THE RANDOM SCENARIO MEME 3.0

- Post your character, name, and series in the subject. Include any preferences as well.
- Go to RNG and enter 1-7 for a scene type, and 1-20 for a scene to play out.

TYPE OF SCENE.
① Action → Gun fights, bar brawls, fights to the death are all possible scenarios.
② Angst → Characters suffer emotionally or physically from relationships breaking up, death, injury, etc. Hurt and comfort themes are included.
③ Crack → Genderswaps, super powers, sudden compulsions are all possible outcomes.
④ Fluff → Something that is devoid of angst. It's light-hearted and might have the overtone of romance.
⑤ Gen → General fun, things that didn't fit in the other categories.
⑥ Sex → First times, kinks, even dubcon are all possible themes of sex related scenarios.
⑦ Your choice → Think of your own scenario, choose one of the above or make a combo even!

ACTION.
① Zombies → It's the zombie apocalypse, lock and load!
② Bar brawl → You had one too many drinks, said something wrong, and now you're being asked to take it outside.
③ Chase → You're caught in a high speed chase.
④ Gun fight → You're caught in a big shoot-out.
⑤ Fight with a friend → You're fighting with a friend, all out.
⑥ Interrogation → You're being interrogated for some offense you've done.
⑦ Aliens → Aliens are attacking and you're not going to take your probe laying down!
⑧ Final battle → This is it. The battle that will end all the fighting for you. Will you win? Will you get that peace you want?
⑨ Training → You're not actually fighting, just training for the inevitable.
⑩ No hope → You know this fight has no hope. It's not going to end well for anyone involved, but you can't turn away.
⑪ Sneaking in → You're stealing a diamond or sneaking in to kick some bad guy butt, but whatever it is, you have to practice stealth.
⑫ Blue wire → You're faced with a bomb that needs to be disarmed.
⑬ Fight for honor → You've been disgraced or someone you care about has, so it's time to fight for honour.
⑭ Showdown → Time for a cowboy-style showdown. Whoever draws the fastest wins.
⑮ War → You're caught in the middle of a war here. Remember to keep your chin up and keeping fighting.
⑯ Apocalypse → The apocalypse finally happened and now you're left to scavenge and fight for whatever is left.
⑰ Sabotage → It's time to sabotage someone's plan! How is entirely up to you. Do you set up a bomb in their toilet? Do you double cross them at the last minute?
⑱ Big damn hero → You know you have to handle this one alone, so that means disarming or knocking unconscious the person who wants to join you.
⑲ Fight club → You know the rules... you're in an underground fighting ring and you're fighting with all you've got.
⑳ Threaten → You've just been sent here to rough them up a little, threaten them into behaving.

ANGST.
① Injury / illness → Your character has become injured or ill! To what extent is the mun's choice.
② Last moments → You character has been gravely injured and this is their last chance to say their last words.
③ Depression → Your character is depressed, what actions they take is up to the mun.
④ Betrayed → You character has been betrayed by the other. How do they react?
⑤ Tortured → Your character is being tortured and needs rescuing or at least a sympathetic ear to help him through it.
⑥ Jealousy → Your character is feeling jealous and must deal with it, how will they do it?
⑦ Breakup! → This relationship has gone as far as it can, it's time to breakup.
⑧ Broken → For whatever reason, the character is broken, mentally or or physically.
⑨ Fight → You can't even be in the same room as your friend or lover without arguing anymore.
⑩ Lost → You lost the biggest fight of your life and now all you can do is try to pick up the pieces.
⑪ Worst nightmare → Whatever you fear the most is now real or maybe you're just trapped in a dream together, but whatever it is, it feels too real.
⑫ Addicted → You're addicted to something, alcohol, drugs, sex, whatever. It's destroying your life and you can't do anything to stop it.
⑬ Hurt you → You're being forced to hurt someone you love either by betraying them or even being forced to shout things you don't mean. It's for their own good in the end though.
⑭ Separation → You were forced to leave this person for their own safety and while you've been miserable without them, you really didn't mean to run into them again... maybe it was by accident or you were watching them from afar this whole time.
⑮ Becoming a monster → You are slowly changing, becoming a monster: vampire, zombie, demon, something you can't recover from and no-one can help you.
⑯ Frozen → You are entirely helpless, frozen, to stop some kind of disaster.
⑰ Prison → You were very bad and now it's time to pay the price by turning yourself in or maybe the law just finally caught up to you.
⑱ Fear → You're not sure why, but you are suddenly terrified and you can't deal with it. You need help.
⑲ Hated → You are now hated by the person you loved the most.
⑳ Down and out → You're living on the streets, you've hit rock bottom, and you don't know what to do.

