. Autobots do like to insist that anyone who does things they don't like is a Decepticon. [Hence prisoners being given Decepticon symbols by force along with their tracking devices. Handy!]

A long and always potentially ongoing work in progress. [Cheerful about that, and interested in Lockdown's questions, the POV he offers.] A bit, though not terribly so. My partners are minicons. Here--

[She steps back, and -- the missiles attached from her shoulders detach suddenly, shoot into the air in a little arc that lands them on the ground not far in front of her, certainly not in danger of hitting Lockdown. They transform before they hit, landing on their feet (in Divebomb's case, her feet and hands) and grinning up at Lockdown.]

Meet Divebomb and Airazor. And I can guarantee they take pride in what's on their stickers. [Which happened to be "ask me about my reckless fighting behavior" and "ask me about my ill-fitting name," respectively.]

[Oh, well, that's interesting. Yes, yes, it's a smarmy and judgemental little Autobot, which is par for the course, but... he's talking as if he disapproves of modwork in general, which is certainly alien to Fracture.]

Sounds like you don't approve of modifications. [Brainwashing, though, she notices that; maybe that has something to do with it.] Do you think they're inherently addictive?

[Prowl frowns, sinking down into a less alert state (though usually he's the one attacking when it comes to Decepticons making polite conversation)] There aren't many shortcuts when it comes to personal happiness. I knew someone who gave up essentially everything for them.

But ... I shouldn't ask that way immediately, just because of him. [And himself.] And--a personal experience. If you say they're not, you'd know best for yourself.

Sounds to me like it wasn't the modwork itself that was the problem. [Even if this bot was entirely unbiased in his description of this other person. Which he might not be.] You're right about shortcuts, and almost anything can be taken too far if someone's on a path to self-destruct. Admittedly, modwork can be dangerous if you don't find the right doctors...

[Oh, there have been people who have been desperate, or in fact actually addicted, who just went to the wrong person out of desperation or ignorance or necessity and wound up dead. But as for inherently addictive...]

I wouldn't say 'no' to a few more modifications myself, theoretically, but only if I thought of something that would improve my life -- or my work. But I think I'm settled for now. Let me guess... Did you get your hands on a few weapons and it gave you a rush? [It was a knowing, and maybe vaguely teasing question, but there was no actual mocking to it.]

You know doctors who'll do this? Legitimate ones? Autobot High Command banned the sale of over-the-counter modifications, to protect people. Some professionals consider it a gateway into alt changing... very dangerous.

[Obviously that pin he's wearing is right in more ways than one.]

What work? You're a Decepticon, it can't be anything HC would approve of, I suppose it doesn't bother you to flout their directives... [And he doesn't sound angry, if anything he sounds a little wistful. Whether it's at Decepticon freedom of choice or not being a Decepticon, it's hard to say, but he leans back a few inches at the last question with a surprised whirr.] Uh.

[a curvy self-deprecating smirk, after a second, not even trying to defend it.] Well if it's that obvious I--guess there's no hope for me.

Ehh. There's worse groups to be affiliated with. Glad I'm in no danger of being mistaken as a Bot. [A long curvy smirk.] Yeah? I'm glad to see somebody who's got as much enthusiasm about it. It seems like we have a couple things in common.

[He doesn't step away, blinking like a curious zoo tiger at the introductory display, and then looks down at the two, surprised, delighted, and lowering himself to one knee to see them better.] I'll be. I've never seen a protoform that small...

Legitimate ones. Of course, some modifications used to be more under-the-table, but if you had the credits... Which most people didn't, unfortunately. ['Autobot High Command', though, she noticed that, let it pass for the moment. Grinned instead, at the comment about alt changing.] They'd even do alt changing. Of course, that's more legal now.

[Even if they made you jump through hoops to prove you needed it. Not the best system, but for some, better than it was before. The Council liked taking baby-steps forward, to avoid having to take real ones.]

I'm a bounty hunter. [Fracture gestured with one clawed hand toward her chest.] Not what I was assigned, of course, but the Council looks the other way, since I do such good work for them.

[She chuckled.] Relax. That's not uncommon. And it doesn't mean addiction; just means you got over-excited with the power and didn't know how to handle it.
