[ if there are anniversaries that should make james unsure, he doesn't remember them. he looked up when his parents died, but there is no emotional meaning to the date, just a number that he forced himself to remember because it seemed like the kind of thing that he should know, not becaues it actually felt in any way meaningful. maybe that's the kind of person he is, now- he has a past, but it holds very little significance to him. it still feels like someone else's, like he's entirely divorced from what he experienced before.

( not entirely, some things hold meaning. )

the curve of tony's shoulders and the very fact that he's at the cemetery speak a different language. tony has issues, james figures as much, but they're not the same ones he has. maybe there are people out there that feel the same, this lack of feeling that james has for his past, but it doesn't matter.

he shrugs, in answer to tony's question, the slightest lift of his right shoulder. the left stays immobile. ] Thought you should know.

(Tony's sort of glad it's late at night. It means that there's no one else in the cemetery save him, and well, James now too. Though his presence could be a lot worse. Now and then he takes a sip from the bottle that was in his pocket, a sip for him, before he pours a small one out on the side of his Father's grave, his mothers has flowers on it, but he knew that Howard had never been one for gestures like that. No, the alcohol was far more appropriate for him.)

Thanks? (What do you say in a case like that. He glanced over his shoulder to the other from where he was sitting between them, and though it's forced for the most part, at least he tried to smile. Better than not trying.)

[ james watches, passively but no less alert for it, as tony pours alcohol over the grave. he doesn't know if there is some tradition he just can't recall, something he's missing, or if that is slightly unusual if perhaps understandable behaviour.

at least tony's question is one he can answer: ] Trailed you.

Trailed me? (Tony couldn't hold back the bark of laughter that came from that response. In some ways, though, it's still a dry laugh, like it's not really funny, but he has to do something.) Should I be flattered?

(There was a small sigh then and he pushed himself up from where he'd been sitting, moving a bit closer to James, though not quite closing the whole gap. He reached out the bottle towards the other, letting it dangle in the air as he waited for him to take it, he assumed that he would, at least.)
