And on top of all that, this show is one of the few with the 'last week'/'meanwhile' type exposition scenes that actually use them to great effect!
And one of their magic items is just a pair of rocks. They're supposed to glow when they gets near what they're looking for, but it's legit just rocks. Not even fancy quartz rocks, just like, river rocks.
And! The arbiter of the sepia-tone-bureaucracy is played by Ruth Connell who is always fantastic, and clearly having a great time here.