CRACK.
① Sexswap → Uh-oh, you're suddenly the opposite sex!
② Forced confessions → No matter what it is and no matter how hard you resist, you're going to be compelled to spill some deep dark secret!
③ Mind-reading → You've suddenly got the ability to read minds!
④ Animal → You're suddenly part animal or transformed into an animal!
⑤ Awkward pick-up lines → You're compelled to use bad pickup lines on whoever is closest!
⑥ Back in School / Graduated → You're suddenly back in school! Or if you were already in it, you've aged and long since graduated!

⑯ Back in time → Somehow, you wound up in the past again. Do you try to correct something or just sit and wait for time to jump? Maybe it jumps to various points in your life or maybe you actually think you're back in the day. Have fun, run wild with the idea!
⑰ To the future → Is it everything you've dreamed? Is it horrible? Whatever happens, you're here to witness what happens to you in the future. Either you take the place of your future self or you're just there to watch. Might cause some confusion if people start seeing double though...

⑥ Drunk → You're already drunk! Drunk dialing, stumbling into someone, showing up unexpected... what type of drunk are you anyway? Aggressive, loving, happy? How does the other react?

⑭ Enabler → you're enabling the other (or each other) to do something bad, really bad. Addiction, stealing, killing, or just any other self-destructive behavior.

Anytime Ms Agnes. You do so much for us, it's a pleasure to be able to support you in return.

[He takes the glass back and sets it aside before glancing at the photos again.]

Do you get to see them much?

[It takes a moment to figure out what Keith's talking about - the photo closest to the couch. In it, Agnes stands next to a woman who looks very much like her, with two children squirming in front. The Agnes in the photo looks more relaxed then Keith's probably ever seen in real life. She's actually laughing.]

Oh...

Not very.

[Getting away is nearly impossible these days. The amount of vacation she's stacked up would probably bankrupt the company if it were cashed in.]

I'm sorry. You must miss them a lot.

[His fingers brush over the photo-Agnes' face and he turns back to the real one with a sad smile. His hand comes up towards her face, hesitating a moment before he reconsiders and squeezes her hand instead.]

You must have sacrificed a lot to make Hero TV as successful as it is. I don't think we've ever really thanked you for that.

[The look he shoots her then would be mischievous on anyone else on him it's equal parts amused and worried.]

So thanks, and thanks again.

[The gesture doesn't register until Keith squeezes her hand instead. There's a peculiar warmth to it. His last statement gets a fond, if exasperated, sort of smile in response.]

Honestly, Sky High. You don't need to have that look on your face. I'm proud of my work. And I'm not doing it for people to thank me. I know I'm the best. HeroTV is the best.

[It isn't bragging. Ratings don't lie.

It IS a dodge though, not answering the 'missing them' part. There's some things you have to trade. She is the best. That's enough. It's plenty. But even if she doesn't ask for it, it's still nice to hear someone say. She looks down at Keith's fingers over hers. The next words start out brusque, a brush-off, but they come out quieter then intended.]

You should save your sympathy.

I know you don't need people's gratitude. A hero doesn't work for praise. But it is nice to be thanked sometimes.

[They all do what they do no matter what people say about them but that doesn't change the fact that it's nice to hear for themselves that they do make a difference. That's why he keeps every single letter Sky High ever receives. But Ms Agnes doesn't really get letters like that so it's up to those that know her to show her that she's appreciated.

That feeling, along with the tone of her reply has him leaning up to wrap his arms around her in a firm hug, adding into her hair-]

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself either! You're allowed to get lonely and to miss the people you care about. And you should make time to spend with them, it's important.

