THE RANDOM SCENARIO MEME 3.0

- Post your character, name, and series in the subject. Include any preferences as well.
- Go to RNG and enter 1-7 for a scene type, and 1-20 for a scene to play out.

TYPE OF SCENE.
① Action → Gun fights, bar brawls, fights to the death are all possible scenarios.
② Angst → Characters suffer emotionally or physically from relationships breaking up, death, injury, etc. Hurt and comfort themes are included.
③ Crack → Genderswaps, super powers, sudden compulsions are all possible outcomes.
④ Fluff → Something that is devoid of angst. It's light-hearted and might have the overtone of romance.
⑤ Gen → General fun, things that didn't fit in the other categories.
⑥ Sex → First times, kinks, even dubcon are all possible themes of sex related scenarios.
⑦ Your choice → Think of your own scenario, choose one of the above or make a combo even!

ACTION.
① Zombies → It's the zombie apocalypse, lock and load!
② Bar brawl → You had one too many drinks, said something wrong, and now you're being asked to take it outside.
③ Chase → You're caught in a high speed chase.
④ Gun fight → You're caught in a big shoot-out.
⑤ Fight with a friend → You're fighting with a friend, all out.
⑥ Interrogation → You're being interrogated for some offense you've done.
⑦ Aliens → Aliens are attacking and you're not going to take your probe laying down!
⑧ Final battle → This is it. The battle that will end all the fighting for you. Will you win? Will you get that peace you want?
⑨ Training → You're not actually fighting, just training for the inevitable.
⑩ No hope → You know this fight has no hope. It's not going to end well for anyone involved, but you can't turn away.
⑪ Sneaking in → You're stealing a diamond or sneaking in to kick some bad guy butt, but whatever it is, you have to practice stealth.
⑫ Blue wire → You're faced with a bomb that needs to be disarmed.
⑬ Fight for honor → You've been disgraced or someone you care about has, so it's time to fight for honour.
⑭ Showdown → Time for a cowboy-style showdown. Whoever draws the fastest wins.
⑮ War → You're caught in the middle of a war here. Remember to keep your chin up and keeping fighting.
⑯ Apocalypse → The apocalypse finally happened and now you're left to scavenge and fight for whatever is left.
⑰ Sabotage → It's time to sabotage someone's plan! How is entirely up to you. Do you set up a bomb in their toilet? Do you double cross them at the last minute?
⑱ Big damn hero → You know you have to handle this one alone, so that means disarming or knocking unconscious the person who wants to join you.
⑲ Fight club → You know the rules... you're in an underground fighting ring and you're fighting with all you've got.
⑳ Threaten → You've just been sent here to rough them up a little, threaten them into behaving.

ANGST.
① Injury / illness → Your character has become injured or ill! To what extent is the mun's choice.
② Last moments → You character has been gravely injured and this is their last chance to say their last words.
③ Depression → Your character is depressed, what actions they take is up to the mun.
④ Betrayed → You character has been betrayed by the other. How do they react?
⑤ Tortured → Your character is being tortured and needs rescuing or at least a sympathetic ear to help him through it.
⑥ Jealousy → Your character is feeling jealous and must deal with it, how will they do it?
⑦ Breakup! → This relationship has gone as far as it can, it's time to breakup.
⑧ Broken → For whatever reason, the character is broken, mentally or or physically.
⑨ Fight → You can't even be in the same room as your friend or lover without arguing anymore.
⑩ Lost → You lost the biggest fight of your life and now all you can do is try to pick up the pieces.
⑪ Worst nightmare → Whatever you fear the most is now real or maybe you're just trapped in a dream together, but whatever it is, it feels too real.
⑫ Addicted → You're addicted to something, alcohol, drugs, sex, whatever. It's destroying your life and you can't do anything to stop it.
⑬ Hurt you → You're being forced to hurt someone you love either by betraying them or even being forced to shout things you don't mean. It's for their own good in the end though.
⑭ Separation → You were forced to leave this person for their own safety and while you've been miserable without them, you really didn't mean to run into them again... maybe it was by accident or you were watching them from afar this whole time.
⑮ Becoming a monster → You are slowly changing, becoming a monster: vampire, zombie, demon, something you can't recover from and no-one can help you.
⑯ Frozen → You are entirely helpless, frozen, to stop some kind of disaster.
⑰ Prison → You were very bad and now it's time to pay the price by turning yourself in or maybe the law just finally caught up to you.
⑱ Fear → You're not sure why, but you are suddenly terrified and you can't deal with it. You need help.
⑲ Hated → You are now hated by the person you loved the most.
⑳ Down and out → You're living on the streets, you've hit rock bottom, and you don't know what to do.

