HOW IT WORKS:

[She sputters a bit, breathing heavily as she tries to catch her breath. She's shaking a little, and for a moment it's hard to tell what she's thinking.

But then she looks at Chris, and a smiles spreads across her face.] Can we do that again?

[beingthecreature]

[He blinked, then laughed and smiled brightly.] Sure!

I can teach you real quick to ask 'em yourself?

[strengthinkindness]

[If possible, her smile seemed to grow wider at that.] Okay...!

[beingthecreature]

Alright! [Grinning, he held an arm around her to support her, then gestured at the dolphins.]

It's kind of adapted language, since our vocal chords can't produce the exact sounds. But dolphins still understand it, and we're able to communicate just fine. Now, repeat after me, 'kay?

[And looking back at Fluttershy he makes a short series of noises, going slowly enough that she can, hopefully, mimic them.]

[Holding on to him and doing her best to keep floating, she listens carefully to the sounds he makes, and then very carefully tries to imitate them.

"Tries" being the keyword in this case.]

[He chuckled softly and repeated himself, going even slower. It was a sound at a time, waiting for her to repeat it, going over it again until she got it right before moving on.]

[She repeated the noises after him, and soon enough managed to get them to sound right.

Or at least presumably, since as soon as she says the whole string of noises together, Click swims under her and takes off again.]

[Chris grinned, as around him the rest of the pod started hopping around in the waves. He swished his tail and dived in, swimming to keep up with Click.]

[This time Fluttershy manages to hold on better, but eventually still slips and falls back in the water.

She's laughing as she resurfaces, shaking her water-logged hair from her face.]

Oh goodness, that is so much fun!

[Swimming in a circle in the depths by her, he came up beside her with a warm laugh of his own.]

It is, isn't it?

[She nods, dipping her head back to smooth out her hair.]

Do you do this often? Swim with the dolphins...

[beingthecreature]

Sort of, yeah. [He stays close to her, in case she needs him for support.] Enough to have made friends with all the dolphins in this area.

That's so cool! It must be fun getting to hang out with dolphins a lot...

[beingthecreature]

Yeah, it really is. [He gave her a soft smile.] It's amazing, getting to be out here.

[strengthinkindness]

[She smiled at him.] How often do you come up to the surface?

[beingthecreature]

Every now and then. [Then he chuckled a little.] But I think it might be sooner, now.

[strengthinkindness]

That's good...I'd really like to see you more...

[The words slip out before she can stop them, and embarrassed, she blushes and glances away.]

[beingthecreature]

I would too.

[He's silent a moment, then laughed a bit, suddenly seeming just a touch nervous himself.] After all, we've got stuff to teach each other.

[strengthinkindness]

R-Right...of course...

[Stuff. Teaching. That.]

[beingthecreature]

[He watched as the dolphins parted around them, heading back out the deeper water, and he waved them off then glanced up at the sky.]

It's getting late... Should I take you back?

[strengthinkindness]

[Glancing up at the sky as well, she sighed softly.]

I-I...I guess so...I...really should be going before it gets too dark...

[beingthecreature]

[He nods after a moment, then swims forward a little and stops, waiting for her to grasp onto him as before.]

[strengthinkindness]

[She does so, swimming up to him and carefully wrapping her arms around his shoulders.]

O-Okay...all set...

[beingthecreature]

[Once she's ready he begins heading back to shore, going just as slowly and gradually as he had when starting out.

Soon enough they come back up to the shallows, and he uses his hands to come to a slow stop]

Alright. Here we go.

[strengthinkindness]

Thanks... [Carefully she lets go and slides away from, standing once she feels the sandy shore under her.

Then she turns to him, hesitating for a moment.]

H...How will I...get in touch with you again?
