A Pillow Fort

[ Chuckling, Haruka tosses a pillow aside and stands up. If that's the plan, she better drain the last of this cocoa. ] I'll set up the video. Any requests?

[ She jumps up to run out of the room but then turns around to look through the doorway. ]

Did you even bring any pjs? I dont think I will have anything that will fit you unless you want to borrow something from my brother in law.

[ Haruka looks up from the movies long enough to wink. ] I'm set. Wouldn't be a sleepover if I didn't.

[ She keeps an overnight bag in the trunk of her convertible at all times. A soldier of the Outer Solar System must always be prepared. So does Kaioh Michiru's lover. ]

Okay! You can get changed wherever you want to!

[ She smiles happily and waves before running off again to go get changed and make a big bowl of popcorn and grab more drinks for the two of them. After a while she comes back to the living room wearing just a baggy t-shirt that might not belong to her, some cute happy berry pj pants and her hair is up in curlers ]

Time for the best sleep over ever?

[ Haruka, meanwhile, is in a short-sleeved silk set of blue pajamas with gold trim; there's an H monogrammed on her pocket and everything. She has also picked out a movie - has no idea what it's about, but the lettering on the box is suitably ominous and the people on the cover look plenty frightened. ]

We'll see. [ Do you need her to take anything? Your hands look awfully full. She'll step over in her brown suede slippers to give you a hand.

Yes, even her nightwear cost a small fortune. ]

[ She smiles brightly and hands her the bowl of popcorn and her own thing of cocoa. ]

Maybe you're not ready but I'm completely psyched!

[ Free refills! This is the best café ever. Has the most charming waitresses, too. Haruka accepts her portion of the snacks and inserts the movie into the player; she'll hold off on starting it till they're settled in.

Fortunately this is a nice big couch. She plants herself on it with an attitude that doesn't look inclined to go anywhere anytime soon, sets the popcorn to one side and pats the other side. ] Who gets the remote?

[ Do you leave your fate in her hands that much. Do you even take the ability to pause the movie away from yourself? ]

[ Miwako doesn't care who has control. She happily plops down on the couch next to her and even curled herself up close. Luckily or perhaps unluckily for her, Miwako was a cuddly one toward her friends. ]

Since you're the guest, I'll be nice and let you control it.

[ Haruka is a bit surprised at first by the cuddle, but she doesn't mind. Cuddles are actually pretty nice.

Plus, she's incapable of sitting on a couch without sprawling an arm across the top. This just gives Miwako something to rest her head on. ] Polite of you.

[ Okay. Pajamas, check; popcorn and cocoa, check; ridiculously adorable girl in curlers, check. Haruka points the remote at the TV and switches it on. Hopefully they won't regret leaving that pillow fort unfinished... ] Brace yourself.

[ Tonight is really entertaining. ]

Haruka laughs. ] Don't change the rules after we've cleared the starting line.

[ This is not one of those deep, tension-filled scary movies that Japan is so well-known for, the ones that make commentary about social issues or the human condition. No, this is a good old-fashioned creepy possession movie, full of increasingly eerie occurrences and sudden shocks. Haruka weathers them impassively, with the occasional dip into her bowl for popcorn. ]

ewwww they have cooties.

[ Haruka may notice that while the move starts, she might have a certain bubbly girl clinging a little closer to her. ]

[ That's just fine. Even if she keeps her eyes on the screen, she'll place a hand on Miwako's shoulder. This is half the point of scary movies, right?

Not that she finds this scary. As the protagonists run into a house to attempt to escape from the possessed child instead of staying outside, she sighs. No one in these things ever has a lick of sense... ]