CRACK.
① Sexswap → Uh-oh, you're suddenly the opposite sex!
② Forced confessions → No matter what it is and no matter how hard you resist, you're going to be compelled to spill some deep dark secret!
③ Mind-reading → You've suddenly got the ability to read minds!
④ Animal → You're suddenly part animal or transformed into an animal!
⑤ Awkward pick-up lines → You're compelled to use bad pickup lines on whoever is closest!
⑥ Back in School / Graduated → You're suddenly back in school! Or if you were already in it, you've aged and long since graduated!

⑫ Suddenly a kid → You're a kid again! Have fun with that second childhood.
⑬ Fortune cookie → You've suddenly received a note with something that will happen in the future, either precise or vague.
⑭ Super power → And suddenly you're like Superman! Any power goes.
⑮ Bodyswap → Somehow you've changed bodies with the other person.
⑯ Back in time → Somehow, you wound up in the past again. Do you try to correct something or just sit and wait for time to jump? Maybe it jumps to various points in your life or maybe you actually think you're back in the day. Have fun, run wild with the idea!
⑰ To the future → Is it everything you've dreamed? Is it horrible? Whatever happens, you're here to witness what happens to you in the future. Either you take the place of your future self or you're just there to watch. Might cause some confusion if people start seeing double though...
⑱ Angels, mermaids, and fairies! → You're not necessary something dark or evil. You're just something different. How do you deal?
⑲ Locked in a closet → For some reason, you're locked up in a closet with someone else. Do you make nice and try to figure your way out or what?

[She's not sure when it switched, calling him 'Keith' more often then not. Maybe in the car last night? She's used to thinking of him as just 'Sky High,' big and blond and LOUD, and he IS that (and is still getting called that when being particularly obnoxious.) However there's also this more thoughtful part. It keeps surprising her with its insistence. The part that's a person, not just a character from TV.

Her gift is instantly reading any scenario and running. Which she can't do right now, figuratively or literally. It's dangerous though, letting him worm in like this. She could shut the whole thing down easily. She should. Just tell him to fuck off and get the hell out of her apartment. Or ask how he felt, when he had to sit and watch other people do his job? That would shut him up.

And none of that would be fair. She doesn't want to hurt him, she wants... who the hell knows. Mostly for her leg to stop aching.

The glare now is more out of habit. Agnes sets a hand under her chin, the other tapping on the table between them.]

You've certainly put a lot of thought into it.

[It'd certainly be hard for him to argue if she did throw his words back in his face. Even when HeroTV gives him a day off Keith still has to do his nightly patrols and it takes a lot to make him miss one. But everyone needs to take time to rest and recover sometimes. It's really just a matter of how to get Ms Agnes to see that. At least she's willing to listen so it's a start.

Putting his fork down he meets her gaze seriously, giving her his full attention.]

Of course I have. You're important Ms Agnes. I want you to be happy. And I'd hate for anything to happen to you.

[He frowns, thinking back over how they came to this point. He doesn't want her to think it's just guilt over letting her get hurt that's making him say that.]

And not just because it's my fault you got hurt. I would- I do feel the same no matter what.

[Her being injured has just made it easier to involve himself in her personal life and reminded him that she is just human like the rest of them, no matter how much she might act otherwise.]

I think we're all so used to having you around we've started taking you for granted so when something happens to you it... makes us see how important you are.

[So this isn't his overdeveloped Boy Scout complex. Or guilt. She'd been operating under that presumption. Now it feels like someone changed the channel, and she's floundering without a guide. How does he keep doing that? And what is she supposed to say to things like that? 'Thank you'? Compliments on her work, physical appearance, things like that are fine. This -]

Well. That's...

['Sweet' is the word that nearly escapes. A term Agnes has used twice in her life, maybe.

He has very bright eyes.

Why the hell is she noticing that. That is completely irrelevant to the conversation. She tries to wave it all off, both the unhelpful observation and Keith's persistent forays back into personal. As if they're just buzzing flies. Unfortunately, they are not so easy to dismiss.]

It was a freak accident, okay? Things happen all the time. It doesn't make any of this special.

[She's dodging. Talking about the leg. Nothing else because there IS nothing else.]

[He's still frowning, frustrated by the feeling he's just not making himself clear (rather than that maybe she's avoiding the point). He's not as articulate as Barnaby and it's troublesome when he can't seem to express himself well enough to make a point. Reaching out Keith catches her hand, as if the physical connection will somehow help make his meaning clear.

