The Drunk Meme

1. Drinking Games. You're at that special level of drunkenness where previously unimagined things start to sound like a good idea, like another drink. It's cool, I know this great game that will inevitably end with everyone involved being totally wasted. You play until... shit, what were the rules again?

2. Unsolicited Advice. Oh man, you suddenly know the solutions to all of life's mysteries. All it took to figure it all out was half a pint of whiskey! It's time to tell all your friends how to fix the problems with their personal lives, whether they want you to or not.

3. Drunk Texting. Frankly, you can't IMAGINE why anyone wouldn't want to hear about how drunk you are right now. If only you could remember where the vowels are on this tiny keyboard. Drawing inspiration from TFLN is encouraged.

4. Tell them How You Really Feel. You lost some of your less important inhibitions three or four drinks ago, and it's time to tell it how it is! Time to hunt down the person you love, or possibly the person you hate, or even just the person you don't ACTUALLY despise, and bare your heart to them in a way that you'll almost definitely regret tomorrow morning.

5. Karaoke. Shot through the heart, and you're to blame! You give love... a bad... something...

6. Terrible Ideas. This is going to be so awesome, guys. I've got the skateboard, and I'm handcuffed to Steve... is the camera rolling? And who's lighting the fireworks?

7. Flirting. While all that booze may not have enhanced your charm, it certainly did wonders for your ego! Time to find all the hottest dudes and/or chicks in this place and make them swoon before your gin-powered charisma.

8. On the Streets. What better way to follow up a good bar run than by drunkenly wandering the streets in the middle of the night? There may be loud, embarrassing singing. There may be puking in the gutter. You may be completely lost, and not sure why that police officer is speaking Italian.

9. Take Me Home Tonight. Yeah, it's time to go home but you're not going alone, time to drag someone home for a hook up. Let's just hope you can get your body to agree or don't fall asleep first

10. The Next Day. All that you took with you from last night's adventures was a blur of jumbled, confusing memories, a lampshade with googly eyes drawn on it taped to your head, and a brutal hangover. What exactly happened here? And who's that sleeping next to you?

Don’t use your photographic memory for weird things, either.

[The teasing unnerves him, just like the smirk, and the warm proximity, but not in an unpleasant way.. what’s worse is how easily Lavi can say what he said just a moment ago. All of it looks easy to him, even as it’s huge steps alone for Kanda to open himself up.

You're a lot more to me than that, Yu.

What can he say to that? What is he to him? Before he might have ignored the sentiment, detached himself from the idea itself, but in the past several weeks he’s learned that taking people for granted.. it’s painful. It’s a suffocating feeling when it backfires and that person suffers.

He doesn’t fly off the handle like he usually does when Lavi calls him Yu, either -- he’s been doing that a lot less lately for obvious reasons. Kanda’s purses his lips before looking up decidedly, his expression akin to pouting; it stems from heavy thought more than anything else.

Kanda knows of Lavi’s past, his near death experience, and there is no doubt that the bookman has heard what happened when the Third Exorcists lost their sense of humanity, the whole thing preceding and following that moment Lavi experienced .. so he knows everything, seen all the skeletons in his closet - everything involving Alma Karma.

Kanda doesn’t say anything following that recollection, just leans in to press his face into Lavi’s scarf, arms drawing hesitantly around the other’s middle.

He can’t say why for sure exactly, but he wants to be closer. They’ll have to return to the Order eventually, and they take separate halls to their rooms, but even then Kanda wants him there.

What can he say to get the point across?]

You're always obnoxious when you get in late after drinking.. Bookman will catch you if you return to your room tonight.

[The alcohol has done a stellar job of making him an honest man.]

No promises. [ If only Kanda could somehow take a glimpse into Lavi's mind, and then perhaps he would feel just a bit more at ease to know that the bookman is not as comfortable as he appears. After pretending for such a large chunk of his life, putting on an act is so simple, so natural. Of course he can smile gleefully and speak easily when his body actually just wants to tremble. While his happiness right now is authentic, he is scared.

Accepting that he genuinely cares for people has been no easy feat, and there had been a good amount of denial for a time. But now he has come to terms with the fact that he adores the people around him. For a select few, if anything negative were to specifically happen to them, it would shatter him completely. To create something more intimate than friendship…how would he react if something happened to Kanda? Does it sound selfish of him to think that? On one side, perhaps. On the other, he knows the implications of their job. Why wouldn't he worry?

