( ...though that does actually make sense, on some level. were loki to rewrite things as he wished, maybe the attraction wouldn't even be by choice. not that he knows if this is written into his story or not either. )
what does that mean for me, as a background character? doesn't that already make me easily expendable?
you assume i'm not the one writing all the death and destruction into my tales.
[They're in the midst of narrating Thor's death. They have known since the very first issue that he would meet such a fate. Meanwhile, Verity is leading a perfectly ordinary life after being reduced to a background character.]
it's different, since we're not a proper crossover more akin to a self-insert fanfic
I'm not I'm just trying to understand how my story plays into yours, if we're not even meant to be meeting
( he could easily dig into the weight of needing to make those decisions, but he's chosen not to because there's clearly knowing sacrifices that loki must make for stories, despite how jovially they had presented the matter. that too is it's own deflection, but bucky is starting to learn better how to see them. sort of. )
I assume you mean you're the self-insert, as the traveler
has it not had plenty already? it's a collection of one-shots, not some grand mythology not everything needs to be AND THIS IS HOW THOR DEFEATED THE CHILDREN OF THE PRIMORDIAL DEMIURGE
I don't know what happy endings have really happened, then and maybe it doesn't feel like some grand mythology to you, but from where I am, inside of it, this is all part of the history I live
there are not breaks between what I experience that would ever make things feel like one-shots
if that's the case, then you know that i cannot be straightforward in what i do. nor do i handle relationships the way a mortal might. and if that is an issue, you're welcome to stop responding to me any time you like.
otherwise i'm left to assume you enjoy playing this game as i do
but I'm an old fart so that's probably overly outdated in some way ( definitely not because he's a cheesy romantic and trying to dismiss it, or something. )
I can't help being curious as it's in my nature so I'm sorry if it's come across combative or demeaning you're enough I promise I'm just also trying to figure out how I chase someone who goes where I can't
i already used the metaphor i wanted to use! but perhaps it's more apt for gods than midgardians...
i have an apartment in new york. i change its location when i need to, slot it into different buildings as if it's always been there. it'll stay put for a bit now. i think that's fair enough.
ah yeah not having that sort of power does make it seem less like a game for most Midgardians, probably it's different anyway, the game you think of compared to that of a power-hungry CEO of a megacorp
should we not be meeting for coffee or dinner before I end up at your apartment? ( teasing, of course. )
if you want, i can select some random coffee shop without telling you and you can try to track me down.
regardless, i'm not giving you an exact location either way. i thought finding an apartment where it shouldn't be might be an easier task than checking every single starbucks, but again my perspective could be skewed.

because you want the full pursuit?
that means I'd have to admit what I've been avoiding

like killing public figures

but it doesn't even seem like you're really interested in me
I'm just someone to bother when you're bored and have nothing else to do

it's better this way anyhow

what do you mean?

would I die?

i'm fun like that.

are you not able to change things for yourself as the god of stories, then?

but I'm not one of those things you'd do that for

it's less of a game, for me
more like a dance

maybe steal something off of strange, though.

what's the oldest metaphor you would use, then? as advice for a much younger old man
I'll see what I can manage
is it too much to ask to see you?
