[ unflappable, Ren simply stares at Beni when he pulls back. there are traces of worry in his expression, because it seems he upset his friend and that wasn't what he wanted to do for sure. he gives Beni an apologetic look, for his part, looking just a little as if folding his ears down against his head--

if he still had puppy ears, that is. ]

I was returning the gesture. Is that not all right?

[ he's not quite as well versed in these things as Beni is, after all. ]

[That sad expression! Ugh it throws him off from being too huffy for long. Instead he becomes a little awkward and even more embarrassed. He can't stay even mildly annoyed at Ren too long. Maybe this is why he's spoiled by Aoba and Koujaku much more.]

Well it's just... I was trying to make you look embarrassed! [His great plan revealed.] I didn't expect ya to return it so I was shocked 'n stuff.[He's totally not still blushing!! Okay he is, but he's not as freaked out as he was before.] Ended up with me bein' all embarrassed, dammit... [He grumbles, letting down that act of being the coolest little not!bird around.]

[ Ren frowns slightly and now, instead of being upset with the admission, he feels a touch embarrassed and further confused. or flustered that he misread the situation so much and in a way upset his friend so much. his cheeks colour beneath the dark markings and he recalls some comforting gestures Aoba and / or Koujaku did-- either with each other or their close friends.

or simply... what Aoba would do with him, sometimes, for their mutual comfort.

which is put his forehead to Beni's, hand coming to rest on the back of Beni's neck, just beneath the hairline, in a comforting rub. ]

I'm sorry I embarrassed you, I didn't intend to.

[ now how to salvage the situation? perhaps he could make it up to Beni, make him more comfortable again. ah... but again, how is the question. ]

[ for all the good intentions, did Ren just make matters worse? or not?! tune in!! ]

[He's try to recover his dignity and calm himself down. Ren seems better so he'll just be-

Wait what is Ren doing what is... he's going to malfunction of this keeps going! Beni is having a mini robot panic attack because this isn't normal between two friends!! He's pretty sure even between best friends this isn't something humans do, too! What on Earth is Aoba teaching Ren!? He likes Aoba and all, but man, Aoba needs to take Ren out more with more people.]

For someone who ain't tryin' ya sure are doing a good job at it! [He says, stuttering a little and blushing again. His voice raised and he doesn't mean to sound pissed off but he's so frazzled. He wiggles out of the hold, but his movements aren't too violent. More like I MUST ESCAPE I AM SO EMBARRASSED SOMEONE HIDE ME.]

Retry? You wanna kiss properly or somethin' this time? You like embarrassing me now like Koujaku? [Guess who had his thoughts on the kiss rather than the photos.]He better not be rubbing off on you or I'll punch him good! I bet he put ya up to all of this knowin' his scheming ways.

[ well, that backfired spectacularly. ]

He is not and he has not. I would not embarrass you intentionally even if he asked me to.

[ and that said, Ren is at a loss. here they are, in this cramped space, the paid time already having ran out, unable to work things out and Ren just making things worse and not knowing what to do to fix the situation. he listens carefully to what Beni says, of course, but analysing it brings up a failure after a failure--

earnestly: ]

I was suggesting a retry of taking the photographs. Would a proper kiss be a better choice?

[ the kicker? he does not seem opposed to the idea himself at all. ]

[It's time to finally get composed, and so he fixes his hair a little out of a nervous tic. It's good to hear Koujaku didn't do anything to Ren because that's very important! That and ugh Ren is such a good friend...]

That's what I like about ya, and that's why you're my best friend! [Not many would but up with his behavior, and he starts to seem more relaxed and whatnot.]

Nah it's-[Then he realizes the second part of Ren said. He doesn't say anything for a few seconds, but his facial expression changes to that of extremely flustered.] Ya don't say embarrassing stuff like that out loud! You just do it and sweep the other person off their feet! [He said nothing about not kissing, though. This is the tsundere way of giving Ren permission to do so.]

