Let It Go



You’ve always had a power that you’ve had to keep secret. It was forbidden, something that people would fear, or something they might try to use for their own purposes. Whatever the reason, you’ve always had to hide it, no matter how hard it’s been.

But secrets can’t be kept forever, and it’s time for everyone to know. Did you snap? Did you run away so you could just let loose? Is the threat gone? No matter, it’s time to stop hiding and let that power fly just like you’ve always wanted it to. Just let it go.

Even if your character doesn’t have powers in canon, make something up! Post your power, preferences, and a starting prompt if you want to. Maybe you’d rather play someone who doesn’t have powers and is just trying to convince their friend/family/love to come home. That’s awesome too.
Scene suggestions:
1. Before exposure - You're hiding it still, holding onto that secret so hard because everything will be ruined if you don't.
2. Someone knows - To the public, you're still pretty ordinary (or as ordinary as you can be being you), but one person knows. What now?
3. The snap - It's too much. Maybe it's the weight of the secret, maybe someone set you off, but you showed off your power in a big way.
4. On the run - Everyone knows, and you're running away. Is there someone chasing you? Or are you running to someone?
5. Fortress of solitude - You've made your own sanctuary away from people. It's safe to be special here. But you might not be alone forever.
6. Just don't care - They know, but you're done apologizing for it, so they'd better get used to it.
7. Make up your own!

[Despite her relative youth, it hadn't took long at all for Summer to become a prominent and respected figure amongst the local Rangers. In part, this was owed to her fittingly sunny and personable outlook. Another contributing factor was likely her quickness on her feet, both figurative and literal. Last but perhaps most importantly was her skill at calming agitated wildlife, an ability considered by many of her peers to be uncanny, if not verging on the supernatural... an assessment more accurate than any of them knew.

Indeed, it was that very skill that proved vital in finally bringing to justice the syndicate of poachers that called themselves the Pinchers (stupid name, yes, but these guys were serious trouble). The case managed to attract quite a bit of media attention, so it was only natural that the Prosecutor's Office would assign the best it had to offer to deal with the group's leaders, while the Ranger Union sent the one who was at the center of the whole mess to get him up to speed.

She's made her best effort to simply gloss over the more fantastical elements of the story — like, say, the Pinchers using mystical gauntlets to control the captured creatures and her own power setting them free — but there's only so much one can do to dodge an issue, especially in the face of a man as perceptive as Miles Edgeworth. She studies the prosecutor's expression as she wraps up her report, anxiously awaiting his response.]

They're already a bit different. It's as if other children their own ages look at them and see something adults don't--something off. Something older. Something just unusual enough to bear a second glance.

So of course they've got to keep what's genuinely strange about them quiet. Of course they can't go around letting magic seep out of them. It had all sounded very sensible when Susan explained it.

But it feels less sensible when Peter throws himself into fights. When Edmund dives after him and the only thing keeping Lucy back is her sister's hand on her arm. It feels different when Peter's eye is starting to bruise and Edmund's lips is starting to bleed.

"--you-- have to let me help them." It's a whispered sort of plea, close to her sister's ear. "No one will notice. I promise."

Clark was still in his Superman attire. Full cape. Suit. The works. But he hardly looks anything akin to 'super' as he barely manages to fly to the balcony on Lois Lane's apartment.

Obviously, he wasn't thinking clearly. Or maybe he was, and he didn't think he could make it to Smallville in time or radio Bruce with any level of accuracy at this point. All he knows is that he needs someone he can trust, and he prays to God that Lois is that someone. If not, he's going to be in for a world of hurt.

But they've grown close as coworkers. She'll keep his secret if she finds out...won't she?

The sound of his body slamming into the glass door shakes the room.

"Lois?" he calls, his voice low and hoarse. There's something glowing, attached to his neck by something akin to a collar. It's Kryptonite. And it's weakened Superman so much that he can't move another muscle. It's reduced him to groaning on her balcony, helpless as a wandering pup.
