On Your Doorstep

On Your Doorstep
They ended up on your doorstep, quite literally. Bloody, possibly. Bruised, most definitely, though the wounds may be mental. You probably don't know them from Adam, yet you couldn't find it in you to turn them away - whether they wanted you to or not. So you opened up your home, just for a little while.
But it's getting to be more than a little while. Both of you are finding a comfort zone, because you didn't simply open up your home. Admit it or don't, but you've opened up your heart all the same.
Their's is slowly following, if its reluctant at all.

[The mission had been a spectacular failure and culminated in Bucky and the experimental aircraft he’d been trying to steal back from HYDRA scientists ending up in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. It just hadn’t been his year. First he’d been outed as the Winter Soldier and put on trial by the American public and justice system only to end with him being shipped back to Russia to a horrible gulag filled with hardened Russian criminals out to kill him.
Actually…that was pretty much par for course for Bucky. He’d always had the shittiest luck. Case in point, him with experimental aircraft and the Atlantic ocean. Admittedly, this time he wasn’t on a ticking bomb headed over the English channel but still, he was so freaking sick of this dance. At least this time he probably wouldn’t wake up decades later sans a limb and with half-remembered memories of being a Russian assassin.
Hopefully.
But then again, knowing his luck who knew how he’d get screwed over this time. He’d been knocked against the restraints hard enough when the plane hit the ocean to give him one hell of a case of whiplash and to pass out briefly. At least the advanced carbon fiber metal that made up the chassis withstood the impact and water didn’t come rushing in. Unfortunately, the aircraft immediately sank like a stone and Bucky discovered all the communications equipment had been disabled by the crash, thus leaving him in a metal coffin sinking to the bottom of the ocean.]
This certainly could have ended better. [Gallows humor had always come easily for him mainly because he’d survived things that would have killed lesser men. Dying in a high tech coffin wasn’t on Bucky’s list of ways to die but unfortunately considering how far down he found himself steadily going even he wouldn’t be able to reach the surface before drowning. Of course, slowly suffocating on carbon monoxide also sounded like a sucky way of going which seemed to be the alternative.
He could only hope Stark or someone else found him before that happened. Otherwise he was going to be forced to do something truly rash and stupid.
Bucky had always been good at doing that.]
