[If Jason does the moment he gets to 'one' he will hear the sudden sound of sirens, as if all of the GCPD were about to raid this building. The teens exclaim and grab their supplies and make a run for it out the back, when they are gone the sirens stop.]
[He doesn't text back, but a few seconds after the sirens cut out, he's slipping out of the side window and making a break for his best guess as to where Ed has stationed himself.]
[Ed is about six blocks away and when Jason finds him he is paying off an elderly woman in a beat up car that has an impressive stereo system in the back.]
[He's pulled off his helmet by the time he gets there and while his domino hides his eyes, the paleness of his skin is still pretty clear. The panic had almost gotten him, it would seem. The cigarette dangling from his lips seemed to be helping, but that had been entirely too close to a public meltdown for his tastes.
Still, he was only a little shocky as he leaned in to press a kiss against Ed's cheek.]
Hey, beautiful. Thanks. I'd like to not be in public now, please.
[The old woman could go about her day with her new story. Jason couldn't care less. He was too busy soaking up Ed's presence and letting himself lean a little against the older man before taking him up on his offer and laying down across the back bench seat. He had to pull his legs up so the door would close, but then he was settled with his cross legged legs resting against the door.]
Fuck, that sucked so bad. I fucking hate this. So much.
[He's quiet in the backseat, rolling a little so he could reach out with one hand to tuck his hand under Ed's thigh. Not to grope, just to touch. To remind himself that he wasn't alone and that Ed was there and warm and that they were both very much alive.
He's a little better by the time they stop and Jason groaned a little as he sat up to see which apartment Ed took them to. Was there going to be a fuzzy menace to greet them at the door? Or was it Ed's studio?]
[Because Jason isn't doing great Ed has taken them to Jason's apartment, he doesn't like the cat but he knows Jason gets comfort from it so he's willing to put up with the fuzzball.]
[Honestly, Skidmark was probably one of the only reasons they still maintained separate apartments. Jay knew that Ed wasn't the biggest fan of the cat being in his studio. He still occasionally brought him just for the chaos, but only occasionally.
It would be nice to lay out with his head in Ed's lap and Skid on his chest, though.]
[He appreciated that closeness, reaching out to tangle their fingers together briefly before he had to let go to disarm his security. Yeah, Ed could have done it, but being active in his own environment helped to reassure his brain of where he was. And where he wasn't.
As promised, the lanky teenaged cat slammed himself into his shins as soon as the door was open and Jason chuckled softly as he nudged the cat over towards Ed before he headed back towards his bedroom to peel off Red Hood and pull on something soft and comforting.]
[While Jason gets changed Ed sighs and feeds the cat, if only as a way to try and distract it from trying to wind itself around his legs. He also gets Jason a glass of water since he's probably dehydrated.]
[They're of a similar height, so it doesn't take too much effort for Jason to accept the glass of water, then lean forward to rest his head on Ed's bony shoulder.]
Thanks. For everything. Can we just...chill on the couch for a bit? I think you still have a couple documentaries saved on my tv...
[As if Ed is going to push for sex when his love is feeling so fragile. For a killer and master criminal Ed is a surprisingly sensitive and kind person.]
[For killers and master criminals, they both are. After all, no one would ever expect Red Hood to wait quietly for Ed to get comfortable before he laid down with his head on the man's lap. And surely not for him to all but melt into relaxed goo if Ed started petting his curls.
And yet, there they were. Passing the evening together in their quiet bubble of 'home'. Together. They could go back to killing people later.]
[His favorite thing in the world, right there. Ed's fingers in his hair was bliss. Almost so much that he doesn't answer that riddle, but he does eventually roll his head up to smirk at his lover.]
A cat has claws and the end of it's paws, while a complex sentence has a pause at the end of it's clause. Talk wordy to me, you charmer.

Count down from 10.
[If Jason does the moment he gets to 'one' he will hear the sudden sound of sirens, as if all of the GCPD were about to raid this building. The teens exclaim and grab their supplies and make a run for it out the back, when they are gone the sirens stop.]
Should be all clear.

Ed meanwhile leans in to hug Jason briefly before motioning for him to follow Ed to his parked car.]
Of course, your chariot awaits. You can lay down in the back if you'd like.

You're safe now, sweetheart. Try to take some deep breaths.

Nah, I'm alright. I'm up, just slow.

[He says but stays close to Jason as they slowly make their way into his apartment.]
When we get in you get changed and then lay down okay?

[He's smirking, dressed in sweats and a t-shirt, leaning against the corner of the hallway to watch Skid and Ed interact.]
Is that for me?

And let's just say this fuzzball is lucky you care about him.
[Ed says as he steps around the cat, coming over to hand Jason the water.]
And yes. You're probably dehydrated from both the anxiety and being in there for a while.

What is the difference between a cat and a complex sentence?
[It's a simple riddle but he's trying to get Jason to think about something other than his anxiety.]

Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday?