Following the light embrace, Lavi raises his arms to wrap himself around Kanda's back. With the tilt of his face, he rests his cheek on the top of the other's head. The statement is completely clear, and hearing it brings him to a wholehearted smile. Truth be told, his mind was lingering along the same thoughts. ]

Yeah, he'd probably yell at me. Guess I'm just gonna have to sleep outside, huh?

[Is he seriously going to make him say it? After he went through the trouble of avoiding outright telling him there is an open offer to stay in his room tonight, even. Kanda gives a shake of his head, then reaches to retrieve one of Lavi’s hands.

Dammit.. he shouldn’t have to spell it out for Lavi, that he doesn’t want the night to end without having the other’s presence there. He probably says it to get a rise out of him, to stir him up inside. Of course it works. Kanda pulls away and turns in response, giving the bookman’s hand a hard tug to drag him forward and further into the maze.]

Stupid-- like you’d even sleep outside.

[He has his uncertainties, he has countless reasons to back up the idea that getting closer to another person, much less an exorcist and bookman, is a completely ludicrous idea, but he’s ignoring them right now in favor of how he feels right now, in the moment. Everything up until now was suspended on the past and what he didn’t know -- at least absorbed in the now and what he doesn’t know of the immediate future.]

If there isn’t anywhere else.. you can stay in my room tonight.

[ The most obnoxious grin spreads from ear to ear. Oh yes, he is going to make Kanda say it. The atmosphere needs some lightening, and he left himself wide open for Lavi to make such a comment. Teasing aside, it would just actually be nice to hear the offer aloud.

When his hand is taken, Lavi loops his fingers around Kanda's, and he allows himself to be pulled along without any complaints. He knows the moment is coming, but still, when the other is finally (somewhat) outright with what he's actually trying to say, the whiteness of his face tints into a dark shade of pink. His heels quickly dig into the dirt to stop them with a sudden a jolt. ]

Let's take the short cut. [ His free hand had been hovering over his holster as he had been dragged so that he could be prepared to whip out his Innoence the very moment Kanda inevitably offered up his room.

Actually getting back to the order had a few setbacks. There was one instance where they almost hit a tree, another where they were close to smacking into a cliff. Throughout the entirety of this experience, Lavi kept a sheepish a grin, and constantly reassured that he knew exactly what he was doing.

And hey, he did eventually get them back to the order without a scratch.

Okay. Without more than five scratches.

Once they were in, through the gates and all, Lavi took a slight step behind Kanda to allow him to lead the way. ]

The short cut? What short cut?

[Ignorance is bliss, really. He didn’t expect the use of Lavi’s Innocence as their mode of transportation back to the Order. Sure, the bookman uses it for that reason on a regular basis and it makes sense considering they’re still drunk and it’s late, but it’s never with Kanda in tow. There is some protest from his side when the idea is even suggested, but it’s too late for him to argue about a different route home because they’re already on their way there in what feels like a few minutes flat.

He will never get used to the sensation of standing on the small space the hammer’s handle offers while being lead to their destination. He wonders how Lavi can do this more than once or twice, but then he reminds himself that it’s Lavi. There are so many questionable things concerning Lavi that he doesn’t even try.

Once they hit land, Kanda stumbles off the Innocence with unsteady feet and finds the nearest wall to support himself against. He’s fuming inside, body shaken from the short trip. The second he feels competent enough to walk, he’s stomping up to Lavi and giving him a tempered shove to the chest, looking as if he might explode with anger. His seething quiets down after that, once the push is out of his system, and he whips around to head to his room, leaving Lavi to follow.

One of the things that had calmed him (aside from a little physical violence)? Remembering the hint of color rising in Lavi’s face when he made the offer. To think the bookman could make a face like that over being given permission to spend the night in his room.

Soon they reach the hall that turns off to his room. Out of instinct, Kanda glances around to see if anyone is watching the two of them sneak back in to his room (of all places), but doesn’t notice anyone in the vicinity, so he lets the door creak openly quietly, leaving it open just enough that Lavi can slide in while he goes to turn one of the lamps on.]

If you do that again, I won’t hesitate to hit you.

[It’s obvious Kanda can’t stand riding the Innocence, for fear of falling off it. Lavi had been there to cling to, but he remembers what happened the last time the two of them tried saving Allen from a long fall down.]

