the "take care" meme

The "Take Care" Meme
a shipping meme
a shipping meme
Life is hard. You can go through rough patches and over bumps, and sometimes it feels as though you're definitely worse for the wear, both physically and mentally. It's nice to have someone - someone more than a friend - there for you in those times...even if you don't think you want them or deserve them. But they're here, and they'll take care of you.
How to Play:
* This is a shipping meme for more tender, soft moments, but a little more serious than your usual "fluff." It's for people who've been broken down by their experience and those who wish to heal them.
* Comment with your character/your preferences. You may also want to specify whether your character will be the one "cared for" or the one doing the "caring" + pertinent information, but for most effectiveness, it's best to be open to both.
* Comment around.
Prompts
1. Know You've Been Hurt By Someone Else: There are scars left on their heart from a past relationship or fling, and you have to let them know you're not the same way.
2. Can Tell By the Way You Carry Yourself: The person you have feelings for is one of those "cold stone wall" types who pushes people away. Can you get past that?
3. I've Asked About You: You've only heard bad things about this person, but you don't believe it.
4. What's a Life with No Fun: Lighten up a bit! You'd do anything to bring a smile to their face.
5. Please Don't Be So Ashamed: You have a big, BIG secret you don't want the other person to find out about, because surely they wouldn't want to even be near you if they did.
6. I've Had Mine, You've Had Yours: You've both had problems, and it could help to compare wounds so they can begin to heal.
7. Those Lies Heal: Protecting your loved one is more important that the truth, isn't it? It's a lie, but there are good intentions here.
8. You Can't Sleep: Because of past trauma, you're having a sleepless night. Luckily, this time you have somebody to help you and give you some comfort.
9. You Cry Still: The obligatory "seeing your significant other/love cry over something and wanting to make them stop at any cost" option.
10. All Get a Little Taste: Your loved one is sick or injured - literally this time - and you're looking out for them and trying to get them better.
11. You Just Don't Know: Either through magic, torture, or blunt trauma to the head, your special person can't remember you! It's up to you to get them to remember what was between you two by showing all the ways you cared for each other.
12. I Give Her Space: Part of being a careful lover is knowing when you need to leave them alone.
13. Tryna Run from That: Uh-oh, you don't want to fall in love, because you've been there, done that! Maybe there's still time to escape from this...or maybe it's too late.
14. I Will Care for You: After a particularly rough day, you're need a little TLC. Your loved one is going to do everything for you - a bath, food, the works.
15. All the Baggage Just Ain't as Heavy: You know it will take a while for this person to mend psychologically and spiritually, and you're willing to wait.
16. Change the Pace: And the smut option. Show you care through sex.
17. We'll Just Go Slow: You're going to take things one step at a time. No need to rush and define things. Just enjoy each other's company and the healing it brings.
18. We All Have Our Nights: Your lover, because of their past experience, is having a complete breakdown. You have to bring them back from the edge.
19. You Don't Say You Love Me: You both know how you feel, but one of you is having problems saying the four letter word. That's okay, though. Your lover understands.
20. To Save You: After months or years, you've both worked on the problems and old scars and you might just be ready to start something resembling a normal love.
21. CHOOSE SOMETHING ELSE

What.. what are you talking about? What came back?
no subject
[Regina. Don't judge him. Please don't judge him.] My colleagues.
He said we had to survive I... [He lowers his head] Let me start over.
What wuld you do to survive?
no subject
I-I don't know. Anything, I guess.
no subject
If I died and you didn't have any foood... [He slides away from her.] If you didn't have food.
[His shoulders shake] ...He didn't tell me. He told me he buried the bodies, he didn't tell me we were...we were eating them....
And when it came back..
no subject
Her voice comes shakily out as a whisper.]
You ate them? Those six other rangers that went up there.. They were fed to you?!
[She looses a shade of color, hand flying up to cover her mouth.
Impossible.
Everything else fell into place. His growling, the raw meat.. The snarling he threw at her not too long ago. She shakes her head, retreating to the window seat and sitting down.
