Alright, I have ordered a heating pad, kitten-sized sweaters, and some stuff that you apparently spray that helps cats calm down when in a new house so they don't get stressed out. Think that's enough?

Yeah, I think that's really great. Good call on that spray. I didn't even know they had that.

I don't know if it works or not but I figured it was worth a shot. Too bad they don't make this stuff for humans.

That's why I never give it to them. They can't tell us how they truly feel about it.

That's a thoughtful way of considering their feelings.

[And a way Dex never would approach the situation with if Bucky wasn't around to help him see that point-of-view in the first place.]

After all we've been through together, I know how you think. In the best way possible.

[Dex may not always understand the way Bucky feels 100% of the time and never will but he's gotten very good by now at being able to understand what goes on in his head, even if it's from a detached way that doesn't always involve emotions.

When Bucky comes in with the kitten, Dex is busy filling up a hot water bottle and wrapping it in a towel.]

This will do for now till the heating pad arrives tomorrow.

[ Understanding is half the battle. The rest, Dex is often better at than he thinks he is.

Emotions or not, Bucky feels them from Dex. Sometimes it's rocky, but they get there. ]

[He comes over with the tiny kitten. She looks timid, but curious.]

She's so tense. She's calmed down a lot but I can still feel her shaking.

Poor thing. I would be too.

[And certainly had been when he was a child and newly orphaned, confused and scared of everything that was happening around him.

He reaches out one finger and gently pets the top of her shivering head.]

She probably thinks she's been abducted by aliens and isn't sure if we want to help her or eat her. Let's set out food and water for her and then leave her alone for a while. It will let her get her bearings.