[ The anger and the rough push is well deserved. Lavi gave him absolutely no time to object, and that was not the smoothest of rides. He rubs the back of his neck, close to stating that it wasn't that bad. Ultimately, he makes the intelligent decision to keep his mouth closed. Pushing Kanda any further might result in his invitation being revoked.

Careful not to create any loud noises, he quietly follows closely behind the other, his footsteps light on the floor. As careless as he may tend to act, even he cannot keep himself from occasionally glancing around or keenly listening for any other noises that aren't coming from them. No to little suspicion would fall on them if they were to bump into someone. Their departure was no secret, and there is nothing absurd about coming back so late. Still, it would be much safer to have no witnesses.

When they reach Kanda's room, Lavi steps in and takes a curious look around. Clean and simple. No surprises there. ]

Mah, mah, I wont do that again. Don't worry so much! [ While he never plans on drinking heavily and attempting to use his Innocence right afterwards for transportation again, he can't exactly promise that the next time (if Kanda ever agrees again) will be smooth sailing. He'll leave that additional thought out. ]

[ After giving his hand a dismissive wave for good measure, he allows himself to take a few more steps forward in Kanda's direction. ]

Do what again? Nearly kill me?

[Kanda gives a roll of his eyes, knowing full well that Lavi would likely endanger him in the future if given the opportunity to force him back onto the Innocence if needed. There is no guaranteed safety involved when using the hammer as a makeshift vehicle, and next time (if given the chance), he’ll definitely fight him tooth and nail.

He goes about his usual routine as if the other isn’t present in the room for the time being: turning on the other lamp in the corner, slipping his coat and boots off so he can set them aside, sliding the hairpin (in place of his usual hair band) out so he can set it carefully on the small nightstand adjacent to his bed.. It’s only when he notices how quiet it is that Kanda looks over his shoulder to give him an inquiring look.]

You have something underneath that you can wear to bed? Doubt you can fit into anything of mine.

[It’s probably the truth, considering their slight difference in size. He wonders whether there might be anything to fit him as he sits down on the edge of his bed, fingers combing through the ends of his bangs. Once he notices what he’s doing, Kanda stops with a sheepish look to the side, hand falling to his lap.]

[ As Kanda carries on as if this were any other night, Lavi silently wonders around the small room with piqued curiosity. His interest is not held for very long considering that the other seems to have a limited collection of belongings. So, he ultimately decides to stop his exploration.

He moves over to his former spot near Kanda, raises his arms upwards, and arches his back. A contented noise escapes from his throat while an audible crack from the stretch occurs. The amount of energy he held just a short time ago was abundant, but now he can feel himself quickly becoming weary. After emitting a lazy yawn, he brings his arms back down, and shifts most of his weight onto one leg so he can lean to the side. ]

Yeah, sure. [ His fingers move to tug at his scarf, but he is somewhat distracted by Kanda's movements. Perhaps the word "cute" would not come to mind for most when they see the hotheaded swordsman, but that is exactly how Lavi would describe the other right now. It's a foreign thought, and he even mulls over whether or not that's the correct adjective. But then he sees the embarrassment, and, with a smile, he decides that "cute" is definitely what it is.

Whether Kanda minds Lavi taking a spot next to him or not, he is just going to go ahead and make himself at home. He plops down to the spot adjacent to him, and kicks off his boots before moving to tug off his coat. ]

It smells like dirt now. [ His coat, that is. Most likely from all that making out against a hedge and also sitting on the ground earlier on. Pardon his slight messiness while he just drapes it onto his boots. ]
kanda: (pic#8926128)

[personal profile] kanda 2015-03-24 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
I wonder what that would be from.

[Kanda thinks of Lavi falling back onto the ground earlier before he thinks about what happened at the maze’s hedge, even as the memory is glaringly present in the back of his mind. The coat certainly smells like dirt, even to the point that Kanda gives the items an extended nudge with a foot, trying to get them away from his spotless bed. Even the covers look as if he hadn’t touched the bed in, well, forever (let’s just say he has a habit of napping in the dining hall).

He doesn’t say anything about the bookman taking the spot beside him. He wasn’t going to invite him, but there is little in the way of options for places to rest within the room. Even as tired as he is, even as drowsy as the alcohol makes him feel, he still feels on alert with Lavi sitting right beside him.]

Don’t you... write in your diary or something before bed?

