The Happy Ending Meme (or) The Person I Need Meme
The Happy Ending Meme -or- The Person I Need Meme ![]() |
Boy, the characters we love sure go through a lot, don't they? Epic battles, crapsack worlds, evil villains...or maybe they are the evil villains, no judgement here...or the terrible dreck of mundane living. It's rough out there. And don't even get me started on romantic relationships! It's dead love interests and forever alones all around if it's not will-they-won't-they shenanigans. Now, it's time to kill those two birds with one stone. Yes, that's right. Your characters will be getting the happy ending that they deserve (or don't, whichever), with the person they need to make them happy. Or as happy as they can be. The catch? Well, what you want isn't always what you need. Maybe your character's idea of their happy ending, I.E. being surrounded by the corpses of their dead enemies, isn't exactly the most healthy of things. Instead, what they'll be getting is what will lead them into being a more stable person in the long run. But who knows? If your character's ideal is domestic bliss, that may be what they get...if's that what they need. The same thing applies to the person they've come together with, somehow, the person who will share their happy ending with. Your character's mouth may say their dream girl is "buxom stripper who will follow my every whim," but what they REALLY need to ground them is a nice girl who won't put up with their crap, or someone kind but plain - You get the picture. Sometimes, the last thing you want comes in first; sometimes, the first thing you want never comes. But that doesn't mean your ending can't be happy. HOW TO PLAY

[She didn't get sick. There was no way in hell she could. She was too active; too healthy. So why the hell was she stuck at home with a cold? This was the most ridiculous situation, and on top of it, impossible. At least that's what she wanted to convince herself of.
She'd had to call off work. She'd had to give up her weekend shifts. In fact, her boss insisted she not come back in until she was good and ready, and that meant staying home for the remainder of the week until she was better. She was almost tempted to force herself to go, despite the weakness and the coughing. Then again, she wouldn't be much use as a Bouncer in the state she was in.
Sighing, she opted to hole herself up on the couch, grumbling as she flipped through the tv, curled up in the comfiest outfit she could find in her wardrobe. This was going to be a fun next couple of days.]

Is the tv really more interesting?

Gotta save my strength and get better-blah blahblah blahblah. [She sighed, leaning into the couch more as she pouted.]
I hate being sick...

Oh shut up. {Fang will soon be graced with a Lightning shaped blanket as the other woman curls around her.}
You need to rest. I don't care what other plans you made.
no subject
I know, but it's just weird laying around and doing nothing all day. I'm so used to bustin' my ass day and night to make ends meet...
no subject
Let me worry about that. {She gives the woman a decisive glare.} Let someone take care of you.

[Defeatedly, she wraps an arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer. Soul mates. Was that even the term for them? Whatever it was, she was happy with it. They were close. They had each other's backs. Thick and thin, and all that other stuff too. She couldn't count how many times she had to beat someone's ass over a particularly questionable date with the woman, but that was also due to instinct. Protectiveness was in her blood, and it didn't help that she'd been working as a Bouncer for several years since moving into town. It was second nature to just want to be at her every beck and call.]
So what did you have in mind, since tv seems to be so offensive?

I got us a movie instead. {It'll be something they can both enjoy - and, no, it's not a chick flick.
Could you imagine Light watching a chick flick? She'd destroy the tv.}And if you fall asleep during it, that's okay. {The movie is already in the player, so all Lightning has to do is commandeer the remote.}
no subject
Please tell me it's an action or a horror, because I swear the last time we got a movie I wanted to just jump off the roof... [She knew exactly how Lightning felt about chick flicks. Trust me.]
no subject
It's a little bit of both. {The comment brings a smile to her face and she leans her head back to give Fang a soft kiss.}
If the movie makes you feel that way, I'll jump with you.

She blinked lazily, raising a brow at a scene in the movie.]
Sure you wanna go down the creepy staircase, dude? Are you absolutely sure that's what you wanna do with your life?

Loki lives. Loki rules, rightful king, and Thor serves at his hand, protector of the realms, all as he desired, and the joy so great in his heart as to blind him. And in such joy he blinds other; in such joy he is magnificent, made golden and shining with love and infectious pleasure, so that all who enter into his company bask in it as in the light of a daystar. Even Loki's reluctant lips are often tugged into faint smiles, which Thor answers with beaming goodwill.
They breakfast together of a morning, Thor and his king, upon a wide balcony that overlooks the splendor of the city, their horns and trenchers overflowing with plenty. ] I fear I grow soft in these latter-days. There has been so little of battle and bloodshed, across the realms. [ Yet he can hardly bring himself to regret it. Thor drinks deeply of a honey-sweet wine, contentment a warmth and sweet weight within him. ] Have you any task for me, Loki-king?
no subject
And yet —
Loki-king.
The spell had not gone awry. He knows this. But there are always sacrifices to be made for the greater good, and this is one of them: the camaraderie that once ran bright as a sunlit river between the wayward sons of Odin. It burns still, but it is a flicker of candlelight rather than the roaring hearth that it had once been. This is not the Thor who would snatch fistfuls of Loki's cloak in order to drag him upon another hunt. This is not the Thor who had slammed him against a pillar, the callouses of his palm rough against Loki's mouth. ]
Mother's lilac garden requires weeding.
[ says Loki, the sly cut of his gaze belying his amusement. He shreds a morsel of bread between finger and thumb, scattering the crumbs across his plate. Idle hands, but never an idle mind. ]
Can I entrust you with a task of such import?
no subject
Though the gleam of mischief in Loki's eyes is familiar, and the laughter that rises in his own chest. ] Come, Loki, that does not serve. Put some pageboy to the task; Mother would-- [ But there the laughter fades, and though his lips curve the smile is tinged with sadness. ] Well, perhaps Mother would be pleased to have me see to it. Have you visited her garden of late?