...It's funny, he'd been so nervous at just the thought of holding the girl in the park's hand but this is the second time in as many days he's taken Ms Agnes' without even thinking. Though he's not entirely sure where that comparison came from, Ms Agnes is nothing like the quiet girl he barely got a chance to know. That's not a bad thing, mind - Ms Agnes certainly isn't going to disappear for any reason.]

You're right. It's not special. Everyone can get hurt. And everyone needs to lean on other people sometimes. There's nothing wrong with that.

[His cheeks flush red suddenly and he has to look down at the table shyly before continuing in a quieter voice-]

You could lean on me if you want. I wouldn't mind.

[Agnes starts, when his hand wraps around hers again.]

Look, Sky High - Keith -

[Then she catches the blush, right before he breaks eye contact. Oh wonderful. NOW he decides to be shy. Even his ears are going red, for crying out loud.

Why should this be some sort of big confession? He helps people all the time - but, Agnes realizes, they're usually not fighting him about it. He's used to battles, big explosions and mid-air theatrics. Saving people who want to be saved. On the ground, though, he's out of his element. Just like everyone else; fumbling and tripping but still trying. He does get points for that (Figuratively. For once, this isn't a performance grade.)]

It's really that important to you.

[Not a question. And she doesn't pull her hand free.]

Of course it is.

[He looks up again, determinedly meeting her gaze despite the fact his face is still hot.

He's not sure why Ms Agnes seems to have such a dislike of letting people help her - or maybe it's just letting the heroes since she's used to directing them as they save other people - but he wants her to understand how much he wants to be able to help.]

Why wouldn't it be? Why wouldn't it be important to me?

Because there's nothing in it for you!

[She's angry, suddenly, fingers clamping hard around Keith's. And there are words rushing out, ones she usually keeps safely stamped down. But he's listening and asking and that's enough.]

People are selfish. They're mean and small and petty, and all they want is to keep everyone at their level. Normal. Failing. You just - You have no idea how much you are an exception, not the rule, and I have to deal with that every day.

[And in case he's going to argue, she pushes on.]

Do you know how many production jobs there are at this level? Maybe a dozen. Do you know how many are held by women? One. One in twenty-seven years. That's not because of a lack of talent.

You want me to be happy? Fine. Being the best at my job and staying there. Making the biggest, flashiest "SCREW YOU" show I can. So all the jackasses can see they're wrong, and they watch anyway. That's what makes me happy.

[And... maybe that's finally going to get through. Why she won't just stay at home and rest. It's too much like being told to sit down, be quiet, and she has heard that too damn much.

Sometimes you fight so long you don't know when it's okay to stop.]

[Keith stares wide-eyed and silent through Agnes' explanation. When she's finished he takes his time putting together a reply before trying to speak. He needs to do this right.

He can't agree with her belief that people are at their heart cruel and petty - they may be capable of selfish actions but given the chance almost everyone will help someone in need. But that's not really the point here.

The idea that it was difficult for Ms Agnes to rise to her role of producer of HeroTV not just because it was a competitive field but because some people might not think she could do it solely because she was a woman wasn't something that had ever occurred to him. NEXT powers didn't discriminate and so (he assumed) such things didn't affect who became a hero. It's, fairly obviously, not something he's ever had to deal with.

It's also near impossible to imagine someone suggesting Ms Agnes is anything less than terrifyingly capable.]

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to suggest-

[He stops, tries again-]

I didn't know that it had been so hard for you. I'm sorry. It shouldn't be like that.

[His other hand comes up to cup hers between his own, thumb rubbing over the back of her hand in a vague attempt to relax her.]

I don't think anyone else could've made HeroTV as successful as it is. You are amazing and talented and as much a hero of this city as me or any of the others and anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong. But I worry about you pushing yourself too hard. Not because you're a woman but because you're always working so hard and I think you take care of everyone but yourself.

I won't- I can't make you do anything you don't want to but please, would you at least let me support you however I can? Even if it's just little things this- [he gestures at the food forgotten on the table] so you don't have to do everything yourself. I wouldn't think any less of you for it.

[NEXT powers don't discriminate, maybe. But that's not all it takes to be one of the Heroes. It takes showmanship. You only have to look at who gets full armor and who gets the skimpy, form-fitting costumes to see the proof of that. But that's the game. Most of the time it's fine, because you can be sexy if you want and wear heels and stomp everyone into the ground but it's every.

Damn.

And she's tired.]

Well, it is like that.

[There's still a bite in the words, but her fingers are uncurling.