[Kanda’s tone is critical, but that’s only because he wants to continue on with usual routine and brush his hair before bed-- the thought of doing so infront of Lavi bothers him at first - it’s oddly personal to him - but then he remembers he doesn’t exist to let other people’s presence become a hindrance, so he gives a quiet huff and goes to retrieve his brush, sittling back down into his spot once he has it as he sets about get the few tangles out.

He didn’t invite the other to spend the rest of the night with him to just sit around in silence, obviously, but Kanda can’t seem to muster up the courage he had earlier.]

[personal profile] redhairedrabbit 2015-03-24 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
You want me to record what happened tonight? [ He carries a playful tone, and the way his mouth curves exhibits a look of smugness. Clearly, he's only teasing, but he takes another step forward by tapping his index finger against the center of his forehead. ] It's all in here, and I don't plan on forgetting it.

[ While Kanda busies himself with brushing his hair, Lavi moves onto the rest of his accessories. He slides off his gloves and haphazardly tosses them to the side with no consideration towards where they'll end up. There's more care into pulling off his holster and Innocence, and he even momentarily stands to place them on a safe surface. His weapon is strong, and breaking it is not something he worries about. Still, he is responsible enough to not throw it aside. Also, if it winds up on the floor, he could slip on it. His finger tips hover next to his ears as he considers taking off his red hoops, but when he decides to simply leave them be, he moves to pull off his headband. As it slides up and over his head, his hair falls and covers his vision until he runs a hand through it.

Once he's finished, he side glances to peer over at Kanda. He catches a few loose dark strands, and takes it upon himself to lean over and gently brush them behind his ear. His hand lingers. ]

So I'm here to help you build a blanket fort, yeah?
kanda: (pic#6105844)

[personal profile] kanda 2015-03-24 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Kanda gives him a look that says ‘you’re crazy’, even though he knows that he was welcoming it with what he said about the diary. Why would the bookman record tonight of all things in a journal covering history? Stupid. He should’ve known there would be a retort along those lines.

As he works through dark strands with the brush, he tries not to watch the bookman remove his accessories, but he fails in that detail when Lavi reaches his earrings-- and then his headband. Fucking hell, what’s wrong with him? He’s actually watching closely, unconsciously, when the headband is removed. He looks really good that way, minus the familiar piece of cloth that he wears so often. He idly wonders what he would look like without the eye patch too, an accessory he’s sure no one else has seen past. He wants to see for curiosity's sake, but it's something he would never request.

The brush of Lavi’s fingertips along the edge of his ear comes as a bit of a shock, and elicits a small shiver; he tries to play it off like it doesn’t get to him, even as color spreads in his face. He can prepare himself when he knows what’s coming, but not when the touch is unexpected.

Kanda places the brush right back where he retrieved it from, and then turns to Lavi with an incredulous look.]

Blanket fort? Go find Beansprout if you want to do something pointless and childish like that.

[He mulls over what he said, chewing quietly over his lip. What exactly did he want him here for?

Because he likes his company, likes him, Kanda reminds himself.]

[ The brightness that paints itself across Kanda's cheeks cannot be hidden, and Lavi takes the physical response as a personal victory. It was not his intention to get the swordsman to react in such a way. To move as he did was essentially done absentmindedly. Sure, the teasing and not drawing back was something that he decided to do, but it was a decision he made right then and there. ]

You want me to leave already? [ Where to go from here? He briefly considers wrapping his arms around Kanda's waist in some sort of childlike manner all while suggesting a good snuggle. That would surely piss him off. Maybe he'd get punched again.

Although, ever since they broke apart, he has been eagerly awaiting for the moment that he could loop his arms around Kanda again. Just for the simple pleasure of enjoying his close presence would be enough if he didn't want to continue from where they left off. ]

I guess we could do something else, even though I was kinda hoping to make a fort. [ Again there's that playfully sly smile. His free hand reaches out for Kanda's cheek, and his body begins to close the space between them. ]

What do you think?

If you’re that goddamned disappointed about making a fort, then go do it.

[Kanda doesn’t pick up the tone right away, but the second he pays attention to the atmosphere, picks up on the cue of Lavi’s smiling face and the small distance between them, he quiets down. Of course - the bookman's reaching for him.

What’s with him? He wants to tell him how annoying it is that he insists on getting confirmation for every single thing, for stepping around the issue - he knows he has no room to talk, though. He’s the only one truly skirting along the truth of the matter.

