We all have something we either can't do, or can't do alone. Luckily there's a meme for that.

HOW TO PLAY

○Post with your character.  Don't put their name and canon in the header.  Instead put something that they don't know how to do and would like to learn, or something they might want help or practice with.

examples: I can't swim • I need to clean this whole house so I can go to a ball and seduce a prince • I'd like to practice throwing pitches with someone

○Look around the meme! If you see someone that you think your character can be of some help to... tag them!

Small talk looks difficult, but honestly it's actually easy. Try looking for a feature you think is interesting and start from there. Could be something the human is wearing, or a feature of theirs.

If there's nothing on or about them that stands out, go for something in the surroundings. Point out a cloud or a piece of furniture. Once you have a foothold, you're good to go.

[Easier said than done, then. For whatever reason, the humans and the augmented humans in the serials it watches capture its attention like nothing else. Their lives are complex and melodramatic, their relationships fleshed out to something almost palpable over the course of seventeen glorious seasons, elevating into something SecUnit can really sink its teeth into, spellbound by every minute of scripted content.

...But in reality, humans are assholes. Finding room in its non-existent heart to care about them is... difficult.

[That's horrifying. If there aren't any cameras or drones nearby for it to link into it, it'd be forced to actually look at someone directly. No, thank you.] I'm not sure I can do that.

If it makes you feel any better, a lot of humans friggin' hate small talk, too. Like, I've never seen the point.

Maybe just look for that kind of person and stick with them.

Failing that, just pretend you're interested in whatever TV show or movie they're rambling about for a few minutes, then gasp and say "wait! no spoilers!" and leave.

[SecUnit doesn't need Courtney to tell it humans are a complex mess of contradictions and petty, senseless foibles. Their cultures are awash in practices they purport to despise and yet they encourage SecUnit to master and participate in them anyway, against its better judgment. It's just so typical of a species who are renowned for -- Wait. Is that an invitation for it to stick with her? Please say it's not.]

[SecUnit quickly grasps on to the only part of Courtney's advice not at risk of short-circuiting the wires in its brain.] And if they're not talking about a TV show? [Possibly the only topic of conversation SecUnit has any hope of contributing to in a 'normal' way.] Should I still walk away? Don't I have to - [Ask permission its faulty governor module tries to supply and SecUnit visibly stumbles over the next word, bracing itself for a shock to its neverous system that, blissfully never arrives.] - excuse myself?

I'm not supposed to be a person? More like a walking manual? But now I kind of exist, and it's hard to accept that.

It makes me happy to have friends...but how can I get better at it?

I think it's easy to start with small things. Speak up when someone's planning to make something for dinner that you don't like, or when there's something small that's bugging you, instead of dismissing it because it doesn't matter much.

A good first step is to find what makes you angry. Find out what that is and make plans ahead of time to combat your anger in response to that thing. Breathing exercises work wonders for anger and anxiety.

Sometimes something as simple as stepping away from the thing making you angry can help.