[ with Ren, it always helps to be direct. it pays to be direct. speaking figuratively will only get him questioning things in circles until the end of time-- until everything is black and white and statements are down to the point.

but not this time, thankfully, because the instruction is clear enough and not even Ren is oblivious enough to it. he gives a slow blink, one, two, processing it to make sure he's reading it right (as if that'd help), then finally: ]

All right.

[ he doesn't even nod, or give Beni much time to react, before reaching out to pull him closer again. it's easy enough. Beni is smaller, lighter, Ren pulls him into his lap, with his free hand tilting his face to make it easier to drop a kiss on his lips.

though if Beni was hoping for a kiss of his life, that takes his breath away and makes the ground shake, then he'll be sorely disappointed. it's chaste, awkward, showing lack of experience, and certain proclivities of Ren's take over-- lips against lips, then tongue against lips, when he slips the tip of his tongue out to lick at Beni's lips. he drags it over the soft skin in a slow, long lap. ]

[Hearing Ren says it's all right eases him once again, but that doesn't last long because... WAIT WHY IS HE SAYING ALL RIGHT? He's too busy trying to figure it out before he can put all the pieces together. He's wondering what Ren is doing and about to comment when he realizes he's being kissed. Koujaku did not prepare him for this!!

He's too caught up to really enjoy and react properly to the kiss. It's not like he has a great amount of experience himself (he blames Koujaku), but he does eventually physically react because it's hard not to. His lips pushing against Ren's just a little, his tongue moving. Still, during this whole time he has a look of horror, confusion, and embarrassment.

At least he's not going to comment on the style of kiss because he's so overwhelmed. Instead he looks like he's going to yell or say something loudly, but instead he's quiet and still trying to process what happened.]

[ during the kiss, Ren kept his eyes open and he saw all that-- the expressions on Beni's face, the tension he saw. and no matter how pleasant it felt, because the lips beneath his were pleasant to kiss and lick, Ren couldn't enjoy it fully. hand still on Beni's jaw, he pulls back from the kiss with a last lick and a light scrape of teeth-- fangs against the tender flesh.

when stared at, he stares right back. but Ren looks on with worry and concern. ]

Beni. Are you all right?

[Hearing Ren's voice asking if he's all right distracts him from all the emotional build up that's wracking his brains, so he responds to that right away.]

Y-yeah... [The kiss wasn't a bas experience at all and far from it. Maybe if took control of the kiss or Ren-

Then he starts to realize what he's thinking about. He's thinking about the kiss that just occurred between and that gets the ball rolling again.]

No wait, wait! [Cue the explosion of everything coming together.] What the hell didja just do! Y-you kissed me and ya used your tongue and fangs and all that!

Ya kissed me right here! [He points to his mouth. Beni, why are you stating the obvious?]On the lips 'n stuff and- who taught ya to do that stuff huh!? I wasn't ready for that! Could've warned me you wanted to move in that direction or something! [Wow blame Ren!! Even if Beni started this all, he's too embarrassed and dumb with feelings to be responsible. Whoops.]

You embarrassed me a lot, dammit! You made me look super uncool, too. [He says this loudly of course, but he sounds more frustrated and embarrassed than pissed off at Ren.]

But since it's you... [he pauses.] You're the only one that can see me this uncool and embarrassed, got it!? Only you! [What is he saying he doesn't even know but ugh these feelings are dumb and he doesn't want Ren to feel bad.]

Next time I'm gonna be the one making the moves and making you all embarrassed, got that!? [Tsundere explosion of feelings everywhere.]

[ it's a lot of words and Ren patiently waits, without interrupting him, until Beni is done with his little (or not so little) outburst. gradually his expression shifts along with the words coming. from the genuine worry, through guilt at having upset his friend for the nth time that day, to relief when he's forgiven. Ren visibly relaxes, but he keeps Beni close. ]

Understood.