Of course Lavi only teases him because he won’t be honest or forthright. He made a mistake in the past, in being too evasive from everyone including the most important of them. He told himself he wouldn’t make the same mistake again, but here he is, close to letting the same mistake happen.

He might as well just give in - he doesn't want it to happen again.

Kanda exhales heavily, strengthens his resolve, and turns to face Lavi in order to see him better, the brush placed back on the nightstand in favor of scooting a little closer and drawing his arms around the bookman’s neck. He links his fingers there and leans in, words spoken close to his ear. He even blows warm, teasing air against the shell for good measure, prompting him to act.]

But if you care what I think, you’ll forget the fort. There's something else we could do, isn't there?

[And rather than wait for Lavi to act after the bit of encouragement, he pulls him close enough that he can kiss him, inclining the slightest towards Lavi's body for support. Knowing the bookman reciprocates this makes it easier for him to relax--to start off from where they left off with a soft nip to his bottom lip, and the warm trace of tongue seeking attention.]

[ The near proximity integrated with the sudden warmth prompts a delighted shudder. He himself was about to completely close the space between them, but Kanda moved more quickly.

He responds to the kiss immediately, but moves his mouth slowly and with tenderness, the hastiness that was present in their last encounter lacking. Now that the drunken adrenaline diminished into lazy sobriety, he holds the patience and the desire to savor each second that passes.

Haunted thoughts of remorse, broken obligations, and negative consequences have faded away. All of his attention is set on Kanda, and even his senses are numb towards his surroundings. Presently, nothing else carries enough significance to pull Lavi away from the concentration he has directed on the other.

After a minute or so of simplicity, he slides his tongue into Kanda's mouth for a french kiss, while the hand that pushed his hair behind his ear moves to snakes around his middle. Sweetness does not necessary equate innocence, right? He wants to hold him more closely, but any more of pull would most likely send him over the edge of the bed. Abruptly, he breaks their kiss. ]

Hold on. [ As in literally do not let go. With the hopes that the other would comply, Lavi momentarily leans his whole body inwards, partially stands, and hooks his free arm under the backsides of Kanda's knees. With a swift heave, he lifts the other into a bridal style like hold, drawing him in close, and then resuming a sitting position. Essentially, he simply moved Kanda's legs from the floor to his lap. ]

Much better! Thanks for being light, Yu!

[personal profile] kanda 2015-03-27 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
[He holds on, in fact, he grips fingers into the fabric at the back of Lavi’s shirt enough that it catches at his throat until he’s placed back down. Kanda mutters something about him being a dimwit, but he’s a dimwit that he happens to find incredibly attractive -- both inside and out -- so he doesn’t cop anymore attitude and takes his new spot on the bed without complaints.

Kanda can come to terms with that, and the sooner he does, the more time he can spend holding him closer than denying the nature of his feelings.]

Think I’m your bride because I let you stay tonight?

[The words are teasing, losing any sharp edge they might usually possess. He draws near enough that he can steal a quick, soft kiss, fingers reaching to thread lightly into strands of the bookman’s hair to give a slight tug. Those same digits travel farther up, touching just along one of the eyepatch’s ties. He is careful not to remove it, but he skims curious fingertips along the fabric regardless.]

I don’t like sharing, either.

[Kanda follows that note with another brief, but affectionate kiss, this one lasting a good second longer than the previous one before it. He knows what his words insinuate, but whether the other will really heed them for their meaning is his choice. He just wants to put it out there.]

[ I don’t like sharing, either

The words cause a deep shade of pink to stain his cheeks, the color developing into a brilliant tint of red after being kissed with such warmth. ]

Good. [ His tone is steady, and a smirk is playing against his mouth, but the color of his face betrays the apparent “coolness” that he is attempting to achieve. The thought of adhering to the spark between them beyond this night causes his heart to flutter like a caged bird. It’s amazing, really. Not too long ago had he claimed that he had no need for emotions. Now he’s embracing them, elated to hold endearment towards another. ]

I hope you know the same goes for me. [ Without the interference of a jacket, Lavi slides a hand underneath Kanda's shirt, fingertips gliding over his waist and towards the base of his spine. ]

Maybe I'll like you enough to tell you all my secrets since you seem so curious about one of them. [ He's teasing, but there is a hint of sincerity there. ]

We'll see. [ Tilting his head, he plants a light peck against Kanda's cheek before moving to his mouth for a deep kiss. ]

[So he can make faces like that, too. It’s late, but it just now dawns that the feeling of walking on egg shells (though more so applicable to Lavi considering who it is) and proceeding with heavy tension isn’t exclusive to just himself -- the bookman puts up his barriers too, just not as prominently as his own surface.

