I think if we want more people tagging memes, we need to start making them more general: not as in gen specifically, but in the sense that memes need to stop being so damn niche. Just look at the memes on the front page that got more than 100 tags, and they're not the weird fetish-specific ones that pigeonhole you into having your character take up one of two roles.

I'd love for this to be the norm, tbh. For one, it'd be a lot easier to tag a char/player you don't know much about if they give you a bit of info/pref beforehand.

I'd love to do it myself too, so I won't have to deal with a bunch of questions about my preferences for threads, but being the only one typing up this stuff in a starter makes me feel like a huge teal deer that needs to stfu.

Backtagging

So, basically I'm a slow tagger. I won't bore you with the reasons since it hardly changes how slow I am sometimes. And I mean sometimes hours, sometimes a flipping week between tags.

I feel super bad about it, but at the same time I keep itching to get back to roleplaying when I don't.

So, what do you guys think is acceptable backtagging? When is it just annoying? Is it better to drop threads when it's been like four days, or is it better to tag back just in case they want to continue? Am I an idiot for worrying so much about this...? I'd love some opinions just to feel you guys out.

I always respond to tags I have if I can. If I expect to be somewhat slow, I'll say so in my initial post as a warning. Otherwise, if I have a tag hanging for close to two weeks, I generally drop it unless the other person has expressed interest in continuing despite a late reply.

While I agree that that person needs to take it to a fucking musebox or start writing fanfiction if that's all they want out of RP, that sometimes feels like the rule, not the exception, here. I try to tag out as often as I can, but sometimes it really is that difficult to get an actual thread going.
