The OVER A DRINK Meme

1. Post with your character.

2. You're at a bar. What kind of bar? Any kind you want. From fantasy taverns where various species mingle to futuristic space bars where half the drinks will probably kill you, or even an overly kitsch themed place where everything is overpriced, it's all good as long as there are drinks and company.

3. Respond to other characters. Perhaps you want to buy them a drink. Or perhaps you're inclined to be bought a drink. Maybe you saw someone you knew, or maybe you just want someone to talk to. Could be there's nowhere else to sit, and could be you want to drag them out to dance.

4. Get drunk. Or don't! Be the guest, or the bartender, or the newcomer, or even the janitor. Mingle, make friends, or lurk in a corner.

5. They say alcohol lowers one's inhibitions. Might just be time to find out how much.

[He's not especially surprised to find himself in a bar that overlooks a crypt in Nevarra. Not a dining sight he would have chosen, personally, but it's not exactly off-putting; just strange to one without such reverence for death. The drink he orders is even stranger: he's used to simplicity, a frothy beer or a goblet of wine, no accompaniments, and the drink that arrives at his table is so artistically arranged that he stares at it in abject confusion. Considering its a drink, they've given him an awful lot of fruit. Oh, and there's a mixing stick with a little skull on it. That's... nice.]

So, can I drink this now or...?

[Yes, they'd come through the eluvian to the same city, yes, the lower lighting and more quiet atmosphere tended to be more welcome to members of the Mourn Watch than many of the other drinking options around the place, and yes, it's getting late so winding down in a tavern is a reasonable option, but there's surprise alongside the warmth in his voice anyway.

He nods at the empty stool at her table even as Manfred appears with a third from who-knows-where.]

Were you expecting other company, or-- Manfred, we ask first to make sure we aren't intruding.

[Some things have slipped since certain events transpired, and there's so much to teach. Emmrich's voice is gentle as always, though. Manfred sets the stool down and looks down.]

The word comes gently, softly-- the brush of a soft whisper of wind where it rustles through his mantle and robes and then there is the feeling of space being taken up on the stool just beside the ginger. The drow is not used to taverns such as this but there is familiarity in Caleb's presence which helps him to relax considerably.

Even the most unlikely places can hold space for one, as long as their is a tether of comfort that is attached to and from two people. That speaks to how Essek feels in Caleb's presence that he can deign to fight back that which is foreign to him.

at any rate, it's fine enough that lucanis easily walks inside easily, knowing that doing so fulfills two things: overhearing information on his contract, and having a little fun in the meantime. he doesn't always like mixing business and pleasure — and he's fairly certain that spending time with astarion will be nothing short of just that — but, things work out this time that he's willing to relent a little on being all business.

as a kind gesture, he gets the first round of what is, allegedly, the best red in the house. whether it is or not remains to be seen. he's never been here before, so he can't be sure, but his hopes are high. leaving it to breathe or whatever one is supposed to do with wine, he settles back against the chair for a moment, watching astarion in the flickering firelight. he offers a slight, but sharp, smirk, )

Trance had sent herself off to 'grow up'. Never mind that she was millions of years old. Maybe she was supposed to live another few million years? Instead, what happened when she walked through the portal her older-self had created was that she walked into a bar. A human bar, judging by the group of people inside. And all but one of them staring at her. Maybe because of the portal and maybe because this was before Earth had joined the stars.

"A beer, please," she told the bartender, sitting herself next to the man who wasn't looking at her as if she'd grown two heads. He looked...familiar. Like someone she'd known when her star was just forming. But surely he couldn't be that old. Her eyes dropped to his morose face and the dwindling liquid in his glass.

"And another one of what he's having," she said, pointing at the glass.
