Imagine your OTP taking silly photos in a photobooth.

[ who is puzzled at the idea? that's right, Ren is. he gives Beni a bit of a blank look, but it's not a displeased one, simply confused, questioning--

why this?
it seems a bit pointless, but it can't hurt to do this...
Beni looks excited.

--are the thoughts that rattle about in his head, as he's pulled along towards a photoboth covered with print outs of photos of couples that have used it before. all of them silly or ridiculous looking, but also happy. it looks flashy, sure enough and it stands out. puzzlement aside, Ren doesn't resist, he goes along with whatever it is that Beni wants to do. today it's apparently take pictures together, while the two of them are squished in a relatively tiny space. ]

Beni. We could have asked Aoba or Koujaku if you wanted to take photographs today. It'd be more efficient.

[ and cheaper. these photobooths are so overpriced. but he's still not saying no. ]

[After a fun day out, it makes sense for them to celebrate with pictures... to Beni anyway. Look at all the couples and cute ladies taking pictures with their best friends! It makes total sense that'd he drag his best friend along for a few pictures. Money isn't an issue because Koujaku is pretty loaded, and even it was, having fun means indulging and forgetting about all your problems!

Also personal space? Pffft. No such thing when it comes to being with Ren. He's all over the bigger of the two, arms draping over him as he tries to position himself in a variety of different angles and poses. He's way more engaged in this than Ren is. He's about to ask him if this particular expression on his face made him look attractive, but Ren asks him the question.]

Whaddya mean more efficient? That means we'd have to drag them over here and then Koujaku would run his mouth and say something stupid. [Say something stupid as in tease Beni.] Smile, you, frowning ain't attractive. [And he pinches one of Ren's cheeks.] I don't want my handsome face being thrown off in the pictures because you're not giving it your all, Ren. [And he smirks a little.] And when we show Aoba, you don't want him seeing ya face all grumpy do ya?

[ it's cramped in here. it's not something Ren focuses too intensely on, but he does notice. and Beni, in a very typical fashion for himself, is very energetic, very lively and moving a lot, squirming a lot-- thankfully, at the very least, the concept of personal space bubble is just as foreign to Ren, so there's not a single thought of complaint at his friend's antics. not even when Beni half-ends up in his lap--

or pinches his cheek. though he does give a soft sound of pain, the pinching stings, after all and his cheeks redden from slight embarrassment at Beni's words. he turns to face his friend, the proximity not even making him bat an eyelash.

and then Beni says the magic words. a couple of them, in fact, and not just those concerning Aoba, though they do hold the strongest impact. ]

All right. [ those magic words also dull any and all arguments he might have had against that (take the pictures while home! include everyone!)-- and so Ren gives his best at smiling, while still looking in Beni's direction. it's a subtle thing, almost shy, but without doubt, Ren is smiling. ] Is this all right?

[He knows those words would work because he's ever so clever (so he thinks). He knows a weakness of Ren is Aoba. He's not jealous of the relationship those two have, but he wouldn't mind being spoiled by Aoba a lot, too. Koujaku? No way. Koujaku's not as cute anyway, but he gives his owner some credit.

He focuses at Ren's face rather than just looking at him. He actually takes note of the different features of Ren's face in more detail and the smile with it. The way his eyes light up, his pointed teeth between that smile... he really does look happy and just because of Aoba? He's not sure why, but he feels jealous. He assumes he feels jealous because Aoba's a much better owner than Koujaku is. The countdown sound comes on so it snaps him out of it.] Yeah, yeah, like that! Look at the camera, Ren! [And he does an over the top pose that most would think is obnoxious but this alas this is Ren and he tolerates Beni.]

[Morgan accidentally fell asleep while reading a book on strategies that he borrowed from his mother. So he heads towards where he sleeps, passing by other members of the shepherds as he does so. He passes by Lucina's tent and sees a light on. Usually she's asleep by now, but he has a feeling why she's awake. He's not going to say that right now, though, instead going to check up on her.]

Lucina, it's me, Morgan. Do you mind if I read in this tent with you for a bit? I know it's late, but I just can't seem to sleep tonight so I thought I'd study up until I felt sleepy.

[ indeed, Ren doesn't seem to mind whatever pose or whatever expression Beni sees fit to make. though he might have been a little late in turning to face the camera and that one picture in particular? will have him looking with that very expression -- with that bright-eyed fondness -- at Beni being his ridiculous self, rather than facing forward.

oops?

the next one is normal -- or rather as intended, with both of them looking where they should be looking -- already, with Ren having the same expression plastered on his face. he's not as creative with these things as Beni is and it's probably for the best to not make him even attempt to be. especially if Aoba's attempts are anything to go by. ]

[In her dream, she'd been on a shopping trip with her family. Her father and younger sibling had went off looking for weapons, while her mother decided to surprise her by taking her to a boutique. Even if it wasn't something she did regularly, spending time with her mother and bonding was something she enjoyed, even in her dreams.]

[But, it didn't last. In what felt like seconds, the perfumed interior of the boutique had transformed into the charred landscape she knew so well. She tried calling after her family, but to no avail. Once again, she was alone.]

[She'd awoken in a cold sweat. After that nightmare, she didn't want to sleep again. She didn't want to be reminded that this precious peace could be easily shattered. That if they failed, everything was over.]

[So instead, she lit a candle and started reading. At least, until Morgan came by. What was he doing up so late?]

Of course. I doubt I'll be going to sleep anytime soon, so please stay as long as you like.

[She might not admit it to him, but she'd really enjoy the company.]

[He enters her tent, holding a book to his chest and a big, and a warming smile on his face.]

Thanks, Lucina. The others are awake and I didn't want to keep them up with my reading. [He takes a sea next to her, but gives her a little space. He opens up the book, but he doesn't look like he's reading.] You'll need sleep to keep your strength up, especially with everything that's going on. [He doesn't want to make her feel like the burden on her shoulders is even heavier, though.] Plus, don't girls your age worry about getting beauty sleep and all that? [He laughs a few times lightly.]

[Beni's pretty caught up in posing and thinking he has to try super hard in order to look like some lady killer (wow wonder where he gets that from huh!!). He then gets a little silly idea in his head...

Ren is smiling, yeah, but he wants to see another side of Ren! Smiling only goes so far, and he knows taking a few silly pictures. Mixing it up makes things fun and whatnot, and hey, it'll only make him look cooler, right? The camera is counting down again, giving a warning for the next picture to be taken when he suddenly jumps up a little (he's not a shorty shut up.) and gives Ren a little peck on the cheek right before the camera flashes and the picture is being taken.]
