On Your Doorstep

They ended up on your doorstep, quite literally. Bloody, possibly. Bruised, most definitely, though the wounds may be mental. You probably don't know them from Adam, yet you couldn't find it in you to turn them away - whether they wanted you to or not. So you opened up your home, just for a little while.

But it's getting to be more than a little while. Both of you are finding a comfort zone, because you didn't simply open up your home. Admit it or don't, but you've opened up your heart all the same.

Their's is slowly following, if its reluctant at all.

[ He huffs out a small breath, ]

And you think a prison will hold her?

[ The look he gives Sherlock is one of 'don't be so naive'. ]

I don't think a prison would need to for very long.

[There's a reason Mary had been scared of being found out and Sherlock thinks John should realise it.]

And I'm not sure we're thinking about the same sort of prison.

[After all, there are speciality places designed specifically for rogue agents. Interpol would likely call dibs on her instead of any one nation's justice system.]

[ John really doesn't care. The only thing he cares about is getting to her first. ]

A prison is too good for her.

[Sherlock nods his head.]

It is... I'll talk to Mycroft, alright? See if there's something we can negotiate.

[Because if John's considering murdering her himself, then he's only got one choice and that's to kill her before John gets the chance. He can't bear the thought of John going to prison or going on exile like he'd almost done.]

[ John stares at Sherlock for a long time before finally looking away and grunting as he pushed himself back to his feet. He slowly starts to shuffle his way back to the sofa in the living room.

He had never forgiven her for shooting Sherlock. The only reason he hadn't hurt her then was because she had been carrying his child. Now? The gloves would be off if he ever got the chance. ]

[Sherlock just looks at John back, keeping a soft and tender hold on John's daughter. A few minutes after John leaves the room, he digs out his mobile phone and sends a text.]

Alice needs you. Remember that. I can't take care of her on my own.
