I'm stealing this meme.

THE "STATE OF THE MEME" RANT MEME

Let's get meta. What are you feeling about memes these days? What memes do you want to see? What memes do you not want to see?

Memes memes memes memes.

Learn to be concise and coherent. A lot of the long prompts I see getting passed over are either a tangled mess of nonsense, be it because of an excess of canon-specific jargon or because the person giving them is just a crap writer, or are lengthy to the point of tedium. Unless you know the person you're tagging is a big fan of introspection and minutely detailed description, you're better off with something punchy and dynamic.

I agree with this somewhat, although, LOL, my idea of "nice, long prompt" is probably a paragraph of bracketed prose, followed by a spoken line or two. ;) I should have been more specific.

Oh, yeah, that's well within the realm of reasonable, then. I was thinking something more wall-of-textish, since that's what I usually see when people are complaining about long starters being ignored.