No. No, because you didn't know. You couldn't have known...
[She latched onto that thought like one would a life boat.]
no subject
It came to me and it told me I had to pay for his sins...
[His heart pounds] It's crazy. It's crazy but the more I dream.
I dream of the forest.
I dream of it. The trees, the colors. The lights and the sounds....
[He draws his head down and there's a sense of peace in his voice] The forest became home.
no subject
[She wants a name or something, anything. Strange things have always lived in the forest, everyone in town knew it but it was all blamed on small town simple mindedness.]
no subject
[His voice is flat, affectless, an animal in man skin.]
He who devours. ...The Wendigo
no subject
Is that what's going on? Is that what's..
Is there anyway to.. [She shrugs uselessly.] Fix it? Stop it?
[And what did it mean for them? They hadn't really said anything about their relationship, but Reggie knew how she felt. But if the forest was his home... Would that leave her here...Alone?]
no subject
I don't know. I don't know. All I know is...you're what's keeping me here. I can't lose you.
You're the only thing keeping me here.
[He bite his lip and looks away] Even if you don't...even if we're not...together. [He can't say it. Because he'd say mate and he knows that's wrong. It's unusual.
His throat constricts.]
I want to be together but even if we're not I've lost everything. If I lost you I'd go.
I don't want to disappear.
[but can he stop it?]
no subject
A tear fell down her cheek and she hastily wiped it away. Her voice cracked.]
Paul, I-..
Don't go. Stay here. I-
[She buries her face in her hands, letting herself cry for a second in faux privacy. She wipes the tears away again before looking back to him.]
Paul, I love you. I don't want you to disappear either.
no subject
The beast calms, soothes. He raises a hand to stroke her cheek.]
...I love you too.
no subject
So what's going to happen?
[Her admitting how she felt meant that she was willing to commit to it, to them, to him. The Derrickson Women take that commitment seriously.]
no subject
[His weight is suddenly heavy on her shoulders] There's something very...very wrong with me. I don't know what to do about that.
no subject
It's gotta be like a virus or something, right? Something maybe.. the government or someone can..
[She breaks off, realizing that it would be putting him in a lab. They'd dissect him. She wishes she could just snap her fingers and make everything the way it was supposed to be.]
no subject
[His hand finds hers and he begins to rub her palm with his thumb, holding her fingers. He's warm]
.....It's a relief to have you know.
no subject
It was shocking but she was a fixer. If there was a problem her first instinct is to try and make it better. She doesn't know how she feels about it, about the Wendigo but how she felt about Paul was different.]
I'm happy you told me.
no subject
The old woman in the house down from hers, hearts, sounds, smells. Humanity. He's there. He can sense all of them.
His throat hurts and there's a loud growl from his stomach. He clings to her.]
You have to lock me up.
no subject
What do you mean? Why?
[This wasn't supposed to be how it went. There was supposed to be happiness and that warm feeling that spread and romance... and there's not. She's scared.]
no subject
...Regina please!
no subject
Where, Paul? Where? All I've got is a wood shed.
[There's panic hinting in under a steadily growing fear, a heavy rock in her stomach as her legs draw closer to her instinctively.]
no subject
no subject
The back screen door bangs as she moves through it, tears slowly creeping down her face and when she grabbed the padlock, there was a quiver in her hand that she tried to ignore.]
no subject
But it was his mate and the Wendigo had to admit she was required. For now.
But Paul is gone. A shadow is in his place, the sound of something heavy skirting the stairs, out...following her down the stairs into the forest.
She might catch a glimpse of something, a young furred thing slumped over, moving half gorilla half human through the grass to the tool shed.
If she looks.
If she doesn't look the door will shut on it's own and Paul's voice will be heard, soft and sad.]
Lock the door.
no subject
The shed door shuts and she locks it back. She stumbles backwards a few step and stands there, dumbly.
What had just happened?
It takes her a couple of minutes before she shakily asked.]
Paul?