[Agnes doesn't answer, stunned by the sudden weight around her, breath in her hair. It's a familiarity almost no one else could get away with. (Even if they were brave enough - or stupid enough - to try.) She doesn't return the hug. However... she doesn't push Keith away, either. Not immediately. The warmth soaks in, and there's a spicy unfamiliar smell, probably aftershave.

What the hell is going on?

Agnes extracts herself.]

...You said something about dinner?

[What?! No, damn it, he should leave, she really should just make him leave. But the words are already out. She has to distract him with something. It's either food or keep talking about that photo, about missing people. Maybe he'll drop it if she gives him something else to do. (Probably he won't, though why should he care anyway?!)

It's nothing. It's just the way Sky High is, it's nothing.

Food is safer. And it really has been a long time since breakfast.]

[He willingly lets her go as soon as she tries to get away - Keith may be determined (or foolish) enough to hug Agnes but even he knows better than to push it, especially when she's had a long day already. Instead he bounces to his feet, nodding enthusiastically.]

Yes, of course! What would you like?

[However curious he is about Agnes herself and the things she's not saying now that she's letting him see her as something other than just HeroTV's producer, her well-being comes first. He can always ask more later, over dinner say.

It goes without saying he'll be staying until he's certain she doesn't need any more help (so possibly until she's healed) or until he's chased out. So there'll be plenty of time to ask later.]

I'm afraid I'm not the best cook but I can follow a recipe. I'll try my best to make whatever you like! Anything you like!

[It's as if Sky High has absolutely no settings between "Low" and "Full Power." Agnes winces and waves a hand.]

I don't care. There's frozen meals, that's fine.

...You should get something too.

[At this point it's unclear what hospitality rules apply. Better to cover the bases. The last thing she needs is Sky High passing out mid-flight because he was too polite to eat or something.

With her schedule, Agnes isn't much of a cook either. Her meals are usually from restaurants or the freezer. Though if Keith's somehow morally opposed to frozen (they're not very healthy!) he'll find pasta and sauce. Maybe salad.]

[He frowns at the answer - it doesn't sound like the best diet if that's what she eats normally - but nods gratefully.]

[With that he's back into the kitchen. Agnes will hear more banging and rattling about as he searches the kitchen and digs out what he needs followed by cheerful whistling as he works. Because Keith is virtually incapable of doing anything quietly.

He doesn't want to keep her waiting too long but a healthy diet is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Ms Agnes may not need to keep herself at the same level of physical condition as the heroes do but that's no reason to neglect her health. Especially not when she's in recovery.

Finally he emerges carrying a couple of plates, cutlery clattering along behind him as it's carried on a miniature whirlwind. One plate is set on Agnes' lap and Keith catches a knife and fork out of the air to present to her with a flourish.]

Here we go! I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long.

[He'd taken one of the frozen meals that actually had some vegetables included and that combined with some pasta and sauce and what salad he could scrounge up make for an acceptable meal. It also leaves some left-over pasta so she has something in the fridge if she needs it.]

[Despite the noise, Agnes finds herself drifting again. Everything keeps fading in and out,the distant lights blurring into longer and longer periods of blankness. In a more coherent state this would be very irritating. She's barely even worked ten hours today!

It doesn't seem like Keith's gone very long.

Agnes does manage to shake herself back to awareness as the food arrives. There's even a bit of a smirk at the presentation. Points for style! The meal is good, too. Surprisingly so. She keeps meaning to say that, or at least say 'Thanks,' but all of her concentration is absorbed by the process of eating. It seems to take a lot of energy just to get the fork from plate to her mouth and back again.

Whatever Keith's talking about now, she's completely missing it.]

[Keith has plenty of practice at carrying an entire conversation by himself - something John could readily attest to were he capable of speech - so Agnes' silence doesn't bother him in the least. He chatters lightly about anything and everything - the show today, a recent publicity event he'd attended, John, the other heroes - as he sits and watches Ms Agnes eat, his own meal gone much faster.

Once she's done eating he'll need to see what else she needs help with before she gets some much needed sleep. She needs her rest and-

And she'll need to bathe at some point. She'll need a chair and someone should be around in case she runs into a problem. It's not a comfortable thought and not one he's eager to bring up but this isn't about him. He has to at least ask if she's thought of that already....