[ outside the booth people are whispering audibly as they pass-by. Beni's voice was noticed and heard, but Ren ignores that fact. ]

Next time, [ just repeating after Beni-- who was quite blatantly implying there will be a next time, Ren doesn't think twice about it. ] you'll be leading.

[There's a little fear in him that Ren would be upset or would be angry at him, but hearing that he "understood" makes him sigh with relief (understood what? who knows). His whole body relaxes and he doesn't seem so on edge anymore. Actually, he's almost making himself more comfortable.]

Damn straight I'll be leading! [He sounds excited.] Then I'll show you all the skills I've learned. [What skills... but luckily he knows Ren won't question it.]

[There's a little pause before he speaks again, and it's a lot quieter and calmer than his previous tone.] What if I said that next time should be right now? [For someone so cocky, he sounds unsure of himself right now.]

[ and Ren certainly doesn't question it, he seems more glad now that Beni has calmed down and isn't as flustered anymore. he's equally comfortable where he is, not bothered by the weight on him or the slight squirming. ]

It would be fine with me.

[ he says calmly, patiently, expression placid, arms loosely wrapped around Beni's waist. ]

Do you want to kiss me right now?

[ and just like Beni requested, Ren doesn't make any move, simply waits and gives his friend a chance to act on what he wants to do. he doesn't take the initiative. ]

[It's totally not like he was was worried that Ren would turn him down!! Who could turn him down anyway? Only a fool! Yet he's still a little unsure about things because a few minutes ago they were in the friendzone and now who knows.

This has been quite the experience and one hell of a ride. Speaking of a ride, he doesn't mean to cause even more of an emotional roller coaster for Ren, but hearing such direct statements about these things works him up. It's just in Beni's nature to be highly reactive, not thinking fully about what may come after at times. Still, he's much calmer than before.]

I said it already didn't I? Ya don't need to ask again. [Huff huff. He looks a little grumpy but he's not yelling at least. He straightens up his upper body and puts his has palms on each side of Ren's cheeks. He just stares at him for a few seconds, trying to work up the courage to actually go through with it. He nods a little before he moves angles his heads upwards towards Ren to kiss him. It's just a little peck on the lips at first. He pulls back about a centimeter before he kisses Ren again, this time with more courage and less uncertainty. He has to remind himself what he should be doing because he's pretty inexperienced himself. He eventually licks Ren's bottom lip almost gingerly to ask for permission. For someone so abrasive and loud, he's actually being rather timid and gentle.]

[ not thinking fully, but thinking himself in circles-- that's Beni. while for Ren it's a simple matter: the act is something done between two people attracted towards each other, which... all right, isn't exactly the case here as the concept of attraction strictly the same way humans understand it, may be lost on them in particular. but there's attraction in the form of fondness for each other, they are friends, engaging in a pleasant act. both of them willing, both of them enjoying it.

no doubts, no qualms, no worries.

Ren takes it as it comes and when Beni kisses him, he returns it, almost mimicking his friend in an attempt not to fluster him again. he moves his lips, parts them when requested to do so with gesture rather than word. his own hand comes to rest on the back of Beni's neck, like before, the other on his waist. quietly encouraging while reciprocating, not quite as shy himself though. ]

[At Ren's movements, it's a weird mixture of reassurance and another thing to worry about. Not that worrying is bad here, but more like he really doesn't want to look uncool in front of Ren. Even though Ren says some weird stuff, he really thinks Ren is super cool and admirable, so being fond of him was never hard. He also gets points because he's cool and doesn't even try! Beni tries pretty hard to be cool... maybe too much at times.

He doesn't even realize it, but the nervousness creeps on him a little again. He pauses a little, just pressing their lips together. He then feels the hand on his waist. He closes his eyes, and then he decides to cut all this nervousness crap out! It's not that he has to look cool or be cool, but he shouldn't be nervous with Ren of all people (lol). A few seconds later that hesitance he had before is gone. Ren seems into it, so he should be showing that he's not unsure!

