[ it's good that kanagawa is right next to tokyo, and that kise apparently makes a lot of money from modeling, because train fares going back and forth from prefecture to prefecture must get insane. this is especially important for someone who's apparently "let it go" (disney ruining that phrase for the rest of our formative lives), because kise is still inclined and willing to invest that kind of money to make aomine do the most objectively pointless things in the world with him; basketball is basketball, but dragging aomine daiki around to stargaze is apparently another.

maji burger would probably have been a better hangout option by virtue of it being easier. why didn't kise just choose maji burger?? the world may never know. ]

he's been here for about 20 minutes already thanks to his shoot having been nearby, so he decides to keep himself busy by inundating aomine's inbox while he waits. ]

Ha ha, very funny. It didn't hurt that bad. We'd only be in trouble if you cracked the lens on my camera.

[Rewind lets out a soft laugh, and nuzzles him back, pressing one small hand over Chromedome's larger one. He rolls as best he can towards Chromedome, the little wing on his shoulder folding down to let him lay on his side.]

... Are you happy?

[captainhardness]

[The touch surprises him, and his eyes widen briefly before that gives way to a smile. That sadness is still there in his eyes, though, and he sighs slightly.]

Most people can't.

[Not the part about being a drifter--there were others out there who understood that bit all too well--but everything else he's not going to say and she wouldn't believe anyway.

But he's not one to stay on sad topics for long.]

What about you? You grew up here?

[She mentioned a Duke, so he can assume well enough. But still, there's genuine interest behind the question.]

[Maybe conditional happiness like that isn't ideal, but it's the best Chromedome has. He'll hang onto it forever if he has to. Every moment between them is a beautiful one. Happy.

The stars forgotten, Chromedome now gazes down at Rewind with a loving reverence. At times like this, he can only think about how lucky he is.]

[Mari simply clears her throat, managing to meet Jack's gaze (haughty though her own is), and just barely holds back a blush. She thinks. Honestly, this war has softened her too much.]

I grew up in Themis. It's rather far from here. [She breathes an almost imperceptible sigh, wondering how her dear father is doing.]

[But it's funny how easily he falls into that grasp, making himself comfortable almost immediately. If he could smile behind that faceplate, he'd be grinning proverbial ear to ear, a finger pointing right at the Autobot insignia on his chest.]

Oh, we're talking prices now? I don't know...I need something reliable before I can dish out any real funds.

[He leans in and gives Rewind a slow face nuzzle.]

But you better name your price soon. That comet isn't going to wait around forever.

[Rewind shifts his small fingers, locking them between Chromedome's gently. He was glad that he could make Chromedome happy, though the fact that they had to be in each other's presence for Chromedome to be happy really said a lot. There was a reason the two were rarely ever seen apart.

Rewind looks back at him, staring into his optics. He shifts his hand off of Chromedome's for a moment to give him a thumbs up, before gripping his hand again even tighter than before.]

Looks like we've got no choice but to stick together, huh, Domey?

[flashdrive]

[Just hearing that warms his spark, and when Chromedome's face leans down to touch his, a hand goes up to stroke along it. It's like he's momentarily distracted by it...

Before the larger bot brings him back to reality.]

Right!

[Keeping a hold of Chromedome's face with one hand, he puts the other to his mouth, before it dawns on him. Turning back to his conjunx endura, he pulls that face closer, touching their masks together.]

[One wouldn't think by looking at the two, but Rewind has always been stronger than him. In every way that matters, Rewind is strong. Chromedome needs him here, with him, always, so he can fool himself into thinking that he's a strong person too.

Sometimes he wonders why Rewind even stays. But usually such thoughts only plague him when he's alone. And he's rarely alone.]

I'm... sorry that I'm such a high-maintenance partner. I understand that it can't be easy but... I just wanted to say sorry.

Sometimes I think you're too good for me.

[needlefingers]

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

[He says playfully, his optics glowing with amusement.]

[Rewind narrows his optics at Chromedome. The last thing he needed was for his partner to start on with the self-loathing while they were relaxing together. He wanted this moment to be unendingly positive.

He presses himself into the larger 'bot's chest, face plate touching Chromedome's lightly.]

Just... stay here with me. Everything's okay when we're together, okay? Besides, neither of us is perfect. You know that.

[flashdrive]

[He sees that glow, mister! Don't you HMMMMMMMMM him! No HMMMS allowed!

But he laughs, giving his little 'bat' ears a tug before finishing his ascend to the bot's shoulders.]

Hey.

[His body tilts over, looking at him upside down.]


I love you.

[captainhardness]

[She thinks halfway correctly. It's not a terribly strong blush, but it's there, and it's cute.]

The war brought you here?

[It's a guess. He hasn't been on this planet long enough to get much of a sense of its geography or history. But it's a reasonable assumption, he thinks.]

[needlefingers]

[Chromedome can't help it. He needs the reassurance. He needs to know that Rewind won't get tired and leave him, no matter how tiresome his numerous issues are. That fear is always there, drifting around and attacking him when he least expects it to.

His own neediness disgusts him sometimes. He can only imagine what it'd be like being with someone who constantly has to be talked to and comforted. Not just that, but the nightmares and the occasional moments of anxiety can't be easy to deal with.

These self-destructive thoughts needle at him and threaten to pull him down.

There's no point in bothering Rewind with them though, so he puts on a happy face.]

Everything's okay when we're together.

[He echoes, not taking his optics off his partner.]

I love you.

[needlefingers]

I love you too.

[Chromedome lets out a long-suffering sigh and finally walks out the door. The door that's been opened for the past half-hour while the two of them bickered.

The comet itself blazes overhead, and Chromedome allows himself to pause so he can admire the view.]

Okay, are you ready?

[flashdrive]

[Oh Chromedome, you sigh but we all know how this ends. There's nothing you wouldn't give to make this little memory stick happy and you know it. He knows it. Heck, the whole Lost Light pretty much knows it.

He has to duck to avoid the door overhang, a soft 'whoa!' escaping before looking out at the comet, it's blue tail spread across the sky like a cape.]

Oh this is going to be perfect!

[There's a slight wiggle as he readies himself, camera blinking and zooming in as it gets to its closest spot.]

Ready.

[Chromedome vastly underestimated the amount of patience Rewind had in him. And not just for him. Rewind's patience, while having been worn down to its thinnest at certain times, had lasted millions upon millions of years; his unending search for Dominus Ambus proved that much.

All those times where they quarreled, all those times where Rewind caught Chromedome injecting, all the nightmares and the self loathing...

Moments like these, moments where he could just lie and enjoy the company of his partner, his conjunx endura, made none of it matter.]

[He turns his head back up towards the stars, jerking his head up in their direction.]

Look, directly up. If you squint, you can see your alt mode.