Maybe it should wait until tomorrow.

His chatter slowly trails off and he sits watching Agnes quietly with a worried frown.]

[Agnes is being less than an ideal patient, but she did at least book a nurse to help her. She sees no reason to share that, though. It's a good thing tomorrow is an off day. Getting the hang of this will take longer then she thought. Unlike Heroes, you can't just shout a broken bone back into order.

The stream of words has dried up. Glancing up from the food, Agnes realizes Keith is just... looking at her. Not staring, not anything that's uncomfortable. Just - observing? Yes, that's closer. She arches a brow at her "guest."]

Now what's wrong?

[She's home, she's sitting, and she ate. What else will it take for Sky High to leave her alone?]

[Keith jumps at the sudden question, knocking his own plate to the ground with a rattle.]

Ah sorry! I was just.... Have you got someone to help you Ms Agnes? With... other things?

[Realising that may sound like an insult he starts babbling nervously, hoping she doesn't think he's trying to take advantage of her while she's (maybe a little but not really) vulnerable.]

It's just that it can be hard doing normal things when you're hurt and if you're not careful you could hurt yourself worse. I'd be happy to help if you need it. Because it is my fault and I don't want anything else to happen to you. That's the only reason, I promise!

[Are they back to this again? She knows Sky High means well, but... why is he looking so flustered, anyway?]

What - You mean like the bathroom?

[Whatever hangups Keith has about the whole thing, Agnes doesn't share them. She waves away the suggestion impatiently.]

They showed me how to do that in the hospital. I managed all day without you, didn't I?

[Although that's... debatable. And it's not fair, after all the help, to leave Keith worried.]

If it makes you feel better, there's an aide coming in the morning. Okay? I just want to go to bed.

[Since her muscles are feeling better, it's time to try the crutches again. Using the couch arm for balance, she hoists herself up. It's a clumsy job, but she manages. The sense of accomplishment is oddly disproportionate. She's just standing, for God's sake.

If Sky High tries to carry her this time, he's going to get a crutch to the shin.]

Good, that's good!

[It does make him feel better to know that someone will come to help Ms Agnes with that sort of thing. And selfishly relieved to not need to worry about the uncomfortable subject himself.]

You're right, I should let you rest. I'll clean up and let myself out.

[He gets to his feet as she does but doesn't try to pick her up again yet. He does hover nervously by her though, ready to move in if she so much as stumbles. Even if she doesn't, he has every intent of following her all the way to the bedroom, just in case.

He can call her in the morning to see how she's doing. Or maybe just drop by after his morning jog. Even if she's having trouble Ms Agnes wouldn't say and if he turns up and she's alright he can always leave again.]

[Agnes makes a non-commital noise. She's concentrating on navigating. Who decided to put all the furniture so close together anyway?!

She gets about halfway down the hall before she realizes the cell phone is back in the living room. Great. It'll go dead if she doesn't get it.

Agnes is so used to being the only person in the apartment that, incredibly, Sky High has momentarily been forgotten. At least, until she swings around and knocks into him.]

Oh!

[The bump is all it takes for Keith to decide to scoop her up again and begin to carry her towards where she'd been heading previously - what he assumes is the bedroom.

How far he makes it before getting hit in the head with a crutch is anyone's guess.]

Please do be careful Ms Agnes!

[The thin veneer of patience finally disintegrates. (Un)Fortunately the hallway is too narrow to get a good swing.]

What do you think I'm trying to do?!

[Instead, Agnes throws a crutch across the bedroom doorway, stopping their progress. It's not exactly a solid strategy. This is one of the most powerful NEXTS in the city, after all. If he wanted to, it would end up in matchsticks.

She's too angry to care.]

[Sky High has the sheer raw power at his disposal to send vehicles flying, to create hurricanes and to leave craters in his wake should he choose. In the face of one, average human's anger....

He cowers like a whipped dog.

To be fair, Agnes is anything but average and a wise man knows better than to get on her bad side. Even Keith knows better than to want to get on her bad side.]

O-of course! Right away!

[He lowers her back down as gently as if she were made of eggshells but remains planted firmly behind her. She needs to rest and whatever she was thinking of before can certainly wait till morning.]

