LET ME ENABLE YOU
![]() CANON ENABLING MEME Want to see more people consuming and RPing from your canon? This is the place to sell them on it! Make your argument for picking up a new book/series/movie/etc as convincing as possible if you really want to get out there. |
STAR TREK(S)
WHY YOU SHOULD RP STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION (TNG)
And, of course:
WHY YOU SHOULD RP WITH THE STAR TREK PEOPLE
Other series, in the order I made them:
ALTERNATE ORIGINAL SERIES (AOS)
LOWER DECKS (LOW)
STRANGE NEW WORLDS (SNW)
THE ORIGINAL SERIES (TOS)
Okay, in all seriousness, I do love making these. I really, really encourage people to just have fun with how they showcase the things they love! If you wanna showcase your favorite WHATEVER, be it book, series, movie, open up Canva, open up Google slides or whatever the fuck it's called, and just. Do a thing. You don't have to be insane like me and pay for Canva because all the cute stuff is behind paywalls. You could, perhaps, be more normal about it than I am.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
It's one of the Jim guys, the one that's been bugging Renoir on TFLNs without knowing any better. Guess what. I did the one mission. And now here I am and you're all gonna be stuck with me. YES I have not even come close to finishing the game but that doesn't matter.
Look at it this way. I can't spoil those of you who haven't played because I'm not that far in I don't think! But I can't stop feral screaming about this game to everyone who will come into hearing range of me so surely that's a positive sign?
THIS GAME FUCKS SO HARD.
You got love letters to classic RPGS coming out of every oriface of this game's design.
You've got steampunk worldbuilding that doesn't forget to let itself have color.
You've got a game that WILL make you cry it's so well written. Seriously there's onions in the game get your tissues.
The game isn't afraid to make you laugh either though! It's not just repeated kicks to the gut. It's emotional, not edge-lordy.
The cast is all bangers and I haven't even met them all yet I'm pretty sure!
Want a combat system that makes encounters fun as hell? Like 'go out of your way for more fights because this shit slaps?' We've got it.
Cons: Fuck the shield bitches. They know who they are, they know what they do. I'm gonna get a repetitive strain injury knocking those shields down just to attack again.
Anyway I need to sleep so I can keep playing this banger of a game. But you should play it too. Also I'm gonna voicetest this nerd out. Pray for me.

Also emotional depth, emotional damage, lovely characters, amazing voice acting, stunning art direction, the most mindblowing soundtrack, fun combat, wonderful world building and SO MUCH EMOTIONAL DAMAGE, seriously I cried like a baby at several points of the story.
Cried my way through making two journals with Sciel here, as well as
Join us in crying, please and thank you. It's so worth it.

And now you can bother Renoir with Gustave heh heh heh
Which is something more people need to experience. I'm seconding the Sciel on everything. There's good emotional depth and damage that in my opinion offers wonderful RP food. That goes for games, memes and PSLs I haven't picked up a new character and been enthusiastic about playing them in years. Now here I am with two that are sticking around? Who are in games?
Also the music is amazing and worth a listen.
But yes! The game is worth it and the best part is compared to other modern games it's more affordable. Well worth the cost, imo.

Dead Boy Detectives
This show has everything (to quote Trixie & Katya and also Stefon from SNL)
- Excellent queer rep (actual lesbian goth butcher! Gay That Can't Be Buried On Account Of He's Already Dead And Survived Hell! Whatever the absolute FUCK the Cat King has going on)
- Found family in the best of ways
- Friendships that are as important as the romantic ships (and maybe more-so depending on how you read it personally)
- Witches & how blood magic can FUCKING GET YOU
- Other supernatural critters (Cat King, Tragic Mick the Walrus Who's Cursed To Be A Man and also runs the local magic shop, a couple foul-mouthed sprites, and others besides!)
- A dude who just lives in a fish for some reason??? (One of many things we need to know more about)
- The utter sepia-tone bureaucracy of the afterlife
- A TARDIS backpack containing an unexplained Jar of Bees (there is an explanation of 'you never know what you'll need on a case' but that's barely an explanation, Charles)
- But also like, everyone in the platonic polycule/friend group makes each other better for knowing each other
- I'm lonely :(Most importantly: it's only tangentially related to Sandman and that creator. That creator no longer has rights to or control of any of the characters so you don't have to worry about lining his pockets or giving him attention.
The one year anniversary just passed, and the more people watching it is the more pressure on netflix to reverse the dumbass decision to cancel it. It's also available via Prime now if you don't have the netflix.