Keith looks genuinely shocked, upset even. (Once again, how can he be this naive?) And his response - "It shouldn't be like that," an apology - It's rare. She's stopped talking about this because everyone's got an answer, and ALL of them are her responsibility; She's overreacting! She's hysterical! She should deal with it because that's how the industry is! Then, funny enough, those same people turn around and call her a bitch when she DOES deal with it.

Every day is a fight.

But... maybe she doesn't have to fight everyone.

Agnes doesn't trust herself to answer. Not yet. Instead, she takes another bite of the food. It's the only concession she can manage right now.]

[At least he seems to have gotten through. Not that she doesn't have the right to be angry but he doesn't like seeing people upset and Keith doesn't know what else he could say or do. Although her assertion that that is how things are has him shaking his head before he can think.]

Then we should help change it. Or I can, since I guess you already are.

[If it's truly as Ms Agnes described then that's not right and someone needs to act. Everyone deserves to be free to do the things that make them happy no matter who they are. It won't be easy, he's not so stupid as to think otherwise, but that's no reason not to do something.

But considering what she was just saying he should make himself clearer.]

I'm not trying to help because I think you need it more than anyone else. I just want to be able to be there for you. Because I care about you.

[Really. What's he going to do, demand Sexism surrender and go to jail quietly? Agnes tries to stifle the sudden snort.]

[But "ridiculous" fizzles out. There's something... different, in Sky High's tone. He might not even realize it. Agnes registers the shift, but simply doesn't have the capacity to process it. It's filed away for future examination.]

Fine. Do what you want.

[The meal is finished one-handed. Agnes keeps meaning to take her hand back, but the order never seems to get all the way to the end of her arm.]

[YES. Yes he will. He will give it a stern look and tell it to think about what it's done. Well, really he's going to ask Blue Rose and Fire Emblem for advice but close enough.

And Ms Agnes has agreed to let him help (or that's how he's taking it) so he's instantly more cheerful.]

I will! Thanks! And thanks again!

[Keith had forgotten he was pretty hungry too and with that resolved follows Agnes' lead and finishes off his food. When they're both done he finally pulls back and- he'd been holding Ms Agnes' hand this whole time? He hadn't really noticed and it makes him blush again to realise it. But she hadn't said anything so she must not have minded...

To cover his discomfort Keith begins tidying up, putting the leftovers in the fridge and the dishes over to be washed shortly.]

I can clean up and let myself out again if you wanted to get some rest.

[No good. Now Agnes has an image of Sky High sternly berating sexist pigs (complete with his customary DRAMATIC ARM GESTURES.) She has to keep stifling laughter. It requires so much concentration that she misses the blush this time. It's a relief when he lets go, though. Not a disappointment.

Not at all.]

You're not going to try and carry me?

[This is half a joke. Exactly half.]

[He would do it. All she'd need to do is point him at those in need of it because they were doing the Wrong Thing and have the cameras ready.

He stops and studies her at the question, head tilted as he tries to guess if she's serious. Considering he nearly took a crutch to the face last night it's safer to assume not. But if she's joking that's a good sign! She must be feeling alright.]

I can if you'd like me to!

[That was (sort of) a joke too. He'd rather not get hit in the head with a crutch this time. And she did manage to walk (hobble) in here herself.]

You didn't seem happy about it yesterday and you did manage all alone today. But if your leg is too sore I can help you get to your room.

[She has managed, but better to make sure.]

[Standing is getting easier. Satisfied, she arches an eyebrow a Keith.]

[The tone is lighter now, even though there's still quite a lot swirling around. This seems like a good place to leave things for now - a good producer knows when to end a scene! (God, she's editing her own life now. Maybe she does need the rest.)

In any case, Agnes is trying to make it clear she's joking and doesn't actually need help this time. Otherwise Keith's just going to start fussing and being irritating again.]

[Smiling he nods and moves to follow her out. She seems in better spirits now and like she might be willing to accept assistance if it's needed so he feels like he's done a good job tonight. But he's still going to keep a close eye on her just in case she stumbles again.]

[He should remember to get the computers and papers down again before he goes as well. It would be too risky for Ms Agnes to try and get them herself and she might need them tomorrow.]

[The next few weeks have their ups and downs. Agnes wheels easily on the crutches but everything aches at the end of the day. She has never been so aware of the skin under her arms. The cast itches fiercely and thank GOD for sweeps and multi-episode robot spider fights. She could kiss whoever was responsible for those!