I was afraid you might fall because of me. I don't want anything else to happen to you Ms Agnes. I only wanted to help.

[The immediate response mollifies her. Slightly. Whatever she'd meant to get has been forgotten. It probably wasn't that important. Agnes continues to her room, fuming. The pain is beginning to build into an insistent buzz. She's sick and tired of being Reasonable. If barking commands is what it takes to get Keith to leave - To stop making that face, stop looking at her like she's -

Broken, useless, helpless

- then that's what it takes. The scowl sets in. If there's any waver, he'll probably try to tuck her in or something. The words are even.]

"I... appreciate today. Now good night.

[The door doesn't slam. Agnes can't get enough momentum. Still, the click is loud and clear - Go home. ]

[Keith stands before the closed door for a long minute, staring at it in mingled confusion and hurt. He hadn't meant to upset Ms Agnes. She must be very tired. She did work so hard even when injured.]

Ah, good night Ms Agnes!

[Taking the hint ~~finally~~ he goes back to the main room to collect the plates and quickly clean up as promised. He still needs to go for his patrol and John will worry if he's late getting back. Regardless, he makes time to wash up and leave a cheery note stuck to the fridge thanking Ms Agnes (and thanking her again) for dinner and everything else. Then he slips out quietly as possible to go on his way.

If she's still awake later she may see him fly past the building, checking that everything looks quiet from without.

He'll check back on properly her in the morning, after his jog.

Or that's what he thinks anyway. As with many things, the following day doesn't go quite according to plan. First his patrol is busier than usual, keeping him out late and leaving him tired when he gets up the next day. Then just as he's finishing his morning jog there's a report of some criminals taking a group of hostages in a shopping district. When that's finally resolved he takes John out for his afternoon walk during which he runs into a poor man who's lost his wallet and needs to borrow some money, and a young woman selling flowers to buy food for her family, and some children who want to pet John and...

It's getting dark by the time he arrives outside Agnes' building again, carrying the flowers he'd bought earlier. He hopes she doesn't think he's forgotten her.

...The entrance is locked and needs a key or someone inside to unlock it. Staring at the intercom panel helplessly he tries a few buttons but no one can tell him which number is Ms Agnes' and after getting yelled at - the third time - he gives up. Stepping back to study the balconies jutting from the side of the complex, Keith looks around to make sure he's not being watched before lifting into the air. He just needs to remember which is the right one. And hope no one spots him from inside.]

["Day off" turned out to be a misnomer. At least Agnes got enough sleep. She had about five seconds to appreciate it before the pain demanded attention. Then she remembered the phone, eight hours too late and dead.

Things did not improve. Between coordinating the hostage rescue broadcast and therapy, the day passed in minutes. The nurse had a slightly easier time handling Agnes then Keith. (Possibly because at NO POINT did she offer to carry Agnes.) Still, they were both relieved when the session ended.

Now Agnes stands on her balcony, taking a rare minute to just enjoy the quiet. Sky High's ~~threats~~ promises to visit again have been forgotten. He's no more on her mind then any of the other heroes - until a shape darts past her railing. At first she's too flabbergasted to do anything. On the next pass, she hobbles closer to the edge, attempting to flag him down.]

"You idiot! Get in here!"

Ms Agnes!

[He brightens at the sound of her voice and drifts back over to drop lightly down on the balcony beside her.]

I'm so sorry I'm late! Again, I apologise! After the broadcast I had to walk John and there were some people on the way and then I couldn't get inside. But I'm here now!

[He beams at her like that explains everything because really, what could be clearer? And then remembers the bouquet of flowers he's carrying.]

Here! These are for you!

[Agnes just splutters and does not take the bouquet. She's too busy trying to puzzle out where she lost this story. Sky High nearly broke cover. If he scared the wrong neighbors the police could have called in on a rogue NEXT. (Oh God, they would NEVER hear the end of THAT.) And, most confusing of all, he's standing there grinning. As if this is the best part of his day.

Also, how is she supposed to carry flowers?]

[Fortunately for Agnes he realises his mistake almost immediately.]

Don't worry, I can take them inside and put them in a vase for you if you like.