When he hears the answer, he’s having the same reaction-- the stretch of skin Lavi traces with his fingers is enough to make him shiver, and Kanda can’t help resting back into the palm for more of the intimacy. His stomach turns with the warmth of excitement when he’s kissed, lips pressing open against Lavi’s so he can explore the heat of his mouth with soft, teasing brushes of his tongue.

Kissing him is the warmest thing he’s experienced by far; some things come close, but Kanda can’t quite recall the source of that deja vu. It feels like a lifetime ago. Right now, Lavi is the one eliciting a reaction from him, the slight shift of his legs in the other’s lap as he draws them back against his own body. He’s no coward, but he feels oddly insecure and open, unguarded, when he wants like this.

“You seem to like me enough", “I don’t like secrets, is all”, they’re things he would say if he wasn’t so occupied with holding Lavi as close as he can can get him, hands busy in their concentrated path as he feels over the slope of his stomach, and then beneath the thin fabric of the bookman’s shirt when he unconsciously bunches it up past his navel .]

[ The lack of a verbal response and the dominating presence of a physical one prompts Lavi to stop the flirtatious banter and preoccupy himself with curiously mapping out the contours of Kanda’s body in a way that he is sure the other would find pleasurable. The tips of his fingers travel from his lower back to where his shoulder blades slightly protrude. With a light press, he draws his hand back downwards, nails grazing against the surface of his skin.

He tries his best to contain a noise of satisfaction when he feels a press of warmth against his stomach, but a breathy sigh manages to slip out in between a kiss. This elicits a sheepish chuckle before he brings their mouths back together. The contact generates the temptation to tug off his shirt altogether since it's already halfway up his torso at this point. Kanda is certainly showing no shyness on his side. Although, despite the bold advances, Lavi senses that he's somewhat tense. Having an arm encircling Kanda, he can feel that the other is shifting, and he can't quite tell if it's due to being uncomfortable or something else.

Instead of choosing to jump ahead, he presses a hand against Kanda's chest, pushing enough just to break them apart by a few inches. ]
You okay?

[Kanda doesn’t feel compelled to tell him the truth, that he has very little experience. If it’s one thing Lavi rivals him in comparison, it’s the number of partners he’s had. There was one other person, but it’s little in the way of knowing anything at all, and it's been years even considering the sentiment. He is likely only being so forward because Lavi’s own affection and openness to touch him is influencing him. The bookman makes him feel confident, of sorts.

The bridge of his nose nudges lightly into Lavi’s as his forehead rests against his, and he takes the opportunity to catch his breath and gather his wits about him. He’s wound up, his heart hammers in his chest and itfeels as if it is caught in his throat all at the same time-- over the sound of the bookman’s laughter, the sensation of nails etching down the line of his back, even the palm pressing considerately into his chest seems to get to him.]

Mm? Fine... just hot.

[He’s right. His face and body are burning up, and his legs propped in Lavi’s lap are definitely tense, so it’s no wonder that Lavi takes a small break from indulging him to inquire about whether he's really at ease. To drive the point home, to assure him that he's okay, Kanda nuzzles his face into the space between the bookman's throat and shoulder.]

[ As far he can tell, Kanda is certainly not lying about being overheated. Although he took no notice of it before, it is clear now that they have a moment to regain themselves. His forehead is warm against his, and the flush of his cheeks and quickened rise and fall of chest are evident. There is something else beyond the abundance of warmth and the amount of energy expelled, something that is not being said. But as nosy as he can be, he decides against prodding. There is no dire need to search for a response that hides below the surface, and there is a good choice that Kanda just wouldn't tell him if he attempted further inquiry.

With Kanda's face snuggled within the crook of his neck, Lavi holds him in a loose embrace. He presses his lips against the side of his head, mumbling when he speaks. ]

C'mon, let's lay down for a minute. It'll help.

[There is a difference from being handled like you're breakable, and in being treated sweetly, but still as someone durable. He doesn't expect it, but he likes this. He leans into the kiss to the side of his temple, listening closely so he can catch the muffled words.]

I don’t share my pillow with just anyone, you know.. you’re lucky.