His kissing becomes much more confident, his tongue being more adventures and he's not as gentle as before, too. Not that he's overly roughly, but maybe a little bit of Koujaku's style rubbed off on him here or there. He's going to take leading this kiss rather seriously, but of course he's enjoying it as well. He doesn't care how long this goes on or if they're even taking pictures anymore. If anyone disturbs them now, he's going to give them a beating!]

[ most patient of the patient, Ren felt no need to rush Beni in any way. the kiss continued at the pace his friend was most comfortable, even if the longer it lasted the more difficult the purely physical desires were to control. the eventual burst of confidence doesn't come as a surprise at all-- and it encouraged Ren to add a bit of himself to the kiss, give in (a little!) to instincts he never knew he had.

a long lick there, a scrape of teeth along Beni's tongue or lips here, as his fingers slide up into the soft red hair-- fluffy, reminiscent of the allmate's feathers, almost the same texture. his fingers curl, in the hair and against the fabric of the outfit Beni is wearing. his own eyes are open, half-lidded and watching with some focus.

that is until someone knocks on the outside of the booth. at least -- whoever it is -- didn't immediately lift the curtain to check on them. it gave Ren the moment necessary to pull back (and only pull back from the kiss, his hands remain where they were). not with embarrassment, but it's a natural reaction to when something requires his attention. and this certainly is that something. they have been in here for a long while now, perhaps someone wanted to use the booth and they were blocking the queue. ]

We should move elsewhere.

[Kissing Ren is a new experience for him and a rather exciting one. He's been cooed at by a few women because of Koujaku, but this time Ren is focusing on him because it's him. He's starting to really get into it because Ren is, too. He's no longer over thinking and just reacting to the kissing, going with the flow instead of trying to impress. So when someone interrupts them, it's pretty jarring for Beni.

He looks frazzled once again, his hand moving off Ren to form a fist. He looks at the door, only thinking about yelling at the rude person who's outside (ignoring the fact they were technically being rude whoops).] Yeah, after I punch whoever that was! [He gives Ren more space, picking up the pictures and standing up. He fixes his hair and his clothes.] We paid good money for this, ya know, jackass! [who cares if the person heard them.]

[ unlike Beni, Ren can't exactly stand at his full height in the booth. so he puts his hand to Beni's shoulder in an attempt to keep him calm and a little more composed while still seated-- ]

We did, however we have stayed behind too long.

[ it's not that he's not disappointed that they had to break the kiss, but responsibility comes first and besides, they can just as well continue when they return. or at any other time, provided neither Aoba nor Koujaku need them. he can be patient easily-- though Ren also does realize that Beni can't, that it's not in his nature to be patient. so in further attempt to placate him, he adds: ]

We can continue when we return home.

Yeah, I guess you're right, but still. [The hand on his shoulder jolts him out of the fixation, his muscles relaxing. He undoes the fist in his hand, but his face still looks less than pleased. Yet he'll calm down for Ren because starting something means probably dragging the other into it and he doesn't want that.]

[He doesn't want to seem like he's in the wrong. He takes out the pictures that were already printed in the little booth, holding them close before he exits the door.] Continue at home, huh? [He says it with a bit of arrogance, trying to seem cool but then it hits him.

Oh Ren means that. Not that he's opposed to that!! He blushes a little.] Just don't go tellin' Koujaku about all this, got that? He'd just give us trouble over it.

[ it's only after Beni leaves the booth, that Ren gets up as well and follows in his step. ]

Of course.

[ he keeps his voice even, not necessarily whispering, but keeping it simply quiet, calm, even as they finally face the person responsible for the interruption of their kiss. he nods his head politely, in an brief apology. stiffly polite, without much warmth, simply doing what's necessary in the current situation. ]

Though I can't imagine why he would give us trouble over being close. He seems pleased when we're together.

[ conversationally, as they walk away from the booth and out of the earshot of the strangers who might be giving them odd looks. but Ren doesn't seem to pay them any mind anymore. ]
