Opening his hand, he presents to her a conical, spiraled shell, pierced through with a few holes. A flute?]

What is it...?

It's a flute. [He smiled at her, and gestured at the ocean.] You can use it to contact me anytime. After I teach ya how to play it, of course.

Oh. [She smiled, relieved to have some way of contacting him.] And you'll be able to hear it wherever you are?

Anywhere, within a hundred miles. It's a special kind of flute, one we use for the exact same thing, after discovering that its sounds travel exceptionally well over and through the water.