Kanda reminds Lavi in drowsy words, quite receptive to the idea of lying down. He follows the suggestion and draws away from the bookman so he can draw his legs out of the other’s lap and give a brief stretch, before his face is pressing into the pillow, left arm hugging around it while he reaches with his left hand to tug Lavi down beside him. He only has one pillow, so he’d have to just deal with being this close.

Once he is down beside him, he looks at him properly for the first time tonight (this morning, really), and it’s also the first time in hours that his vision doesn’t bounce when he tries to study something. A lot happened in the past few hours, so it’s difficult for him to come to terms with what kind of face he might wear, or hide, tomorrow. A seemingly bad decision has become something memorable in a short few hours. No doubt sleeping on his actions will bring some embarrassment. He won’t act as if it hadn’t happened later on, though.]

Bookman will know you’re missing in the morning.

[that’s if someone else hadn’t seen them returning to Kanda’s room together and let it be known.]

I might hog it. [ Whether this is merely a joke or a warning, Lavi will not specify. He only grins before leaning into Kanda's pull. He swings his legs onto the bed, slightly repositions himself, and promptly nestles into the area right next to the other.

With little space between them, he finds himself studying Kanda as well. A small smile sits on his mouth as he attempts to remember the specific moment when he began to admire his features. He had always respected his strength and was intrigued by his personality since they had met, but when did the attraction spark? It must have been gradual, subtle, and unknowingly hidden through denial. Interesting how that works. ]

I'll have an excuse! [ He holds enthusiasm in his response, but the worry is there. Bookman will hardly believe it, but he will just sigh in disapproval, tired of reminding Lavi of his place, before dismissing the subject. Or he'll get a lecture, and Lavi will offer reassurance. That's mostly it. He's lucky that Bookman is willing to keep his suspicions to himself, but if someone else, someone he doesn't trust, were to figure out..well, that's where the worry sets in. ]

Maybe I'll hide in here all day.

Hog it and I’m kicking you off the bed.

[Kanda gives him a childish pout and a slight shove away, even though he regrets it a moment later. Why is it he prefers to be closer to him now if he has a choice?

His own attraction to Lavi doesn’t lie solely in the fact that he reminds him of Alma. There is that, but the crux of the matter is that he just shares the same qualities that drew him to the first person, and now to him.

Lavi’s apprenticeship disciplines and encourages keeping to himself and his mentor, and he somehow still reaches out to Yu.

And Kanda, for as much as his incessant bitching and harsh words are worth, has a crush.]

Don’t blame me if I knock you off. I don’t always sleep peacefully.

[He says then, petulantly. daring him to even think about keeping all the covers to himself. Kanda pulls closer now and tucks his head beneath Lavi’s chin. He brought the set of blankets with him, and tucks the sheet and comforter up enough that it’s covering his shoulder.]

What excuse is that, anyways? You won’t find any books in here.

[Save for the horticultural books he had bought on a whim, hidden somewhere in the room -- not that he can understand half of what’s in them.]

[ Threats from the other should usually be taken seriously as Kanda tends to stay true to his word. However, even after the slight shove, Lavi knew that the he was not willing to part from their close proximity. Perhaps he would get kicked off, but his banishment most likely would not last long.

When Kanda decides to settle in closely, he smiles to himself, relieved to be correct in his assumption. He sneaks an arm underneath the pillow and around Kanda’s shoulders. His other hand slides against his waist, fingers finding their way to bare skin and gliding towards his back. With a light tug, he pulls their bodies together for an embrace. ]

Guess I’ll just have to hold onto you real tight, yeah? [ And when he says this, he momentarily tightens his hold before loosening up just a bit. ]

You'll be here, so I'm sure I'll find something to do. [ His tone is hushed, coquettish. ]

[He hums under his breath, an unspoken agreement to the, "yeah?", and turns to press a kiss to Lavi's forearm, giving him a side glance as he bites there softly.]

Pervert -- let's watch you tell the tiny old man that, then. I'm sure he'll be thrilled knowing you're hiding out here when I go take my bath in the next few hours.

[Early morning is really the only time the facilities aren't occupied with other exorcists passing through, and he'll be damned if he misses his chance to use the bath alone, especially after the night's drunken conquests. He happens to remember hitting the ground once or twice over the course of their trip to the fairgrounds.]

You can hide stay here, on the condition that you bring me tea later.

[The words are cheeky, teasing in return for the previous comment.]