Silver & Blood: Requiem
The game follows a medieval-ish setting with gothic aesthetic, an amazing soundtrack, and absolute banger character designs for both male and female units alike, and is 1000% free to play friendly, AND there's someone who was nice enough to upload story playthroughs on Youtube that I've been showing to friends to get them into the game.
The OA
MCU Daredevil
- You don't really need any MCU knowledge going into this, so tons of canon review to get to this point isn't necessary!
- It is very well-written both character and plotwise. After I was done bingeing it, I deemed it one of the best-written shows I saw in the past ten years.
- Excellent fight scenes. Once a season they do a long-shot one take for one of the fights and it is always VERY impressive.
- Do you like side characters with lots of depth instead of just being there to be goofy sidekicks or eye candy? And villains you actually kind of end up liking despite them being horrible people? Lots of those abound!
- The whole show is basically your favorite long multi-chaptered hurt/comfort fic with a large emphasis on both those themes.
- The protagonist Matt Murdock ends up shirtless a lot and there are a lot of pretty people playing the rest of the characters. 'Nuff said.
- It just got a sequel series Daredevil: Born Again released earlier this year, so yet another season to binge-watch if you want more after the initial first three seasons.
- And finally: I will commission icons from your favorite icon maker for you if you pick up a character that doesn't have a lot of them already cause why not? I'm not above bribery. (There's a reason I'm playing one of the villains from the show y'all.)

commissioning icons to get people to rp from our canons
honestly knowing you don't have to have a ton of mcu knowledge to get into it is really helpful, i've always liked the dd vibe but i stopped watching mcu stuff around the first black panther movie so i was like 'lol. lmao.' about picking up literally anything bc of how much STUFF there is to know.
also honestly i'll be real, kinda slutty catholics are a draw

Tales from the Gas Station
Here's a quick tl;dr:
Do you like cosmic horror? Creepypasta? The Magnus Archives? Alan Wake? Well, smash those together with incredibly witty, clever comedy and satire, sprinkle in a little heartbreak, add a shitload of depression, commentary on the socioeconomic state of rural America, and you get Tales from the Gas Station. It's a lot like John Dies At The End, but with a little more emotion and a lot more deadpan Daria-esque apathy from our sadboy main character.
The audiobook's voice acting is fucking impeccable, and largely considered by the fandom to be Jack's canon voice since it's a first-person meta series. If you absolutely cannot do audio, the books are available on amazon cloud reader/kindle cloud/whatever you call it for super cheap.
There are currently:
4 main volumes
2 novellas
2 comic books
3 post-volume 4 short stories
1 new novella in the works right now, coming soon!
Please go consume this and then give me Rosa, Jerry, Amy, Sabine, Spencer, just- there are so many incredible rp-worthy characters. Thank you and AMA.

Heroes (sobs)
I've been writing Claire for 15 of those years now, and it's ALWAYS a joy to see canonmates out there, but these days we're like unicorns. The show I think is pretty easily found online? I rewatch on Peacock here in the USA. I don't have a PowerPoint or memes, I just have my humble begging and pleading.
- Superpowers! But not superheroes. Just regular ass people with powers they probably (definitely) should NOT have.
- Weird af powers exist in canon. There's a guy who can melt things. A lady who cries poison and her brother who is the antidote. So if you wanna do OCs or AU crosscanon, the sky is the limit as to what random ass abilities you can give them.
- The canon characters are precious babies and any of them could be fun to write. I know, I've written several. There are lots of shipping and gen interactions possible, canon fix-its, AUs.
- There's so much insane drama and weird shit, especially in the later seasons. I know everyone says it falls off as it goes on and like, that's not entirely wrong, BUT just go in looking to have FUN, and don't take it so seriously. There's still plenty to enjoy.
- Sylar! Peter! That's it that's the bullet point.
- You can totally ignore Heroes Reborn if you want lmao I pretend most of it never happened. XD
The Fetch Phillips Archives
Luke Arnold (of Black Sails and many other acting roles) is the author and he's written some fantastic fucking books, lemme tell ya. He also does the audio book recordings, which I cannot recommend enough, because he performs them so wonderfully. All the voices are unique and really capture who the characters are. He made me fucking cry!
It's a detective noir kind of deal, set in an urban fantasy world that feels gritty and dystopian, but at the same time alive and full of wonder. The titular character, Fetch Phillips is a Man for Hire. He's the most pathetic man you'll ever see, you'll want to wrap him in a blanket and kiss his forehead and bring him soup. The supporting characters and antagonists are all wonderful in their own right.
This series has everything. There's queer rep! Lesbians! A nonbinary demon! (Fetch himself has to be a closeted bisexual and I refuse to believe otherwise.) There's action! There's humor! The fourth book just came out at the end of May, so there's plenty to catch up on.
At this point I'm basically rambling incoherently, but if you have any questions, I'm happy to answer. Also, if you decide you want to RP anyone, I have PB ideas. Just saying!
Fun fact: I definitely meant to use Luke Arnold himself for Fetch here, but couldn't find icons I liked.
Nightrunner Series by Lynn Flewelling.
But honestly, don't have a character-- I'm up for cross-canon too.

...I could canon review to see if Thero might be possible, though. And of course, crosscanon thieves prosper shit with Jean is a go.