She has made some compromises. There's equipment set up at home and she telecommutes most days. Her nurse may or may not be in cahoots with Sky High. Agnes never catches them plotting, but Keith is very good at picking up the same subjects where the nurse left off - more rest, less hours working, blah blah blah.

Keith. He seems to... always be there. It's weird how fast she's gotten used to it.

Not today, though. Fine with her. The doctor's finally letting her exercise and she does not need the hero hovering around literally or figuratively. The weather's gorgeous, and damned if she's staying inside. As the trainer gets things set up, Agnes pauses for a minute to enjoy the breeze. The park is full of noise, people shouting, dogs barking.]

[It is funny how quickly things can become routine. Now Keith's daily schedule always fits in time to check on Ms Agnes around his work and patrols. She seems to have gotten better about taking it easy and accepting help which has been a relief.

He hasn't checked on her yet today. John hasn't been getting as much attention as he should the past weeks so he's getting an extra long walk with lots of playtime to make it up to him. Keith himself is covered in sweat, grass stains and dog hair as a result and couldn't look happier as he trots along, leash in hand. He's heading out of the park when he spots the familiar figure and immediately calls out.]

Oh, Ms Agnes!

[Waving enthusiastically in case she somehow didn't hear him, dog and owner bound over and stop a short distance away. It wouldn't do for John to knock her over in his excitement.]

Hello! And again, hello! What are you doing out here?

[Of. Course. She heaves a sigh, and finishes tying her hair back.]

Dress shopping.

[Really Keith, she's in a tank-top with a yoga mat and weights next to her. What does it look like she's doing?]

Is this your dog?

[Well, who else could it be? Even if Keith did not constantly talk about his pet, there's no mistaking the resemblance. Both are practically beaming, with shaggy blonde hair/fur in complete disarray.]

[He actually blinks about for shopping bags before realising it was a joke and laughing loud enough to draw a few stares.

Quieting down he nods and drops to his knees beside John to scratch the dog's ears affectionately.]

That's right! This is John! Say hello John!

[The dog barks happily at her and then tries to lick his owner's face, prompting another peal of laughter.]

Down boy!

We were just out for walk. Do you mind if we keep you company for a bit?

[Yes Keith. A personal audience while Agnes tries to re-learn basic yoga moves is EXACTLY what she wanted. How did you guess?

Still, the laugh loosens her up a little. She even reaches to scratch John behind the ears.]

It's a free country.

[Technically it's a capitalist republic, but THAT is a discussion that will go nowhere.

The trainer introduces herself, exclaiming in delight over their company. "He's so cute!" she grins quietly at Agnes as she helps her into a leg stretch.

She means the dog. Right?]

[It's all the invitation he needs to sit down on the grass and watch, smiling at the instructor and introducing himself in turn. He occasionally gets distracted rubbing John's belly but otherwise watches the session with interest.

It's not something Keith's done much of himself. Physical strength and endurance have always been more important for him than flexibility but he should try it out some time. Who knows what might prove useful one day.]

Maybe you could teach me when you're fully recovered Ms Agnes. If you wouldn't mind.

[Apart from the odd other question or comment he's quieter than usual - partly as he doesn't want to interrupt and partly as he can't risk talking about anything that might lead to him having to explain to the trainer how he knows Ms Agnes.]

[Agnes makes a noncommittal noise, concentrating on pushing into the stretch. Between the cold muscles and heavy cast, she's not getting nearly as far as usual. A novice could do a better job. She wants more, to go deeper, but it's no good. The trainer may giggle too much, but she's firm on the range.

Still - Even doing this much feels fantastic. After a few cycles, Agnes sits back up to catch her breath. She's surprised to feel so winded after just stretching.

The trainer grins, turning to Keith and John. "Want to help?" she asks, holding out a resistance band to the dog.]

Sure!

[Surprisingly enough John waits until he gets a 'go ahead' from his owner before taking the offered band in mouth. Keith himself rises up into a crouch and rests a hand on John's back so he doesn't decide it's time to play chase now that he's been given a new toy. Watching the instructor and Agnes closely he waits to to be told what to do.]

["Such a well-trained assistant!" (Of course she means the dog! Who else would she mean?) The instructor sits with legs extended, then takes hold of the band on either side of John's mouth."It's an stength-building exercise. Can you have him pull slow?"

The idea is to have John pull back bit by bit, while the person sitting tries to keep him in place. It can't involve very much force yet, but it will be more fun with a dog, right? When the trainer's satisfied, she pats John, then guides him over to Agnes.]

Oh, my turn now?

[She's a bit more wary about this one. Dogs are fine. As a concept. However, Agnes can't really say she knows any personally.]
